Their defense needs to improve a lot if they want to have a successful season and a chance to win the All A. They have a great draw to get to the finals and you never know what may happen when you get there. They can't afford to get down big and assume they will come back to win the game. They were down as many as 15in the fourth quarter. Cut it to 5 with 2 minutes to go but couldn't get any closer. Give Henry credit. They are a gritty team who gets after it on defense and rebounding. Congrats to Coach Gilley and his 300th win.

Gallatin scored almost half of their points in the 4th quarter and were down 12 going into the 4th quarter.

Gallatin has looked very good this summer with a fast pace game plan and a high basketball iq. They should surprise a lot of people this season. They will try to make the game as fast as possible and make their opponents tired by the end of the game.

Guard play will have a great factor on how far the Lady Cats can go this season. They return to experencied post players and a post player in Brooke Hill who can take over the game whenever she wants. They are very young at point guard but having 2 juniors who have varsity experience should help. The bench is also very young in age and experience on a varsity level. I believe the Lady Cats will surprise some people in some games and then other games they will look like a young team still trying to figure out how to play on a varsity level on a consistent basis.

From what I heard Booher is concentrating on softball. She is a very talented pitcher from what others have told me.

When they play hard and together, they look very good. A much improved team.

Hill is out of town. The Lady Cats are playing real well this summer for as young as they are this year.

I agree with you roundballfanatic. Owen's young group is very good and could see valuable minutes throughout the season.

Owen needs to find a second and probably even a third scorer to compete for the region. Everything is ran through Gayheart who is a great guard but if a team shuts her down, they don't have a consistent scorer to rely on.

Coach Nethery would do an outstanding job. He knows a lot about the game and the kids really like him. Ask any players from Gallatin and now Eminence and I guarantee they will say he is a great coach.

Great win for SK but where were the fans? Both sides did not have many fans. There were hardly any students there for either team. I was very surprised to see how many people did not show up especially from SK a school with 1600 students. Any reason for the low number? If your team is at state you should be there to support them.

It just depends on the officials. Some of them focus on it and some do not. There does need to be more consistency. The games I have watched it doesn't seem to be a problem. Most coaches do not say anything to the referees about it unless it is obvious.

I was also told if the offensive player gets their shoulder past the defensive player before making contact then it is a block on the defender. Just what some referees told me. I also believe kids today would rather go for a blocked shot than sit there and take a charge. I personally believe they think the blocked shot is more flashy and will get the crowd pumped up. Then after the game they can brag about it.

There were many bad calls and no calls on both sides. All year they have been calling fouls on people who put their arms down and not straight up even if a player jumps into their arms. Everyone has seen this call be made, when an offensive player jumps into a defender's arms and a foul be called on the defender. You see it on every level. You have to be willing to adjust on how they are calling the game.
