Not sure why Highland canceled the JV game against Beechwood today at Highland Park. Field was fine. Must have been "out of respect".

Nope. In fact Varsity is not supposed to play home games this year. The varsity schedule I have, Beechwood, has the game at Highlands. JV plays Friday and Varsity on Monday... both at 5PM. Could be wrong, but that's what I was told.

Nice player. Did hear that they are going to, initially, have him on JV. They are going to give the older boys a chance to keep the varsity role. Nice that they have some loyalty to the older boys. Not sure how things will shake out when Maher finishes basketball. Did Luke Maile start as a Freshman?

I know that McCracken used to have a 7 on 7 tournament for Freshman. Does anyone know of any others?

I would think Mayer could fill in anywhere and the Kennedy boy can also play the corners. Both are good size with Alex built more like a catcher... 6' 190lbs. CCH has a few more that are very good catchers coming next year also with Bowman, McGinniss and Coldiron. Colonels will be set at that position for a while.

My nickel says the catcher slot will be filled by one of two freshman.... Mayer or Alex Kennedy. Mayer caught last year up a year for Kentucky Colonels and Kennedy catches up for Midland.

I agreee... BW controlled the line of scrimmage. They were the better team last night and the better team lost. You can't turn the ball over that much and expect to win. I think MF coaches know this. Take that to 2a, knowing you were the 2nd best team this year. You're welcome for the going away gift.

I just looked at the field of teams for the tourney.... pretty impressive. Was this an invite based on college signees on the BW team?

He does that at least once per year.

Talk about a one-man band... The Perrin kid is fun to watch. He moves like that guy from Matrix and everyone else is in slow motion. Correct me if I am wrong... He starts Freshmand, starts JV and plays Varsity? If that is the case then I think that is sad that Scott has to play him at the frosh level to win a championship. I hope that I am wrong. Castleman for Beechwood was the other standout. Fun game. Keep your head up Tigers.

Agreed. Thats not easy. I've heard a few names tossed around that they may convert to the middle.

It will come down to Highlands and Beechwood. Whichever coach can get his team to peak at the right time, and avoid the injury bug, they will win. Beechwood peaked at the All A... which was way too early. Highlands looked lackluster many of the times I watched them but by the end of the year they just started believing in themselves. Beechwood had a better team. Timing matters.

I would be very surprised if he didn't go there. His brother does well there and Casey is always boasting for cch. Stranger things have happened. I did hear a rumor that he may go to Beechwood.... which would be great for us.... but I think it is just that, a rumor.

Too nice on Highlands you say......which one would you say isnt? I personally have seen 95% of the 8th graders play both during and in offseason and I will stick to my list. I respect your opinion. That class for Highlands will be very good. Walton will do well, but the team to beat, IMO, is the Cov Cath class for next year. Based on our lists, the front court will be Thelen, Coldiron and Stallman. Add Mcginnis (Blessed Sacrament BTW) and a host of 1 guards. That team will be special. Thanks for the welcome, Q.

I think you have a pretty good list here. You may have been a little nice to the Highlands boys, but overall a nice list. I would add: Mitchell Schilling - Beechwood Raqwon Williams - Turkeyfoot Evan Stallman - Saint Pius
