Also have lost to the best the state has literally!! Mason County is the Achilles heel for GRC. This particular group of Cards still needs to get over the hump against Mason. If they don't get past the Royals in the post season then who cares if they've played the best in the state. I don't think the GRC kids would ever back down from Mason, but I do believe a mental hurdle may exist.

Totally disagree with this statement. GRC has not played in the Fieldhouse for two years. If I was a part of the coaching staff I would take any chance I could get to give my players an early experience of playing on the 10th Region Tournament floor. Too my knowledge, Zollo for instance, has never played on this floor.

Did Cousins punch a South Carolina fan following the loss?
King of Kings replied to LCPATS's topic in College Basketball
" Blount punched another player not a fan who stormed the court and should have never been on the floor in the first place. Cousins is highly volatile and should have been removed from the arena, by the coaching staff, before the final buzzer sounded. All the storming of the court is nothing more than an opportunity for drunk college kids to act a fool. I am amazed that a student athlete hasn't been hurt in these stupid celebrations. -

I never said they were looking ahead. I am sure this was the last chance the coaches had to watch Mason in person before next Friday. What time is the Scott County vs. GRC game? I may have to make the trip to Winchester for that battle. -

The GRC coaching staff was in attendance, getting some scouting in before next weeks matchup at the Fieldhouse. It gets me hyped up just thinking about it. Should be an electric atmosphere at the Fieldhouse. -

No one is comparing the the class systems in the two sports. Just trying to understand how schools can bounce back and forth with that number of male students in the enrollment. I am sorry, but Russell should not be allowed to compete in the All A tournament. -

Has Russell always been an All A school? They are 3A in football, but single A in Basketball? -

Rheuben and Treg completely controlled the paint tonight. I believe Rheuben had a double double. Anyone have official stats? -
Top 5 teams in the state

Holmes has the one advantage that none of these teams can claim. They have played in two straight championship games and have a title ring to show for it. This type of experience will pay the biggest dividends come March. -

Giving Pawsatt way too much credit? You have to be joking. He is arguably the best player on this team. There is no continuity and a major lack of leadership with Pawsatt out. Also, the players your refer to are three of the best players to ever suit up in this region or even in this state. There isn't a current player in this region, other than Robbie Stenzel, who is even close to being on their level. You would be giving too much credit to anyone in this region by trying to mention them in the same breathe as these three players. -

Several of these kids got limited playing time on varsity last year, plus he is only a sophomore. As far as Setty is concerned, if he doesn't toughen up and learn to take contact, he will not be able to improve his game. Mason has plenty of guard play. They do not need Setty standing 25 ft. from the bucket. He must utilize his size and get stronger in the post. -

If you build it, they will come. Montgomery County stepped up to the plate with their beautiful arena. Why doesn't a large 6A school like GRC try and do the same thing? I have been in the GRC facility, and there is no way it could ever hold a major tournament. -

Mason has to get healthy or it is going to be a long season. Tyler Black was out tonight with swelling to his knee. Consistently playing four guys under 6 ft tall is not going to get it done. Mason has looked absolutely terrible playing at the Fieldhouse over the last couple of years. It looks like several winning streaks against 10th region opponents are going to come to and end this season. -
Top 5 teams in the state

The other 15 Regions in the KHSAA should just shut down operations and let the 7th Region teams all go to Rupp Arena in March and play for the state championship. I am so tired of hearing this 7th Region superiority talk and how everyone feels this or that team would not be good enough to compete in this region. How many state championships has the 7th Region won in the last 10 years? Yes, we all know that the Louisville metro area has most of the talent, but to constantly discredit the other teams in the state, due to location, is a travesty. Do you people truly want the KHSAA to adopt a Class system for Basketball? This type of mind set will eventually lead to that happening sooner than later. I feel Elijah Justice could play with any guard in the 7th region and is maybe the top guard in the state. -

Holmes length at the guard position is what really killed Mason tonight. Mason needs to find someone who can score on a consistent basis. Pittman was too much for Setty to handle. Mason made a little run at the end of the game to cut the lead to 3 points, as it appeared the Holmes players were showing some fatigue. Holmes needs to develop more of a bench if they plan to make another run at a state championship.
