  1. In college, they review the hits to determine "targeting". If so, the player is ejected. Maybe that is what the NFL needs.
  2. You made the comments, not me (I bolded them). Your comments, right or wrong, intended or unintended, are no different than most sports followers (especially the violent sports). You seemed annoyed that players can't act like Tatum and Lott anymore. We get so excited with the "big hit" when all the fans go "ooooooooooooooooo". A large percentage of players have focused on the intimidation factor to play the game (in lieu of developing the skills to tackle and hit properly). The NFL can make all the rule changes they want to try to protect players (and they should), but enforcement will be tough because the calls were always be subjective. The players are going to have to learn that these sorts of actions will no longer be tolerated in the future.
  3. You probably ought to have conversations with all the families of NFL players who were diagnosed with CTE. It sounds like you are more annoyed with the inconvenience to you watching the games because of all the extra penalties. I bet you would really like the original Gladiators (and I'm not talking about the TV show either).
  4. I think it also dumb that a head referee does not get to work with his entire team in the playoffs.
  5. True, 51 was his longest, but he was also 2 for 2 from beyond 50. I would have not bet against his chances if the kick had been longer.
  6. Not top 5 for me. 1. Bengals - 1989 Super Bowl loss. 2. Reds - game 7 of the 1972 World Series. 3. Bengals - 1981 Super Bowl loss. 4. Reds - 1999 - lose in one game playoff to Mets. 5. UC Bearcats basketball - March, 2000 - Kenyon Martin breaks leg in loss to St. Louis in Conference USA tournament. I could probably think of more, but this is what comes to mind. For the last couple decades, I don't allow myself too much emotion with anything that the Bengals might do.
  7. But we always some to come crawling back (at least I speak for myself)...and the NFL knows this.
  8. There are some views of that hit here that I had not seen before. Since I was at the game, I had only seen the last one which was inconclusive. But the others ones in this video are pretty clear to Burfict's intent. I also think that a good athlete such as Burfict could have avoided the head shot. I don't agree with the thought process that he didn't have time to adjust. The brain of a skilled, trained athlete needs very little time to realize that the ball is overthrown and to tell the body that an adjustment is necessary. Burfict was obviously not looking to make the appropriate play to win the game, but was selfishly more interested in punishing Brown. That cost the Bengals the game. I believe Jones' penalty made less of a difference (although it was unforgiveable). I think Boswell was kicking well enough to have made that kick from 50 yards (his 35 yarder was right down the middle).
  9. I'm in a lottery group at work of about 20 people. Stats say I would get $28 million after taxes if the group wins. That's crazy.
  10. It has taken me over 24 hours to type a post in one of these threads. I was that angry today that I refused to go near my computer or phone. I told someone I needed a lobotomy. I did hear something funny, however: What do the Bengals and God have in common? Both are the same yesterday, today, and forever.:lol2:
  11. I think that was his problem - thinking too much "inside the box".
  12. PBS use the UBU Sports' Speed Series S5-M synthetic turf system. It won't be sloppy. Footing will be about wearing the right kind of shoes. I just wonder how hard it will rain. I remember that 4th quarter in 2013, playing the Patriots, when a monsoon hit. Brady couldn't see nor could he get a good grip on the ball for passing. It was mentioned that Big Ben has big hands which should help him.
  13. Ash Wednesday (beginning of Lent) is February 10. Always a good time to see if any of the eight (or more than one) are possible to give up for 40 days.
  14. What is this "sex" thing you keep talking about?:idunno:
  15. When it involves the NFL, it is all about the money. A guy that I work with (huge Steelers fan) had bought single tickets on Ticketmaster for the last Bengals/Steelers game here. He received an email with "Dear valued Bengals season ticket holder" offering him playoff tickets. He certainly wasn't going to say no. I wonder how many other Steelers fans got similar emails. Kind of hard to create a home field advantage when it is that easy.
  16. Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania offers several all-inclusive options. Lots to do. My wife and I went on our honeymoon there in 1985. Unfortunately, our resort was torn down to create a casino. But there are several other places that remain. I played my first ever round of golf there.
