Agree. Dials is actually more accurate at throwing the ball than Austin Charles was last season. Imo, we may see a little more of that against Letcher, not to take anything away from him; however, Dials is just more proficient in passing.

Imo, Pikeville wins in a close one. The Panthers were hitting on all cylinders in every aspect of the game last Friday evening. Pikeville's not a one dimensional team by any stretch. Pugh is a pure beast, no doubt. However, I really don't think Coach Mac tipped his hand to reveal other weapons at his disposal. PIKEVILLE - 42 Letcher Central - 35

Both teams coming off victories look to make it 2 - 0 after they hook up next Saturday evening in the last game of the Pike Co. Bowl. Who wins this one?

One thing is for sure. Pikeville will see what Letcher Central is made of next Saturday evening. Think the Panthers will have their hands full.

That, he is. He's trimmed down from last season with more muscle and looks stronger. No doubt he will get better as the season progresses.

Not sure what his stats were. However, the Pikeville defense keyed on him all night long. He did run the ball fairly well to start the 3rd qtr, and scores on a pass play from like forty yards out.

Running back Daric Pugh scores four touchdowns for 310 yards as the Panthers take the win at Prestonsburg. Score could have been more, but coach Mac called the Panthers off early. Congrats to the Panthers as they are scheduled to take on Letcher Central next Saturday evening in the Pike Co. Bowl.

There's no current record books to throw out at this point, with the season at week 0. However, if there were, you could do just that because, when these two suit up and go at it, it's always going to be a barn burner. Panthers 38 Blackcats 14

It's always a huge battle between these two clubs when they meet. Prestonsburg is always tough, year in and year out. However, you could be right. This just may be the year the Panthers could be playing in BG. This year's team is expected to be as good, or even better than last season's team. Only time will tell as the season progresses, and there are huge expectations for this season's team.

Agree. Pburg took a hit on the line a little more than the Panthers did. Both teams will break in new qbs., and look for a "run fest " between Frasure for Pburg, and Pugh for Pikeville. The Panthers are certainly blessed at the wr position this season. Look for more carries from fb Blake Charles. The Panthers will replace two on the off. line after graduation loss. Imo, Pikeville wins this one by returning a little more talent.

Agree. Pikeville will be as good, or better than last season. This team did lose some good players, but will have some good replacements with game experience.

:thumb:A win in the P.C.B. would be a confidence booster for this team. From what I see, this team could make some noise this season, because almost all the skilled players return. The line took some hits with the graduation of some key lineman. Imo, just getting out of the district is not going to get it with our fans. This program needs to get back to it's winning ways of the past and that means at least making it through the region (Hazard). After the P.C.B., we take on Danville the next week in the Cumberland Bowl Pigskin Classic. IF, we could make it two wins to start the season out, I think this would be huge in our quest for a successful season. Coach Mac, is no stranger to this program, by helping win the 1st of three state titles. When he was H.C. in 99', he took us to the state semi finals at Beechwood, and came so close to winning that game. You know it takes a mixture of fan support & commitment from the players & coaches. Got my hopes this season.

I feel confident Chris will bring stability to the program which is something that is definitely needed.Beechwood has always been the best competition for us. Always fundamentaly sound, as well as great coaching. Like you, i'm looking toward the future for some more Beecwood & Pikeville games.

Certainly hope you are correct. I truly believe he is the rig.ht hire at the right time. We've got a good group of Soph. & Juniors (last season) & 0nly lost six seniors to graduation, so he does have some talent to work with.

In 99' he took the Panthers to the State semi finals on the road against Beechwood. The Panthers had the Tigers on the ropes, but a late game interception ended the threat. Don't know what happened at Central, but Coach Mac will do fine ,Imo.

W e have a new Adm. since Chris left the first time. It was the old Adm. that was responsible for his leaving then. Imo, Coach Mac will make a fine football Coach that will get us back on track.

:dancingpaan Agree. Coach Mac has already been a success at Pikeville, and should have stayed there Imo., but the previous Adm. stupidly(or should i say"through politics") thought otherwise. I watched him play in High School and watched him coach at this School. He comes from a great family, and has a great football mind. If he is chosen, he's got my support 100 %. By the way, we had Beechwood beat at their place in 99', but an interception with something like a minute or less left in the game ended that. Hope we have another shot at that someday. 9

Last i heard, Asst. Coach Chris Mcnamee is getting a serious look, although nothing is definite just yet. Coach Mac excelled in 1987 when we won our 1st class A state championship by being named 1st team allstate on both defense & offense. Just hope he is as successful in the coaching world as he was a player. Will be glad to let you know anything that may develope.
