Colerain played well but Ryle had one of those quarters where nothing fell in the basket. They had the shots, mostly inside, but nothing fell. Very frustrating for the girls. They'll be ok. Having a week off between games doesn't help.

Ryle started playing the type of schedule they needed to play to continue to improve last year and have followed suit again this year. I confess, before Jenna started playing varsity ball in the 8th grade I didn't pay attention to the girls high school game. I was a Senior in High School when they brought back girls basketball and I was fortunate enough to not only watch, but was freinds with one of the best girls ever in Donna Murphy. There have been a few times I have seen other great players, Jackie Bearden, Rhonda Klette, Jamie Walz play but for me to watch a girls game was rare. Today, I wouldn't miss it! As for basketball, I am an admitted lifelong junkie:) In any genre of the game, you only improve when you play up. (Teams considered better than you). Nothing wrong with taking your lumps as long as there are lessons to be learned. Flashy records impress me only when you have beaten the elite along the way:) Here's to another great year of girls basketball in NKY.

My pick was more of a sentimental one. My wife's cousin plays for Western Hills.

It's good to see schools such as Boone, Ryle, NDA, and Highlands seek tough early season matchups. It will bode well for all of these teams in March.

The #1 team in Cincinnati beat the Rebels, ranked #2 in Northern Kentucky. Boone was led by Sydney Moss's 26 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Kelsey Mitchell scored 26 points for the Vikings.

No real suprise here. Conner will challenge for the 9th Region Crown this year.

This had to be a fun game to watch. Great athletes on both sides of the floor. Congtatulations to the Lady Bluebirds!
