  1. I should have known this thread would turn into a runaway train. Ok how bout a legit re-routing ! Did anyone see or get a good take on what the E-Town vs Western Hills game looked like last night ? With an 8-3 final score obviously defense was king but with North Oldham getting E-Town next I'm curious what to expect and just how much better these guy's are than their record suggests based on their tough regular season schedule? The temp just went from 33 to 30 so there goes the golf game this a.m................. maybe !
  2. Wish I had something real profound to say about it but the above quote pretty much covers it. I was very impressed with E.Jess and not just because they whooped us. They are a very well coached, no nonsense, disciplined, strong team with enough individual talent spread around at some key places to make them very potent as well. I think our Goal post's are intact and still standing as well ! I am predicting a 2-0 North blowout of Shawnee this Friday. Very profound!
  3. If 11 are froshman and you throw in a few injuries that could easily put things in an awfully bad state. Add to that the pummeling they have been taking. I'm not sure but Shawnee may have become more of a non-traditional type high school so the student population numbers that have them in class 3a may be misleading when it comes to potential student athletes.
  4. Welcome east2010 and thanks for the explanation. In this context your post tappin appears to be in good spirit. Until I see one of your 250lb big boy's winding up with a log splitter and big grin! Have a good game Friday.
  5. Thanks for the good feedback. I suppose this is not a bad time to take on such a formidable and physical 4a team. If North can handle what East Jess. throws at them it would sure carry a lot of momentum going into the playoffs. If things did not go so well maybe it would toughen us up and have us better prepared for the 3a opposition to come. Gotta think positive ! "Apparently, East likes to take a sledge hammer and bang on the goal post as they come onto the field." Are you kidding me ? Why not just fire up an acetylene torch or launch M-80's into the grandstands while their at it. We'll have to get our hammer police assembled.
  6. Teal Green Turf. Goshen Green, The Boise St. of Brownsboro Rd !
  7. WH Fan, Thanks for the compliments. You and I definitely saw the same game. North was very very fortunate that a number of the plays and drives that you described did not go the other way. They could have easily done so with a 20pt swing and complete momentum change in the balance. There were also at least two 3rd and short penalties on Hills when they were chewing up yardage that put them at third and long and did not convert or had to try a kick. Maybe it was home field mojo but Hill's seemed to hit themselves with momentum stopping issues at just the right time to loose momentum, that at times North seemed unable to stop.To Hills credit for a lot of the game that was the best tackling and throwing North has seen this year. Hats off to the District Champ Mustangs. We were missing some key defenders last night. Failed to execute in the first half beyond what the scoreboard showed but didn't break and held it together. I don't know what was said at half time but a different North showed up afterwords. This was frankly not a very pretty game by either team but the Boy's showed character when things were not going so well and picked themselves up when it counted. In my opinion that's another indication this young team is growing up and stepping up. To those who said Hill's had the answer to North's seemingly predictable ground game. 484 on the ground, Nuff said. Great win and congrats to both teams for a great regular season but time to move on. Playoffs Baby ! Lock and Load.
  8. Mike, I agree. I think very few saw the district becoming such a good, tight stretch run. I would be lying if I did not say I'm very nervous about tonight's Western Hills game. Henry and North know each other well enough to know what's coming. With Hill's I feel like the Seahawk's are coming in for the Bengals with a division on the line. We know their formidable but that's about it. As I stated before it's a darn shame this will be it for these teams as district rivals. North's Froshmen remain undefeated and the J.V has only two losses, one to a 5a and both classes look real strong so with the rebuilding at Hill's along with Henry Co. it looked to set up some good future games. If North comes away with the "W" tonight it will speak volumes about the heart and sole of this group of boys. Other than the obvious good speed and execution in the backfield this very young and undersized team runs on 99% heart and determination. The fact that just a couple very special senior leaders have kept these guy's plugging along says a lot. They will be missed ! see ya under the lights !
  9. Forget about what happened to Bardstown. What the heck happened to Washington County? Is this the same Washington County that North Oldham went down and handled pretty well when playing their last pre-season scrimmage game ? Did you guy's sand bag us with your J.V and Froshmen personnel or has this team come that far in a short period of time ? I would love to see these two play again right now to measure the changes ? Or maybe not the way Washington Co. is playing ! Congrats on a great season.
  10. Very true KD's but it seems we bought into the idea of a "new Improved" way to grow a football field. They also offer Brooklyn bridges that are half off this week in isle ten ! Live, learn and move on !
  11. North's pass coverage and pressure on the QB has improved a lot in the last few games. If it steps up again with Hills I believe that will be the difference in the outcome. This game will tell us a lot about how much North's young starters have grown up. Big win against Henry County and an odd "free for all" type game against a very frustrated win less Spencer County. All well and good but a good team needs to be able seal this deal, especially on home turf. ** On a side note** Let me be the first to apologize about the condition of our field to our visitors. Apparently North's 26 million dollar expansion completed last year did not include the ability to grow grass !
  12. Curious ? I don't recall the Western Hill's vs Henry Co. box score? Did Hills put up their points against Henry's Co's first team or was it after Henry Co. backed off later in the game? Good luck Mustangs !
  13. WH fan, Thanks for the beta on Hill's. I like you feel this has the potential to be a great game. A lot on the line for both teams. Also know that I am certain Jake is a good Joe that just got a bit off track. I collect vintage guns and saw a great collector site forum become like a bunch of school girls gossiping and would hate to see this site not continue with quality input such as yours. Best wishes for your boys and we'll see you Friday night.
  14. I agree with previous post that momentum and the home field advantage for the Rocks may well overwhelm a good Bruin team.
  15. I really enjoy the fact that most of the posters use this forum to contribute insightful thoughts, analysis and bio on their teams and those they compete against. Jake.... I don't know much about Western Hills so tried to do a little research into Hills football to see what your program is about. Unfortunately there is not a lot of info out there. Too bad that all you decided to contribute to this thread is a juvenile "shot across the bow". There's too many loud mouth sites out there already I would hate to see our forum go in that direction. How bout X's and O's ? Col. Mike, thanks for the props!
  16. Again no answer to the speedy North ground attack. The passing and special teams are coming around as well. Congratulations Mustangs.
  17. Too bad the new districts break up what had become a real good rivalry game between North and Henry County. I hope they at least keep scheduling each other as non district games.
  18. Wow ! I don't believe anyone on the North side of the fence saw this one unfolding quite like this. In a nut shell: a) Henry County had no answer in the first half for the North ground game. b) Henry County coughed up a number of opportunities that North took full advantage of. c) North was able to execute a pass or two that kept the defense honest and allowed our QB to settle a bit in the pocket. Hat's off to all the guy's in the trenches. d) Heart and determination really showed up in Teal and White last night. Big and needed win for this team. Did we turn a corner at just the right time ? Well done by all !
  19. Jake, Seems like I remember lacing up once or twice in Tallahassee.
  20. Expertise ?? Humm. Easy from the cheap seats comes to mind. I don't think I'm politically correct enough to keep the soccer moms happy with my "coaching style" Old school baby. Plenty of water and salt tablets... but in your face man up challenges, conditioning, conditioning, conditioning and hit to make a lasting impression. I can hear "The Boys of Fall" playing in the background. I'm tearing up. Basketball at North ought to be very interesting this year with new coach Dave Henley in charge. This looks to be a huge win for North to have him at the helm and he's got some real good talent coming up so I believe I'll stay on the grid iron with my razor sharp analysis. Also: Does it appear that Collins will likely emerge as North Oldham's "new" big rival with the new districts in place next year ?
  21. If.....and being honest that's a big if...North can defend the long ball better than they have so far this year and eliminate costly penalties they can compete with Henry County. North has yet to put out a complete game and come together against a quality team. Still very young but it's time to start seeing some strides made and a fire in the gut.
