I have not seen CC play this year until last night but they look to have a lot of potential to be good. They have a really good looking player in the middle. He is a 6'7 sophomore with some good post game. He will be a beast over the next couple of years. Jackson is also a very nice player. He is a very good slasher who could score at the rim and from deep. I though Ryle controlled the game last night and was the better team. Nice job by all of the Ryle players last night. They had about 8 players contribute and they played with a lot of energy. I am wondering how NKy rankings have St Henry, SK or Campbell above Ryle. Saw them play all three and they were clearly better than SK and St Henry.

CCH does do a nice job with the tourney. I am sure the three man crew did a fine job. Less stress to put yourself in position to see the calls. It's not like the crew called 14-3 against a certain team or one official called 12-1 against a team in a half or anything. That would be something to gripe about.

If you have watched many of the frosh games this year you could tell why three were needed. Most of the refs in this area cannot keep up with the athletes to be able to be in good position to make calls. This is not a knock against the officials but a sign of the athletes ability to run the floor at a younger age. I personnally heard two crews myself openly admit that they cannot keep up as a two man crew. I would think that money and number of referees available are issues as far as frosh and JV are concerned but in most games I witnessed this year a two man crew is at a huge disadvantage.

I think that you are both right. Although you may not necessarily change the actual swing, the BBCOR bats make hitters focus more on fundamentals in their swing to generate power. Kids now have to focus more on getting hands through the zone, pitch selection and hips in the swing to generate the power. With the old -3 bats, you could get one off of the hands on a "pitchers pitch" and sometimes still get enough on the ball to find a gap. Those old bats were like hitting with dynamite.

I don't know who won. I don't follow either team consistently. From the tone of your message, it sounds like NCC won. NCC is a great team. I also think, pound for pound, one of the toughest schools to compete against in any sport. Just my opinion that Ryle is better.

We all have opinions but I disagree with your opinion. NCC has a nice team, no doubt, but I don't think they are as athletic over all as Ryle.

Cheeseman is a great player but has been out most of the year with a thumb injury. The game was interesting without him. Back and forth close game to the end. Score does not indicate how close the game was or what happened in the game. Ryle has only lost to a couple of teams outside of CCH(Moeller and Lasalle). In my opinion, the Championship game was played last night. The two best teams were Ryle and CCH.

Agreed - They will bring back some very good players and very deep pitching. Their #1 and #2 pitchers will be as good as anyone's in the region and the top 5 in their order will hit, well. They play in the toughest district in the region top to bottom and play a tough schedule over all. Pat always travels to make sure that they see tough competition throughout the season. They will be a big factor in the 9th.

No doubt Boone will be a factor. The Boone County district was the toughest top to bottom last year by far and may be again this year. Boone has some nice players for sure.

I don't think it is misinformation, it is no information. I know committee members and they are not saying anything. It very well may be Lynch but the information flying around is mostly speculation.

I just think that high school baseball has a lot to do with pitching and I think Ryle's pitching has a chance to be better all through the rotation. It is always tough to predict the 9th region but they are my favorite. I gotta back my boys although I am a strong "Max" supporter as well.

Ryle should be #1 to start the season. The reason is pitching. They have a very deep rotation and three very good, experienced pitchers at the top of the rotation. They also will still have a very solid line up (Downs, Clarkson, Forbes, Deters, etc) that will score plenty of runs. They also play a very tough schedule every year. Top five would be Ryle, Beechwood, Dixie, Highlands, New Cath.

Not ridiculous at all. There are a lot of moving parts to hiring a head coach. They are being thorough and making sure that all qualified candidates are getting the chance to put their best foot forward. They should have an answer very soon.

1) I do not think that the comment from Hellbird was a complaint, just an observation. That is a pretty broad statement to say that all people in Boone Co are complaining. 2) I don't think that the idea of high school sports is to have an open recruiting atmosphere although many people do not understand what high school athletics are supposed to be about. 3) The idea of closing the school districts have more to do with the size of the schools and with Ryle and Cooper being the newer schools than it ever has about athletics.

I would not say that Wirth or anyone else is the favorite at this time. Way too premature to talk favorite since the committee is only about half way through the process. Anyone that is speculating at this point does not know the facts and I know that the committee members will not leak specific info about the candidates.

Pretty crappy to call kids out like this when you have no idea of the situations or players. Jake Ashley was out with an injury all last year. He may not even play football next year. It has nothing to do with having faith or not having faith. If either were put in the situation to play they would be just fine. How does a player transferring into a school show lack of faith in anyone. You really need to stick with things you know, like.... well, that pretty much leaves you out of most conversations doesn't it.

Two 6th grade boys could do better.

It was a great game by both teams but listening on Tri State Sports is about as painful as it gets. Those guys announcing are bad! AS AS AS AS AS AS AS . It was mind numming.

I would agree with some of what you are saying but I would have to add this angle. Most of the people on the private school side will say that they are just better coached or have better support when it comes to success of a program. What they fail to acknowledge is that talent usually wins games at any level. That being said, a private school like ST X or Trinity have much more talent to choose from yearly than any school in the state. Every kid from around the Louisville area, if they are talented in football, will choose from one of the two. In a place like Ryle for example, we have great community involvement, a coach that works non stop to grow and improve the program, and we are developing a pee wee system to support better fundamentals and growth of the program. Even with all of that, we are still relying on players in a specific area to love football and be talented enough to compete. Not only are we relying on this player, but we are hoping that there are many of players in each grade that have that desire. Places like ST X and Trinity are hand fed these players every year. They have rosters and school classes that dwarf there opponents on the average. While I agree with what you have written for the most part, there are many scenarios that private supporters also fail to acknowledge.

No, many of people thought that SK would be good. It is ridiculous that you will not give anyone else credit, even when they beat you between the lines. Now, run along. Mommy is running your bath.

Congratulations, we all know that Trinity is a great program but also please keep in mind that you have a huge enrollment of male students compared to any other school not named St X. Teams like Ryle, Boone County, Conner, Dixie Heights only have a certain area that they pull kids from. Trinity and X recruit all catholic kids from the entire Louisville area. Just keep that in mind when you are writing your smug and elite comments.
