Robbie Lucas has FINALLY had the interim tag removed from his title of Head Football Coach at Somerset High School. It had been rumored for the last few weeks that he was going to officially become the head coach, but it finally happened this week.

Coach Lucas took over 11 days before the season when long time SHS Coach Jay Cobb resigned after disagreements with the administration. All Lucas did from there was take a team that went 5-6 the previous year to the State Finals, and finish the season with an improbable 14-1 record. He was also voted 3A Coach of the Year by his peers.

Congrats Coach Lucas!!!! :clap::clap::clap:

Let's Go Jumpers!!!! :bunny::bunny::bunny:

Good move. The only thing he needs to do is distance himself from Cobb! I think that was the only reason it took so long. From my dealings with Coach Lucas he is a class act and will be a great role model for the Kids.

I agree, but I have a great deal of respect for Coach Lucas for being unwilling to throw Jay Cobb under the bus. Coach Cobb (who I really never liked but respect) is the man who hired him as an assistant and gave him that opportunity, and Lucas showed loyalty for that. I think it shows his character and I admire him for that. While that may have caused the Somerset administration to have some reservations, they did show great judgement in making Coach Lucas the head man. He deserved it based on what he did in a tough situation.
