  1. In the Cincinnati market, the game on Thursday will air on WCPO 9 in addition to Prime Video. https://www.wcpo.com/bengals-ravens-thursday-night-football
  2. I'm all for anything that would distract the other team while they are on offense.
  3. I guess that you are not a believer in the "Butterfly Effect"!
  4. Colerain High School in Cincinnati appears to be subject to a swatting incident this morning and dismissed at 9:15 a.m. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/colerain-township/colerain-high-school-under-lockdown-after-apparent-swatting-incident
  5. Not arguing with that. Sometimes it got to the point where I thought they were just trying to impress us with their math skills on the spot fouls. The key was always watching the umpire's feet when he started the walk off.
  6. As a high school football statistician, I am so grateful for this year's change in the offensive holding rules that the 10 yard mark off is from the line of scrimmage. 1st and 20 is so much easier to record than 1st and 17, for example (with me giving the running back 3 yards credit prior to a 10 yard spot foul mark off). In previous years that got really annoying because certain referees just loved calling spot fouls all game.
  7. I'm old enough to remember George Blanda who played for UK and then 5 different NFL teams (most notably the Oakland Raiders). He was a QB and a placekicker. He holds numerous records for both positions and for longevity playing the game.
  8. "There was a concession stand right behind our bench and our players were distracted by the smell of the BBQ."
  9. I think Lou Anarumo will mess with Stroud's mind and show him things he has never seen before on any level.
  10. The college trend is that field goal kickers have a soccer background and punters are coming from Australia with rugby or Australia rules football experience.
  11. Not the winning score, but he was the emergency kicker after the normal kicker got hurt earlier in the game.
  12. Here is the stat summary for the game. https://www.turbostats.team/football/covingtonholycross/hc indians 2023_game11_box.html This afternoon's game was played at Highlands High School to allow Newport to be the home team as the second seed in their district. For the second week in a row, Newport defeats Covington Holy Cross, this time 54-14. The score was very close in the first half with Newport leading 20-14 at the end of the 2nd quarter. However, in the second half, Newport explodes for 34 unanswered points. QB Kyle Lee runs for 2 TDs and passes 13-22 for 216 yards and one score. Wildcat RB/WR Rodzion Thompson ran for 2 other touchdowns. The Wildcat defense was relentless in the second half sacking HC QB Donavan Ambrocio 7 times. For the Indians, WR Davonte Ryan had 4 catches for 86 yards and 1 TD. Newport (8-3) will play at Ludlow next Friday night in the second round of the playoffs. Covington Holy Cross finishes their season at 5-6.
  13. In the old days, some Catholic family players in Boone County would travel all the way over to Holy Cross to go to school because they knew that they could get football playing time (as opposed to going to Covington Catholic). Not so much lately (if any).
  14. Burrow is hoping that Oz won't be hired as an opposing team defensive coordinator.
  15. Barnes is not a slouch. He is second on the Lions list this year in tackles behind Anzalone.
  16. I hope Taylor had a brief word with Chase to stop the backflips. He may have stuck that one, but he is too valuable to risk serious injury if he misses on the next one. Keep doing the Griddy instead.
  17. @ProblemChild This win is for those who thought that the Indians were "folding the football tepee in a few years".
  18. Here is the stat summary for the game. https://www.turbostats.team/football/covingtonholycross/hc indians 2023_game10_box.html Lots of points tonight as Newport edges Covington Holy Cross 44-42. The Indians led 28-22 at the half. In the 2nd half, the Wildcats score 22 unanswered points to go up 44-28. However, HC makes it a game with two late 4th quarter TDs to make the game 44-42. In a game of multiple 2 point conversion attempts, the difference was a broken up HC 2 point attempted pass by the Wildcats with 30 seconds left. These two teams battle each other again next week in the 1st round of the 1A playoffs next Saturday, 11/4 at 1pm. Newport will be the home team with the site TBD at this time.
  19. They better get that guy into the witness protection program soon for his safety.
  20. This year's Indians team is very talented AND with a lot of freshmen. We can't wait for them to grow up and get the mental part right. The middle school program is currently very successful. They have gone to the playoffs the last two years and have had very good regular season records. Good things ahead for Holy Cross. In that vein, you can see Ludlow's strength - senior leadership. I believe that they had 15 seniors recognized last night. You can also that the team is physically and mentally strong and plays well together. That takes time to build that culture if they didn't have it before. Congrats to the Panthers for their district title.
  21. Here is the stat summary for the game. https://www.turbostats.team/football/covingtonholycross/hc indians 2023_game9_box.html On Senior Night, Ludlow captures the 1A District 4 title with a convincing 38-13 win over Covington Holy Cross. For the Panthers, Miles Garrett rushes for 147 yards and 2 long touchdowns (80 and 45 yards). Aiden SmithBaxley also added 2 rushing TDs. QB Jackson Mays went 11-21 for 163 yards and 2 scores to Ethan Powel and Miles Garrett. For the Indians, Ulysses Porter rushed for 121 yards and one TD. QB Donovan Ambrocio went 2-7 for 49 yards and one score to Davonte Ryan. HC opened the game well with a nice drive and touchdown, but two subsequent Porter fumbles turned the momentum to the Panthers. The score at the half was 12-7 Ludow. In the second half, it was all Panthers with multiple scores to put the game out of reach. Holy Cross is now 5-4 and finishes their regular season at home against Newport next Friday night. Ludlow is now 6-3 and finishes on the road against Paris next Friday night.
