I'll agree with that, to be honest Elliott County accomplished a lot of things in the regular season and dominated a weak 16th region, but when it comes down to it, they never won an All-A title or a state title. So they are not the greatest small school story in Kentucky History. I can appreciate the fact that Ethan, Evan and Jon were all home-grown Elliott Countians and were what rejuvenated a small community that had no real state-wide recognition before those boys began to play. In the grand scheme of things, people that are not from or closely associated with Elliott County basketball will look back at EC basketball and say: "they had a great run, but never got it done"

Still, it's just a thought, but I agree fully with the bolded statement, having transfers should not take away from your program at all. Good players want to play with good players, and being from a school like Scott County, Louisville Eastern, Lexington Catholic, Holmes, Clark County etc will always almost certainly get you decent exposure.

I disagree, and I'm a 9th region guy. Justice is more than just a "good" player in a bad region. He is legitimate and the second best player returning in the state behind Ricardo Johnson IMO

I don't think it will happen, as I said I spoke to someone VERY close to this situation and they said Timmy Knipp will be at Elliott County next year, now after that, I don't know.

Hey, I'm not a Elliott Fan, far from it. But a blind man could see Mays was lost out there, he won all of those games due to having a division 1 signee, a D-2 signee, the 16th region's all-time leading scorer and one of the best young players in the state. Compound that with playing in the weak 16th region, playing no one of substance outside of the 16th region apart from this season, and that Mays coached as much from the Sidelines as my 8-year-old brother does.

I think there is zero chace of him leavig this season per some information that was told from a very reliable source close to the situation. If Elliott can not get a better coach than Rick Mays, particularly one that can develop and work with talent, I think it would be in the best interests of TK to transfer.

It was a losing record I am pretty sure. And I don't think it is a winning one now. I may be wrong though.

I know we have heard that Elliott County is used to playing 2, 3 even 4 games a day during the Summer with their AAU Teams, so why should two games in 12 or 13 hours be a big deal for them? The fact is that Holmes had the better team and better coaching. Had Elliott pressed, like Christian County and Lexington Catholic had done and given them problems with their press like both teams before them, Elliott could have won and maybe could have. But coach Mays has proved time and again that the four year run with Elliott county from 2006-2009 was nothing more than the product of having great players. Imagine what Timmy Knipp, Jonathan Ferguson and the Faulkner brothers would be with a coach that can develop talent and work with it. Instead, he played essentially four shooting guards and a point guard. I feel bad for Jon, Evan and Timmy becuase once they get to college they are not going to play shooting guard. In the case of Ferg and Evan, they will probably be asked to play Point, which none really have and Timmy will be asked to play inside, which he really never did. Oh BTW, the discussion is who would win the game between Central and Elliott county. Not who would win if Elliott was fresh and had another crack at Holmes. please stay on topic, as I hate it when threads get closed for straying off topic.

But without Justice, would Valley have won the All-A or even the 15th Region? I know he did not have a great game shooting against Elliott County, but he does so much for this team and kept them in the game until the very end. His defense was very good, and as far as ball handling and distributer, no one was better IMO. Sanford, Riley and Faulkner all had far better teams than Elisha Justice had.

Having the Toyota Plant in your backyard helps. One call and anyone can get a job in exchange for their child attending school would be my best guess.

I agree, but the reason I believe has not developed a more tenacious attitude is that he has always been the fifth wheel and had to play with Ethan and Evan Faulkner, both of which are tremendous floor generals, Jonathan Ferguson who is the leading scorer in 16th region history and his older brother Chris. I think now that the focus will be on him, he will be the go to guy, and will develop the leadership skills that come with that type of responsibility. Having talked to Timmy, he is a very nice, quiet young man and should make the transition to being in the spotlight nicely IMO. I think he could end up being what many thought Dakotah Euton would be, but even better. Tyler Zeller-esque.

I'll agree with you there, but I think Ethan Faulkner and Jon Ferguson would have a field day. Central's lack of a solid back court would limit them and lose the game for them IMO. On the other hand, EC would have no answer for Patterson or Wilson. It would make for an entertaining game.

Amen, I think other offers are soon to come. As someone said in another thread, Johnson has the ability to be a great big time D1 player and should absloutely explode next season. Billy Clyde, offer this kid.

Please elaborate on who West Carter has other than Aaron Rayburn, who Greenup has at all and who Russell has other than Skaggs.

I think Elliott, while Patterson and Ridge Wilson are both great football players, their basketball skills were underrated. But Elliott gets the nod for me. Patterson and Wilson were better than the Knipp brothers IMO, but Elliott's team (pretty much just the starting five) was better overall. As for coaching, Doug Bibby over Rick Mays any day of the year.

I have said this before about TK. I think he has the potential to be a big Division 1 prospect, perhaps not Dwight Howard, but with a little work, he could easily be a high 4, to borderline 5 star recruit by his senior season. For this to happen, he needs to become more aggressive on both sides of the ball. He needs to develop a little bit of an attitude IMO, not one that can get him into trouble, but one that he could be able to assert himself. He also needs to try to avoid getting cheap fouls. He should also work on playing above the rim when a ball is shot. I saw him barely jumping this week when going for a board, and this really hurt him in the Holmes game especially. If he can continue to improve on his outside jumpshot, become more agressive and play above the rim he will be a really outstanding player. Also, if I'm not mistaken, he is only 16 years old, so he is probably going to continue to grow, he's 6'8 right now and could end up being 6'10, 6'11, or maybe even 7'0 by the time he is ready to graduate.

I think that Hatfield and Justice both return for Shelby Valley, Holmes should win the 9th, Clark will be the favorite in the 10th, same for Scott in the 11th. I would not be quick to count out Elliott of winning the 16th. Timmy Kinpp had a great showing in the Tournament this week and I look for him to explode next season being the #1 option for the Lions. But as Cats said, the 16th is as wide open as any region next season.
