I don't consider Belfry a power team. They run the Belly read, which is more of an option attack. Ft. Campbell did beat NCC which was a power team. Refresh my memory which power team did Bowling Green beat or PT? Can't remember.

I am not expert but I will give my opinion. Coach Larkey's teams (Rock and now Harlan Co.) do a good job of containing the edge and keeping offenses boxed in. They bring pressure every play off the edges in an attempt to force you to run between the OT's. The will give up the big play sometimes but driving the ball is very difficult. On offense they have the perfect plan to attack speed, run straight at it and control the clock.

They are but a scrimmage is a chance to experience "live fire" unlike practice. Kids will do things different in a scrimmage. You have a different color and different players lined up across from you. IMO the teams that typically struggle take the scrimmages much more serious than the traditional powers, they want to get that winning way going.

HC has great size and strength very, very physical on both sides of the ball, unlike the teams from the west. They don't have the speed the teams from the west have had but play a style that don't depend on it. They are a 3 yard and a cloud of dust team. Control the clock and play good defense. Their style of play will cause lots of problems for teams that don't see that week in and week out. They will be a tough out for everyone.

Both. Harlan Co. will have an easy path to Bowling Green. They probably benefited from the new classification better than anyone else. Corbin looked poorly prepared for the HC defense. Not a good job by the staff preparing them for the defense they faced. Corbin is very young not very big but will get better as the season goes. Too much pride and tradition to go away quietly.

They are used for fundamentals for most teams.

Impressed with the burg, not so much with KC. Not sure what they were trying to do? Looks like they are having an identity crisis. Barger is not a runner, he is a scrambler their is a difference. They need to line up and pound people.

IMO Russell Co. will finish 2nd in their district behind Knox. They play pretty good football. So the showing by MCC is not as bad as it appears.

Coach Herron does a good job at W'burg. They will continue to be a good football team. It looks as if some of the Corbin kids are looking to other schools. How funny it is with the shoe on the other foot.

I heard the big OL player Combs I think is the 1 hurt?? Hopefully not season ending. Lawrence has had some good records but to be totally honest have played nobody to amass those wins.

Wayne, in my opinion, will be a clear favorite for that third place spot. Casey has a new coach and lost several good players.

Dixie, i hear, is doing a great job of being resourceful with outside talent. AAU basketball is drawing some top talent to the hardwoods at DH and the football team will benifit greatly from this as well. Very talented QB will be Soph next year and loaded with raw potential is coming to DH as soon as school is out!

Bell will be fine. Most of the coaching staff remain in place and I think Coach Mills will do a fine job replacing Dudley.

Did Smitty coach at Union College in the mid 90's? I think they have found their coach as to others have been notified that they made a decision!

Whitley is down on talent but as many has said have a good coaching staff and should be able to compete somewhat. Harlan Co. will be heads and shoulders above the rest in the district.

Anyone have any of the names that supposedly intreviewed for this job. I know a couple but just wondering if who the others were?

Good sign for LWC. Those 2 kids will contribute to the program. Not surprised they did not sign with Pikeville and I am glad they did not.

Here is a something for the LM faithful to chew on when thinking about Coach Shear. He started the season at B.H.S. last year with around 50 kids and ended the season with 46. Player retention is very important in building stability. He also will get in the hall ways and recruit new players. He will support the other programs along with football team. Being a coach there in Northern Ky with the Arena team speaks volumes of his desire to stay in that area so you know you will have a coach thats in it for the long hall. This also proves that he is one that will be highly involved in the community!

Coach Shear would make LM a heck of a coach. Has an abundance of experience, knows what it takes to play at the next level and how to get the kids prepared for that experience. IMO he just got caught up in a bad situation and was used literally for a year!
