  9. Looks like we've got some new profile pictures floating around on here in the last couple of days. @nWo that's a great look. @RedHawk, I was wondering if that was the Red Hawk your username was referencing. @BirdDaddy adds in a look at the Highlands JumBird-Tron. @Bluebird adds in a nice and clean look with the Highlands Soccer logo. @MaddenCurse44 I dig the new look, representing Greater Cincinnati. And @Finkle Ray, I was kinda anticipating seeing something from Ace Ventura, and instead you gave me a good laugh with your new profile picture.
  10. I hadn't been told the name of the bowl, but I remember seeing in one of the team schedules (I believe Adair's) that they were playing in a bowl at Marion County. Cool sponsor for a bowl game!!
  11. My father in law retired 3 years ago as the second-most-senior UPS driver in the state of Kentucky. Over 40 years as a full-time driver (and the busted up knees, ankles, and hips to show for it...plus he has about 30% hearing loss from sitting in a big metal box and listening to a diesel engine droning for over 40 years). Don't make any mistake, UPS offered top notch health insurance and they paid well, but unless UPS was offering their drivers over six figures worth of benefits, annually, there is absolutely zero chance that that "$170,000 a year in pay and benefits" statement is anywhere near accurate.
  12. I'm hearing Griffin Starks, younger brother of Chandler Starks, will be at Newport now.
  13. So they have troubles with their new bus schedule and THAT is the answer??
  14. The final number from The Last Waltz, one of The Band's signature songs, "I Shall Be Released". Most of the musical guests from the concert joined on stage to perform along with them. Bob Dylan Ronnie Wood (The Rolling Stones) Van Morrison Ringo Starr (The Beatles) Eric Clapton Jeff Beck Joni Mitchell Neil Young Neil Diamond Dr. John Ronnie Hawkins (responsible for organizing The Band)
  15. The Band is one of my all-time favorites, without question. I've always been a huge Americana music fan, and Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and The Band are among the founding fathers of the genre. Admittedly, I've rolled my eyes at Robbie Robertson and his ego quite a few times in my life, but that doesn't change the fact that he was an absolutely vital part of one of the most compelling bands I've ever listened to. The Band memorialized their final concert with a huge Thanksgiving Day celebration of music, filmed by Robbie Robertson's close friend Martin Scorsese. The Last Waltz has gone down as one of the definitive and archetypal concert films ever made. A small group of friends and I have been getting together on Thanksgiving night every year after all of the dinner festivities end for nearly two decades now to watch The Last Waltz and relish in the great music. Richard Manuel died just before I turned 5, so that had virtually no effect on me. Rick Danko died during my freshman year of college, and I remember that giving me pause. Levon Helm died just over a decade ago. His death left me reeling a good bit - especially since he was my favorite member of The Band in addition to his intriguing life and his undeniably unique vocal presence. And now Robbie...well, it's really sad for me thinking that only one more member, Garth, the least personable member of The Band, is left remaining. I've been spinning my The Band records all night tonight.

  18. For the new members on BGP and for those who may not have ever added a profile picture, it's not necessary, but we definitely like to encourage everyone to add a profile picture. I was looking at the recent activity page and noticed that we have quite a few posts from folks without profile pictures. Adding a profile picture just kinda adds to your on-line personality and helps make it all the more interesting as we all read things here on the site. Try to have fun with it!
  19. North Laurel streams on the NFHS Network. They have their regular season games shown on the Jaguars' football broadcast schedule but nothing is showing for the scrimmage. I also checked North Laurel's football team Facebook page, and no mention of the scrimmage or a livestream, so we may be out of luck there.
  20. I'm definitely excited to see what Coach Hensley is able to make happen at Scott this year. I've never heard anything but compliments of the guy, and I love getting to see underdogs do well. In the wake of the departure of Coach Owens combined with Scott's move up to 5A, it's hard not to think they're more than likely the biggest underdog in their district.
  21. 21 teams in 21 days: Scott football preview | LinkNKY Sounds like Scott is going to be a very young team, with only 6 returning seniors (they only had 7 juniors last year). They show 20 juniors this year on the roster from the KHSAA Scoreboard, along with 16 sophomores and 7 frosh. Roster of 50, total, which is down from 68 last year and 66 the year before. From the article, it looks like they have 2 players vying for the starting quarterback spot. Their Hudl roster shows juniors Paul Kramer and Jordan Goff both as QBs along with sophomore Trey Cook. Goff and Cook both saw playing time last year at QB. Starting OL/DL Carter Sackett returns as a senior along WR/DB Dylan Giffen, WR/LB Boomer Klusman, and kicker Charlie Woodring. Junior Kaymon Coleman is playing his first year for Scott (he was a solid basketball player for the Eagles last year), and will be playing WR/DB. Leading rushers will likely be junior Mason Rue (also playing his first year of football), and along with juniors Josh Johnson, who had varsity carries last year, and AJ Lemon who played primarily on the Eagles' froshmore team last year.
