  1. Not really bailing on players and coaches if you are going to make players and coaches State Champions now is it ? However, if you read the thread, you may notice that there could be other motivations besides football.....
  2. This could be one of the issues. I'm pretty sure Lickert has certification to be a principal. I would guess that career track could be a factor in this decision, irrespective of being at a public school or not. Also pretty sure the Campbell schools do not allow Principals to be Head Coaches. All in all, this may be less about football and more about career / retirement / etc...
  3. Stunned at this statement.....is this for real ?
  4. 21 & 24 would be a career night I'm guessing. Hope she gets it
  5. They do not want to vacate their current facility to be on campus
  6. Not at all true. 35 point differential, running clock second half only. No running clock first half.
  7. Good to (very briefly) see you last night ! Did you end up shelling out for a cake ?
  8. Spot on Sweeper....everyone take personal responsibility...coaches, players and parents....this program's success has been built on the internal machine, not the external noise....the noise has always been there, but for some reason, now, people are listening to the noise, instead of paying attention to the machine. So get in the weight room, get you some 60 minutes and get back to the basics....all the way back to the basics....
  9. Good to know. What was the final ? Do you see that trend remaining or was Paris off ?
  10. We agree, it is a lot of points. The game in it's totality is likely a better indicator of the sportsmanship factor (which is what I suspect your position is about) rather than just the final score.
  11. No, it only ran the second half....or 16 minutes of time and I have no doubt that adjustments were made. Athletic disparities happen all the time and it is incumbent on the teams with lesser talent to make the scheduling decisions that are best for their team. In this case, Beechwood would have done better to not have a Varsity team, or only play a JV schedule that was hand picked....there has to be some culpability on the part of the team with lesser ability as well.
  12. Apparently acknowledgement that teams can keep the ball from another team when they are up big.....(see HC / Beechwood thread). It doesn't matter because that's not what the argument was, but rather a difference of perception of "running up the score" as a means to humiliate a team. There will be no changing any minds on this one.....
  13. This has absolutely no bearing on the argument. This is Varsity level basketball, not categorized by grade level, but by competition level. You have a new coach at Beechwood, who likely had no hand in this schedule, nor would it make much difference. The alternative view to this "run up the score" rant, is to view the game as a practice and run your sets (which I'm sure they did) and execute on those sets. If that's a layup, then it's a layup. To attempt to dictate the type of shot (a lesser percentage by your description) is the wrong approach. Neither the offensive nor the defensive team gets better by playing "monkey in the middle" for 16 minutes of running clock. Is the score lopsided, yes. Is it difficult, as a player, coach and parent, to take it on the chin every night like this, yes. Does it help anyone to hold the ball and wait for the clock to run out, no. If that is the strategy, how could Beechwood ever get better ? Why not just scrap the season and not have a program ? Flawed logic in the argument....no one wants to be on the losing end of these games, no one wants to sit in the stands for these games, no one wants to play these games and no one wants to officiate these games....but if you are Beechwood, you better work at getting better at the game, during the game if you don't want the same experience next time. Good luck to Beechwood....I like their kids and coaches, always respectful and play hard.....just not going to win a lot of games, and they seem to be able to embrace that a lot better than some outside observers.
  14. There is more to this story than the Boone County BOE not recognizing her visa.... I'm not suggesting I have any additional information, but the process here doesn't make sense. I suspect that there may be some additional technical threads that are not being seen. The visa process is precarious at best and in this situation, without having all the details, sounds like it has some potential guardianship issues at hand as well. If her parents are moving back to their home country and she is a minor dependent, that would seem to be part of the issue as well. @Lawnboy13 we need to get some more information from Tony to better assess this one....for the record, Coach Stephenson has to be ecstatic
  15. Holding the ball and passing it a set number of times is not a way to keep from embarrassing a team.....that is much like treating them like a 3rd grade team, not a high school varsity team.
  16. Not taking a side...but that really can't happen at CCHS. There is a track and a bench buffer, as well as a no stand rail. The distance between the stands and the players is a non factor...but I get what you're getting at.... Now at HHS, completely different story...but they also understand how a running clock works... May want to chalk this one up to football IQ
  17. Shouldn't be any debate...it's not a put down, just an awareness for everyone in the place that the game clock is changing. If you don't like the announcement, I guess maybe you shouldn't get a running clock score put on you....
  18. All true...however if you consider that you are entering a gym known as "The Igloo" with a Polar Bear for a mascot (and no disrespect at all intended), then we should expect a certain uniqueness in the tournament history. Looks like a well matched line up and should be fun.
  19. I think maybe he was referring to the 10th Region....
  20. How do you "deserve" to be anything ? If you couldn't beat the best, then you aren't the best. First you say that it's Augusta and St Pat's fault...now it's because Mason had a D1 pitcher you couldn't beat.... How is it that somehow you feel entitled to be in the region, through a defacto award of second place ? Was there some belief that somehow you would have a miracle day and beat Mason's D1 pitcher ? Flawed logic. Either you can win, or you can't. But to attempt to justify being rewarded for mediocrity by punishing those on a less firm footing is asinine logic.
  21. ....because they look like they are holding Augusta and St Pat hostage until they get what they want....or else they are taking their ball and staying home. Do people in Brooksville really not get how that looks to everyone else on the outside ?
