Could he do it alone, no but him sitting and Robinson getting hurt the heart of the defense was gone. Others gave effort sometimes you need your warriors on the field for others to bring it. If you think I believe it was 38-8 game with those two playing you are crazy. CCH has walked off too much the last 6 years. On talent off-seasons make talent move to elite. I agree that have talent but some mentioned in this thread was elite. Hodge, Mayer, etc.

Step a way for morning and playing catch up. In regards to last week, I think Agee and Hummel came to play and got tired of the Cam, Noon, Bottom hype. This game has a big asterisk as LaFrange was out and Robinson went out in the first series. Folks they are not going to run a muck otherwise period. On the talent or potential front I think Bottom, Cam, Benke company needs to produce and show the results of the hype. Do they have the ability absolutely but there is a lot of blood, sweat and tears that goes to obtain those goals. Could have Benke been used more for sure. Get better at the little things b able to block, work with one another. Welch injury killed the passing game. McNick had two on Jake wherever he went. We have some great young receivers work hard. I think you have 3 returning lineman which with strength in offseason should bode well. Kissee, LaFrange, Surrey are going to be difficult to replace, but I have faith in those next in line. Carry the stick forward and finish what that group started!

All valid points. I see some changes but again HHS teaching positions are hard to come by. I like both Bob and Hayden. He came in and did not sugarcoat. I expected the defense to lead and for the most part they did. Inability to move chains, have any semblance of a running game, and QB get all you can get philosophy. The Jake W. Injury was devastating. He could get behind the coverage and stretch the field. I think Hinegardner can get there just not ready this year. I agree with others that the offense needed work. I would get the Schneider kid healthy use that TE in the middle and drag routes. Line needs to get stronger and develop depth. Just look back at the playoff game see the difference in line play and running back getting to the second level. Cov Cath faithful will state that they came out on a different level. Just not the case. Two players that basically control the middle were missing. No excuses kids get injured next up mentality. They just were not physically equipped to handle the job at hand. Add in playoffs and rivalry and you get whipped.

The two opted out of basketball we’re good role players that could not develop in basketball as the time needed to work. Both are exceptional football players and should be common names for the.success of the program. I agree with others you have an occasional athlete that is a freak and can play them all. Others realize that doing them fine but the end result it hurts them in one or the other. I have been in the camp you have 4 years enjoy it all. It all depends on the child and love for the sport. Coaches have different personalities and it has been shared by many which is fun and which is a hard pass. My only other thought is QB position has to be a born leader and if you are going to rise in that competition, you better live it. You have QB that plays multi sports. It makes a difference. The offense hurt the defense all year. Sure they were young and the skill set is there. I challenge that group. Defense was short handed big time in the playoffs. Effort was still there. Continue to work hard.

The past program conditioning was not the same. Coach first words we are 20 lbs light per Man talking muscle. Nevels joined the fold. You can say what you want about the end result; however, I can say with certainty that if my Boy could conjure up eligibility he would stay and fight with this staff and underclass man. His exact words early starts in the weight room in season and the dedication to craft is special. If I had this for 3 years we would not be discussing which school might offer but rather who would I like to pick. Trust the process. Truth of the matter is nothing is wrong at HHS; the other programs in NKY has gotten a lot better. We are going to adjust and up the game.

Hummel had his best game period! Love the work there. I think that is a fair recap. For Highlands special teams need to be special and I too would look to immediately address this. I think the birds were young and the defense was missing two that you can’t miss without a change in the outcome. Would CCH be the same without Jones and Sullivan last night. That would be a big No. I like Hodge and hope he continues progression. Robinson will be back. I think Fenick will step in to the LaFrange roll and he has been challenged by the departing Senior. For the Seniors, I know this is not how or what you wanted but remind the troops, season started 1March and OC arrived in June. Work hard players are made in the off-season.

Again I am not saying it, but again if you watched the first game he was a man among boys. Now I have to agree that Cov Cath ran hard and was at another gear, but again how many first downs the birds had the first half? The boys were small. Another year in the weight room and the Sophs get better. Work hard and I believe good things are ahead. I honestly do!!!

Congrats to Cov Cath. They played hard. HHS will be back. For those that question the defense, they played hard. LaFrange could not go and Robinson went down on the third play. Sounded like a good game. Conditions were not great for pass oriented offenses. I expected a lot of Agee last night. Defense wins the day and we have some good ones in NKY.

If you watch the tape, some were led to believe a couple of inept offenses between the two; keen eyes can tell Strong backers lead the programs. Fair enough I like Sullivan and Jones. Jones and Robinson both have another year. I expect them to lead the programs. For the Birds I expect Hodge, Roller and Fenick to work hard this off-season to keep moving forward. Surrey and LaFrange are going to be hard to replace on the defense; but Dunn should lead that side of the ball.

There kids, HHS game against Conner was terrible, just like Coopers effort last night. I think any body can come out of NKY 5A but I like the past two games from the birds. Defense is playing great and the three headed young offense monster was unveiled. If the birds find away to move the ball and get offense like last night watch out. This puts Robinson mostly back at LB. You get LaFrange back in playoffs and Higgason has come along and the dline swarms. Kissee is playing well both ways and I truly believe with Surrey, LaFrange, Higgason and Robinson is the best group of linebackers in NKY. Add in Dunn and Noon as hitters and the back safeties watch out. May the fireworks begin.

The Birds offense came alive! Nice young combos played well. Defense did there thing! I was not impressed with the Jags they did not look good tonight.

I have valid concerns. I hope the boys rally offensively and the defense has a stellar showing once again. Like it is always said next Man up. I expect the boys to understand what is in front of them.

I agree with the ongoing theme. If a boy can play at the next level and gets a percentage of school pay for sign me up. I wouldn’t play if the money isn’t right to much time and taxing on the body. I also laugh at the D1 talent. It is hard at the NAIA and D2 level. Most go academic route d3 with more consideration of aide because of said sport.

Again we needed somebody to tote the ball. I am sure he graded out as best option limiting his defensive snaps. Obviously last game the problem wasn’t the defense. I think the offense best series was the last. Cooper has a pocket passer and a very good running back so another tough game. I do think the defense had a fantastic game. Go back and watch the game and tell me some kids can’t tackle. Some acts on here are getting old.

Both offenses were vanilla; but the defenses came to play. I reviewed the fg and yes the left guard was blown up. However late in the snap count handcuffed the attempt. I agree with others take penalty and reset kick. Why was there confusion? Same team all year, I think? #6 King, # 18 Surrey, #64 LaFrange and #69 Kissee were a group of senior defensive players that left it all on the field for their final home game. I expect a rematch is coming. Many on here sold the Birds short and thought this would be lopsided, guess again.

It is amazing how tackling evolved. In my era there was bull in the ring, Oklahoma and nobody had green or red jerseys; however we brought the wood and we wrapped. You miss tackles even in practice conditioning was a bear! Football has become soft, in HHS case they have specific drills and it will get better. What I have seen in film is tackle to high and they don’t finish. I have seen missed tackles go from negative yards to 8 yard gains. That has to be corrected.

Exactly! I am 110% in agreement. This not last year birds. Very talented groups coming in framed with weight program. I am very proud of the Senior group! They are the table setters. Season is not done yet; regardless they stayed the course and I am confident that Sphire and his coaches will get this right! As a Senior parent, I am excited about the program, the kids, the coaches. Sometimes seasons don’t end in championships, the true measure of a Man is if you left it better than started! I see new leaders emerging on the field and am excited for the community. Folks this was not a quick fix! I can guarantee you this Coach Sphire is not going to disagree with effort. You don’t bulk up overnight.
