  1. Stick around paNDA. We were very fortuate to have awesome reffing at the Region 6 tournament this weekend. Last year at the regional tournament it was a completely different story. There was a ref out of W. Virginia (if memory serves) handle-bar mustache, kind of piratey looking (anyone remember) who was one of the worse refs I've ever but unfortunate enough to see ref. Heard later from a coach that this gentleman would not be back reffing in Ky anyway soon. The fans were in good form also. I don't know if everyone was anticipating sparks from a certain corner of the gym, but it didn't happen. In fact, all the parents with 'reputations' seemed to be on a leash this weekend. Coach Sherlock and his Boone faithful ran an awesome tournament and should be commended. (Although Coach Sherlock may have been arrested by the Fashion Police for the tie he had on Saturday night.) The only downside of the night was the knee injury to SK 160 Jacob Clark. Hopefully it was nothing serious and he'll be on the mat this weekend.
  2. Great pics paNDA. Thanks for posting.

  5. I've been tuning into the Kywrestling forum regularly for a new episode of 'All My Wrestlers' and the plot seems to be continuing to thicken. The evil Dr. Myers quest for wrestling domination is placing alot of scrutiny and criticism on the highly respected Camp Co wrestling squad and it's coaching staff. A volunteer CCHS coach is pulling his support for the team and actually suggesting that his son, displaced from his current weight class by one of Myers boys via a wrestle off, will win with as few points as possible thereby reducing contribution to team points. So here's my question regarding the whole combined individual versus team sport that wrestling is. If a wrestler, with little chance of a winning an individual state title but a decent chance at placing at state, maybe as high as 5th place, is now moved to a different wrestling weight class because of a KHSAA allowed transfer and it reduces his chance of placing as an individual but greatly increases his chance for a team championship, is it better to contribute heavily to a very likely state championship team effort without placing as an indvidual or a 3rd - 5th place team finsih and a 5th - 8th place individual effort???? Which would you choose? Clyde posted a few weeks ago when the rumors started about the Myers boys coming to Camp Co that Coach B didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I'm guessing he still doesn't....
  6. From Kywrestling.com....looks like the Myers are going to Campbell Co.
  7. Results: Camp Co (by a very narrow victory over SK) Simon Kenton Ryle Scott
  8. Rumors abound and of course vary depending on the source...., overall it sounds like there were infractions/inappropriate behavior and an alleged attempt to cover it up.
  9. It was an exciting season to say the least for the Camels! As for someone who bleeds purple, I'm looking forward to how Coach Lickert will continue to build the Campbell program. I'm not a football technician, so I'm not going to even try to comment on the subtle nuances of calling one play versus another, or one form of offense/defense versus another another throughout the season. But I can tell you that Coach Lickert is a leader. It took some time but the players began trusting him and woe to the parent or fan who said a word against Coach by mid season! Congrats Coach and again, Welcome to Campbell County!
  10. Just wanted to point out I noted that the Tates Creek team captains at the beginning of the game took time to stop and talk to the Camels honory team captain, a Campbell County elementary student now in a wheelchair after an accident this spring. Very classy Tates Creek team captains! Props to you.
  11. Disappointing for the rest of the team, student body and fans.
  12. The Camels will have several walking wounded players, as well as one starter who will not be playing at all due to a broken arm. (But at the end of the season, I'm guessing most teams have more or less the same experience with injuries.) Sticking with my Camels by a touchdown!
  13. Voice of Reason is correct. Since there are 5 NKY 6A schools and a other districts have only 3 our 5th place finisher goes on the other side of the bracket from the other NKY schools. So while Boone, Ryle, Campbell and Dixie have a chance of seeing each other as early as round 2, the only way SK will see a NKY team is if SK and one of the other 4 make the championship game. My guess is the odds are better you'll win the Powerball.

  17. Come on give fastball21 a break. As a Camel fan I think the explanation of the earlier comment is fine and he is right afterall Campbell County winning the district is huge but they still have quite a road to travel to get to the state championship game. Do I think it's possible....after this season anything is possible but we all have to take it one game at a time in the playoffs. We do have a few injuries after the Ryle game although until the docs see a couple of the boys on Monday we won't know if anyone hast to sit out a game or two. I don't think any of them were season ending injuries but there was a lot of ice and ibuprofren (spelling?) going out at the post game get together! And I want to say thanks to the Raider Nation for being such good hosts at the game.
  18. JJ Jude is a beast! He's currently ranked #1 in the 182lb weight class for the 2011 - 2012 wrestling season. Good luck with the rushing record!
  19. The celebration was a little excessive? What are you talking about? Did they pull the goal posts down and I missed it? The majority of their celebration took place off the field on the track in front of the visitor bleachers not on the Ryle field. So Campbell distanced themselves from Ryle who remained on the field. By moving the Camels on to the track, Coach L gave the Ryle players a little breathing room so they weren't just 30 yards away listening to his victory speech to his players. I also didn't hear any disparaging cheers from the boys against Ryle. After that I mainly heard them singing the school fight song (although they really don't know all the words....LOL...they just keep singing the parts they know over and over.)
  20. As I was reading down the posts, tdyballgame beat me to posting my thoughts. Highlands knows they are going to dominate big time in these games so it makes sense to me that at times the coaching staff uses the game as a laboratory to try some things out.
  21. Did a closed book just get slammed open? Proud of those Camel boys. Even after some mistakes they kept on fighting.
