I have heard it started with the Brooksville High School's name being the Bears and that the Polar part came with the creation of Bracken Co. HS. Don't know the story on the "polar" part.

This should have never gone to criminal court and I think the verdict cam back correct. But Coach Stinson will probably have a wrongful death suit coming his way. Civil court is where this belonged the entire time. I stand with Coach Stinson though as this man was demonized by many. This was an awful situation that snowballed, thanks to the media, into something entirely on another level. My prayers have been and will continue to be with both the Gilpin family and Coach Stinson and his family.

Ha, as a Caketown-born boy, I think you've had more and more kids becoming more unpredictable in where they go to school, including in my own family. When it comes to losing or gaining classes, dead on with the waxing and waning. Some years BBHS has a large incoming class, NCC's goes down, or vice versa. My brother already has the next three classes predicted as was the same with me when I was in high school. I'd say that has a larger influence on basketball though. NCC's not losing football players to Brossart yet, and theyre not losing them to Campbell either, just gaining. So far, 90% of the kids in Campbell Co. outside Ft. Thomas who see football as a priority have gone to NCC. Not bashing any program, thats just the way I see it. Thats tradition. After this year, potentially hinging alot on this week, more football players might look at Campbell and Brossart as being welcoming options. I would contend this county has the most interesting situation with incoming classes outside Fayette and Jefferson.

53 votes for Lexington Catholic, 14 votes for Lone Oak, and yes that might have been surpassed but polls werent as common in week 1 as they are now.

That was only a 25-17 vote upset. The largest upset was voted against 53-14.

I'd say spreading it to Hardin Co. has a lot to do with it. Brossart's been introduced to it. Thats a given. First step is to contain it from other areas.

Ten days is the common number thrown around for swine flu, at least for college students and that age. Does that mean, if we're dealing with potential multiple cases, that Brossart might be cancelling next week's game by the end of this week? And at what time can we see the state/KHSAA getting involved in cancelling sporting events themselves? My opinion, coming from what I've heard and what I've seen occur at UK, is that alot of students in high school and college will get swine flu. Luckily it seems that this group also seems to bounce back fairly well. The unfortunate reality, and the reason why great concern is being placed on this issue, is that if enough cases occur we will have a death or multiple deaths of students, that is if there already hasn't been. If this is the start of something big, then an institution such as the state government or KHSAA must have a firm hand in quashing the spread of this disease through these events. We are fortunate that cases usually settle out in 2 weeks. I'm also assuming that the farther the travel, the more likely a game will be cancelled because of the fear of spreading H1N1 to a new area.

I've been told that this senior class at NewCath has had 15 players quit before this point. Seniors currently number 8 out of 36. That means, though it would it be the opposite extreme to say all 15 stuck around, they could be numbering 23 out of 51. The numbers are all about this class being small in numbers. In turn, thats the main reason theyre struggling right now. None of what I just said is derogatory to those 15, if thats the true number, just stating what I heard and what it means. They are very inexperienced, especially at the secondary and QB. The worst suprise though has been the defensive line as Mr. Elliot pointed out so many times as he burst right through it as if it were a wet paper bag. Yes, there are experienced players like Chris Kelly, Garrett Brown, Jake Smith, and Austin Siemer (the last 3 being seniors), but those guys are struggling to bring the whole picture together. When they do, IMO, NewCath will be back to form. They are a good team. The class of 07 I believe went through a similar pattern when they started out 2-5 and won state behind a great RB, a QB in his first starting season, and a group of receivers/DBs that really came together late and involved a lot of juniors.

As for the 75%, its a pretty good number for a public poll. Can anyone guess, according to the poll at the top of its thread, was the biggest upset yet?

From info gathered from all polls available to access, polls were correct 99 times, wrong 31, and the result was tied twice. This means 75% of the time they were correct, 23.5% incorrect, and tied 1.5%. Trends show that the most unpredictable area was what is the 16th region in basketball, with the majority those other upsets being located in NKY and the southeast.

Yes, but every game I can remember in recent history, NCC has won over the Camels because of an outstanding performance behing center, examples being Sam Diehl (with the exception of his 3 INTs in the Breds' home game of the series) and Robby Kues (2 minute drive his junior year to send the game to OT). They have met 4 times in the last 6 years, twice with Diehl at the helm and twice with Kues. Diehl's sophomore year the Breds won 10-0. The next year was another shutout, this time 19 -0. A two year hiatus was followed by a barn burner with the Breds winning in OT 26 - 23, one of the most incredible drives in NCC history sending the game to OT. Last year's game saw the Breds offense putting up 34 over the Camels' 21. My question is: can Brady Hightchew match the performances of these past QB's? Or will he be another underclassmen that throws 3 picks to the CCHS defense?

Both teams coming off tough games, especially NewCath taking the 45-0 beating at home. Both teams looking for a bounce back game here. Which one gets it and proves themselves better than last week? I'll say NewCath is still feeling a black and orange headache but narrowly gets this one 21 -17.

I will take E-Town 42 - 7. The Stangs looked good but against single A schools that are simply struggling. Obviously this is the best Brossart football team ever. That actually might be the most obvious statement ever. They have come along way but they are not yet good enough to compete with a 3A team like E-Town.
