ok here is the list I got online from the madison courier The members of the all-Eighth Region team and vote totals for each are: Rianna Gayheart, Owen Co., 160 points; Hannah Devine, Carroll Co., 153; Jasmine Whitfield, South Oldham, 150; Sydni Wainscott, Simon Kenton, 126; Kelli Dixon, Walton-Verona, 104; Aaliyah Wells, Collins, 82; Mackenzie Cann, Anderson Co., 80; Tori Wilhoit, Williamstown, 70; Mary Dye, South Oldham, 50; Brooke Hill, Gallatin Co., 37; Sydney Brown, Anderson Co., 31; Ashley McMurtrey, Oldham Co., 29; Ericka Hardin, Oldham Co., 24; Raegan Black, Trimble Co., 22; and Billie Hearn, Grant Co., 21. After thinking about my earlier post, maybe I should not say anything about players I have never seen play. The young lady from Grant County could be one of the best in the region, I just thougt it really strange that a team has not won a regional game but you have a top player. I have seen 13 of the fifteen play before and still think that Bryant and Mckee should be towards the top of the list. Just my opinion. But overall, a good list. And I agree about Whitfield she told me she never cares about her stats she said she has one goal she has been working toward and that is to do anything to get her team to state. No egos on South's team and the girls truly like one another. They are all good friends which shows on the court. I hope they make it but it will be hard the 8th is very strong this year

Erica Houston tore her ACL in game against Conner and is having surgery today. She is a junior and one of South's fastest defenders. She plays three sports; track, volleyball and basketball. Track is her #1 sport but she will miss this season as she will have to sit out for 6 months. A great kid and my prayers are with her and her family that everything goes well.

Maybe I am not as jaded as you are since I have only lived in Kentucky 4 years and I am still trying to figure out athletics here. But stats aside you tell me a team that is 5-18 has not won any games in their district, has not won any games in the region, but has one of the top 15 players in the region. I say again it is very sad for deserving young ladies.

One of the really sad things is when someone very deserving does not make the list. I really find it hard to believe that North Oldham's Nicole Bryant who averages 17 ppg and 6 rebounds and scored her 1000th point this season does not make the team. Are you kidding?? And North is a rival of South Oldham's but I appreciate good talent. The girl can play.

I find it hard to believe McKee didn't make it too. Does someone have a complete list?

Congrats!! You always hear of someone from Kentucky being nominated but this is the first girl I can remember that has made the team. I have never seen her play but she must be pretty awesome!

This will be a great game! This has been "the" game to win for the South players. I think South's defense will be the difference if they can manage to stay out of foul trouble. The key will be stopping Brown inside. Hopefully South will drive to the basket to get her in foul trouble. Two very good teams but I say South by 5.

I agree!! We have family in another state that look forward to hearing my daughter's game and they compliment you guys all the time.

You are correct, South should have made the free throws. Dye lost a contact at the begininng of the game and actually put in another persons contact to finish the game .She is a much better free throw shooter but she has to make sure she has an extra pair at all times. All in all it was a good competitive game. I agree that Whitfield had a great game and is a really good offensive and defensive player who has several big D1 schools looking at her.

Jasmine Whitfield had game high 29 points and scored her 1000th point in loss to WV. Congrats Jasmine!!

Worst refs I have ever seen. They actually let a WV girl take the ball out of bounds and bring it back in and shoot a three at the end. South girls were not defending because the ball was clearly out of bounds. if you think sour grapes look at the film. That ref was someone's uncle

IMO, South always starts a little slow because they have so many players that play other sports{volleyball, soccer, cross country). Whitfield is the only starter that plays bball all year but all the girls are very athletic and come around by January. Dye was getting over an illness this game but the girls were able to get the win.

Really sad. She was an awesome rebounder. Is she a senior?
