It's going to be a great matchup in Crestwood on Friday as the South Oldham Lady Dragons host the Lady Bearcats of Anderson County.

The defending 8th region champs, the Lady Bearcats, took their first tumble against an 8th region opponent this past Wednesday, when Owen County prevailed by a stunning 11 point margin in Lawrenceburg. Anderson is also now without senior forward Caroline McDowell.

Anderson County (13-6) and South Oldham (11-5) are known for taking on all comers, so both teams - despite being among the top favorites for the regional crown - come in having taken some lumps. Besides Owen County, Anderson has played Elizabethtown (twice), Bryan Station, Sacred Heart, Ballard, CAL, and Perry County Central. South has played CAL, Jeffersontown (twice), GRC, Floyd Central (IN), Owen County, and Walton-Verona...

Jasmine Whitfield of South reached the 1,000 point plateau on Saturday vs. Walton-Verona, putting her #5 on the all-time South Oldham scoring list...

The game will be broadcast on the Pegasus Sports Network, beginning at 7 pm at http://www.pegasussportsky.com. Click on one of the school logos, then click on the game listing.

Who wins and why???

This will be a great game! This has been "the" game to win for the South players. I think South's defense will be the difference if they can manage to stay out of foul trouble. The key will be stopping Brown inside. Hopefully South will drive to the basket to get her in foul trouble. Two very good teams but I say South by 5.

South wins this one. They will press and this will make Brown a non factor. Should be a great game, one in which I have been looking forward to.

On the other end, who can guard Whitfield?

I agree with SportsLady that this is a big game for South Oldham and staying out of foul trouble will be the key to winning for them. Whitfield is a tough match up but it will be interesting to how McKee deals with her. Should be another outstanding game and when Whitfiled, Dye, and a thrid scorer for the lady dragons step up, they will be tough to beat. The big question will be who that third person will be tonight- Housley stepped up against Owen and there are several that are capable. I give a slight edge to South Oldham tonight but know that Anderson is fully capable of pulling out the win.

What is wrong with Caroline McDowell from Anderson?

She quit the team. Doesn't look like she's likely to be back, either, as they've already given her number to someone else.
