  1. Congrats Camels! It was an incredible game! Dixie's quarterback threw some impressive passes but it just wasn't enough. James Popp had impressive yardage tonight thanks to the Campbell O-line.

  5. A couple of things to consider. The current senior class had only one loss as freshman and that was to Highlands in a very close game. Many in this current senior class started playing varisty football as freshman and sophomores. Many in the current senior class have played both sides of the ball up until this year. There are a few seniors who are getting very little if any playtime. So I don't believe they are losing because Coach is only playing seniors. I believe not using some of the seniors to their maximum position because of the '2 platoon' program is a contributing factor. I'm all for the one position, one side of the ball strategy after seeing the dog I have in the fight so exhausted after playing both sides of the ball all night his junior year. But how do the coaches keep those seniors motivated this year? They know, and rightly so, that Coach L can't be held too responsible for the outcome this year and even next. They are starting to believe their senior year is being sacrificed for the good of the program's future. While from a tactical standpoint it makes sense, from a 17 year-old's perspective who's given his all every year it's very discouraging.

Last Friday night, while standing during the National Anthem and looking across the stands and the football field, I thought about this scene being played out across the country at high school football fields everywhere. The football players, cheerleaders and marching band students who have given up their free time all week to work toward a common goal. The parents volunteering to take tickets, work the concessions stands and the chain gang. What a great event! Then this week, scanning through the threads showing score recaps with very large margins and discussions on already closing the book on some teams, a quote I read a long time ago came to mind. I looked it up and here it is. So I offer this to every young man (and a few young ladies according to a recent post) who, win or lose, are out there 'in the arena'. And I encourage all posters that before you criticize, ask yourself if you are one of those 'cold and timid souls who neither know victory or defeat'.   13. Yes. Individual wrestlers receive points not just for their win but how they win. Lesser points are given for a minor decision, more for a major decision (I think its a win by 7 points or more) with the most points for a pin. The team part of team wrestling comes in when a wrestler may have little chance of winning but his objective is to minimize the points scored by his opponent.

  16. The team met with Coach Lickert yesterday. I understand it was a very positive meeting and the boys were impressed. Looking forward to an exciting 2011 season!

  18. A game to remember! Come on Camels! It was Ryle 35 to CCHS 30 in regular season play. So let's be the Cinderella/Underdog team of the 2010 playoff season and win!
  19. Glad to see there was no repeat of the 'Benchclearing Brawl of 2009'! Both teams seemed to be on their best behavior and the referee's did a great job. Hope it holds true next week in Lexington.
