  1. 365, Or should I say 365 days of sour grapes. So you would have been fine with a dominating OC team scheduling 3A teams but now your complaining that an up and coming 4A team has an unfair advantage against the Colonels? Yes you must be correct in your logic because all North could come up with last year to avoid the towering Colonel team was the meek , talentless and mild mannered J-Town team as an early season judgment game. Great win. Keep rolling Mustangs.
  2. Thanks. I figured it was 790 or 680 in this market but wasn't sure.
  3. Last year driving back from a few of the away games I found a radio call in show recapping the statewide action from the nights games. I'm in the Louisville market (Oldham Co.) Didn't know if it was still out there or any others. Thanks.
  4. Kid I certainly agree with you that it's a shame. The North vs Henry games each year are by far the rivalry games that I look forward to the most and have been hard , nasty great high school football the way you want it to be played. I look forward to Henry County getting back to where these two teams can whoop on each other again. No doubt that will come in time.
  5. Simply put. Norths Program is at a different level than the rebuilding Henry County program. Henry County fought hard but it looks like North opponents will see another year of well executed end arounds, counters and traps by quick, savvy slashing and seemingly endless smart ball carriers. As predicted the North OL and DL lines are very impressive. The throwing game is still a work in progress that needs polishing. Junior TE Caleb La Grange showed up at TE and had a big game for the Mustangs. The defense looked like a "first game of the season" defense. Very dominating against Henry County but a lot of work to be done to compete against the better 4A teams to come. That said, it appears this is a Billy Martin coached team is getting very close to filling in the missing links that have hindered them in the past. If that happens they could jump right in to be a serious player in the 4A ranks. The Mustangs will get a real good measuring stick of the program next week against a good Oldham County High program that has always been the big kid on the Oldham County landscape. A win or tough showing by North could confirm the arrival of the program at a new level never seen at North Oldham. Stay tuned.
  6. An awful lot of unknowns with the "new" HC program. They threw the ball pretty well in the 7/7 matchup a few weeks ago. North returns what should be one of the best OL&Dl around anywhere. Their big ,smart kids that played a lot last year. North seems to only lack a couple skill position players stepping up to keep the building process going and they will fit well into their new 4A surroundings. The talent is there. Step up time in now! Expectations are high! Still a young program, the momentum carrying over from the past few seasons really has the community support swelling in both numbers and enthusiasm around North. Good luck Tangs.
  7. Coach J, Great info and much appreciated. Sincerely, Mustang Nation- 3yr Football Letterman BHS class of 1979.
  8. Thanks for the suggestions. I should have mentioned that in my case I have a sophomore athlete. A number of the camps talked about are for jr/sr only or team camps only. Great info please keep them coming!
  9. Rambo I would think you are correct but I would also hope that there still was a place for a high intensity camp even if it's light contact. Can't seem to find those either?
  10. I am very surprised that in this day of advanced and specialized training programs and facilities there are very few full contact football camps for the competitive high school athlete. Our coach sent out a lengthy list of the camps around the region and while there were more than thirty one day camps listed they all appeared to be more or less the same old format of basic instruction and little else. There were only one or two multiday camps listed. Has anyone found good camps for the motivated high school player? We went the O-D camp route for a while and there may be a few locations that are better than others this once good program has become nothing more than a marketing machine to the pee-wee players.
  11. Unfortunately they did not wave off Rowans tech. Should have too but the main point is how poorly this game was officiated for both teams. Wrong players charged, got numbers backwards etc. Just ref work 101 stuff that was messed up for both teams all night long. Inexcusable at this level.
  12. Great Win for the Mustangs. A real team effort. Noticeable difference extending themselves out tighter on perimeter sharpshooting South. Noticed it in some of last weeks hard fought loss to Trinity the North kids seem to take their scrappiness up a notch and it looked to carry over last night as well. On to O.C. Congratulations to South on a great year.
  13. Smart guy S-Boy ! 1977 Ballard- Jeff Lamp went to Portland after UVA. Lee Raker to the Clippers via UVA and Jerry Eaves to the Jazz after Uof L. Great talent and a classy group of guy's as well.
  14. I was thinking about my remarkable high school team from waaay back and it got me curious? What is the most players off a single Kentucky High School roster for a given year that went on to play in the NBA ? This team had three. Were there others with that many or more?
  15. Unfortunately I don't think the facilities are the issue in getting good attendance to Louisville. I think you could move Madison Square here and your still going to have the same folks from out in the state shunning a trip to the "big city". Not to mention the UK hard cores that would never set foot in the U of L home-field. Well maybe for a Shania concert !
  16. The unofficial word this evening is that all has been looked at by the "authorities" regarding the brawl and the results will not impact Central's ability to bring everyone for the game Friday night. Hope that's the case. Everyone around North has echoed the same opinion in that win , lose or draw Friday we want our best on the field to compete with the best that Central has to offer. All chips in, no excuses.
  17. Ok so I gotta ask what does it take to end up with a green turfed indoor facility such as Simon-Kenton's ? Generous and well healed boosters ? Lotto tickets ? Night time visits to the local school board members from Luca Brasi ? Were there considerable politics in play ? I'll be there this weekend for a basketball scrimmage and will look forward to checking the place out.
  18. VOR, These were all that were listed in the Courier -Journal today.

Congrats to all.
  20. I think for North it's a bit like figuring out how to stop Michael Jordan back in the day. You don't ! You just need to contain. Figure he will get his 30 and your job is to figure out how to have 31 when it's over. The upside for the Mustangs is they are certainly capable of putting numbers on the board. I would like to think we could see a 31-28 type game.
  21. Sleeper to watch at North- 6'4 Junior Kyle Kozak. Heard it here first ! Besides Big man Rowan you've got 6'1 Sr. guard Steinfeld and Soph. shooter D. Levitch who's stretching up but yet to fill out. With first year coach Henley no ones sure how he'll use his roster. New era at North.
  22. What an exciting win for the Mustang program. Congratulations to the staff and the boys. Nice Gatorade dunk Knute ! Well deserved. I'm still trying to figure out how E-Town only got 8 points put up against Western Hills ? That's not meant to be disrespectful to WH but I thought the back up QB for E-Town really played well, had a nice arm and they were a solid team overall. WH must have really played solid D. Let's be honest. For the second and third quarter North was not stopping E-Towns offense and had lost the overall momentum with no relief in sight. But true to the way these kids have never given up, they hung in there, kept at it and created the opportunity to take the game back. And they sure did. I heard a stat that I could not believe and maybe Knute can confirm if it's accurate or not but I was told that the turnover ratio for North this year was something like (37:7 ) 37 takeaways to 7 give away's in North's favor. If true that's not being lucky that's never giving up and staying after it. Great job Mustangs. On to meet Central next week. I'm sure North will be considered a huge underdog in this match-up but that's been said all year about this group and look where we are. Stay tuned !
  23. Knute, What I meant is that a lot of the young kids that have stepped up and are overachieving, are doing it in my opinion by determination and have often given up size and age to their opponents.
  24. Mike, your on the money ! This is a group of very young and inexperienced kids. It might be different if there were a few upper class-men studs thrown in but that's just not the case. One or two at best. Then factor in that two thirds of the boys were asked to play at positions their undersized for and it's really something what they have accomplished so far. The program has overachieved from top to bottom....and their not done yet are they !
  25. Awfully good entertainment value for less than $5.00 an hour !
