Talk about a one-man band... The Perrin kid is fun to watch. He moves like that guy from Matrix and everyone else is in slow motion. Correct me if I am wrong... He starts Freshmand, starts JV and plays Varsity? If that is the case then I think that is sad that Scott has to play him at the frosh level to win a championship. I hope that I am wrong. Castleman for Beechwood was the other standout. Fun game. Keep your head up Tigers.

Perrin did play QB in the 4 JV games Scott played. Several other of the freshman played JV as well. Perrin and several other freshman do dress varsity, but have gotten very little playing time, none of it meaningful. Believe me, while winning a freshman championship may be nice, that is not the goal of the freshman program...it's to get these kids valuable playing time and experience. Numbers still aren't where they need to be to support a full separate JV and Freshman programs.

Is Perrin a freshman? Then nothing to complain about. I don't care if he is the starting QB on varsity. It is a freshman championship and he is a freshman. Congratulations to Scott on the title and to Beechwood on being that close to winning.

Nelson Perrin looks like he plays at a different speed than everybody else. Castleman, Thursa, and Perrin were definitely the best players on the field tonight. Perrin is a special player. If he grows look out!

I don't totally disagree with you, VOR. This is the argument that happens nearly every year in baseball. My son played freshman baseball last year and the team did quite well. They beat some really good teams.... but come tournament time kids that played very little, or no freshman ball... on teams we had already played, started coming out of the woodwork.

There used to be a rule that a player cannot play more than 6 High School quarters in one week. Why was that rule in place? It's necessary in situations like this. The reason I brought this up is that one of the Eagle parents told me that he STARTS on the JV team. If he starts then he should not be allowed to come back down. Period. If he just gets some reps here and there without any major contribution then I don't see why he can't still play freshman. It's not Rules... it's ethics.

 

They haven't played a JV game in almost 3 weeks and they played a total of 4 JV games over the course of the entire season. The freshman team played a total of 7 games including tonight. 11 games total. I'm not sure how ethics plays a part in this. These are developmental games. You can call this a championship game if you want, and I guess technically it is. But there's no trophy, no freshman all star team, no awards given, etc. The idea is to develop, teach and give your younger kids a chance to play. Nearly every kid on the freshman team for Scott got some JV time this year, and yes a few started those 4 JV games. So what?? The freshman "championship" means very little in the grand scheme of things. The bulk of Perrin's playing time this year (as well as all the other freshman that played JV) occurred while playing freshman football.

I agree, a non-issue. It happens in other sports too. But if a kid is a frosh, he has the right to go back down to that level and play, and the school has the right to do it!

We'll just agree to disagree. It doesn't bother me at all when a freshman who has played JV plays in a freshman playoff/tournament - football, basketball, baseball, whatever. I want the best freshmen athletes playing in the tournament. And in this game if I am Beechwood, I want to beat Scott with Perrin - not without him.

I can't believe I forgot about this game. Sounds like a great one.

from what it sounds like this was a good game to watch, how many touchdowns did Perrin have and how many touchdowns did Castleman have ? I do believe Bwood has 4 to 5 8th graders playing. i think the Odem, Castleman and Derry kid are freshman. Sorry i do not know any other names that might be 8th graders.
