What were some of the best individual and team performances from the sweet 16 this year?

Holmes Team D has to be mentioned.

A few that come to mind:

 

Josh Crawford (Corbin)- 33 points, 9 rbs v Eastern

Chris Dowe (Eastern)- 27 points v Corbin

Elijah Pittman (Holmes)- 23 points, 11 rbs v Elliott Co

Elisha Justice (Shelby Valley)- 25 points, 7 rbs v Elliott Co

The overall performance of Louisville Central. Not many thought they would be playing on Saturday night, but they almost came away with the title.

Aside from the fantastic efforts by the Holmes Bulldogs!, a few things that stick out in my mind are

 

Morrison's clutch 3's in the Championship game.

 

Polson's smart leadership and gutsy play for the over achieving West Jessimine Colts.

 

Elijah Justice's all around hustle in Shelby Valley's win over Mason, and their loss to Elliott.

 

Ferguson's unconscious 3 ball shooting and 20 points in the 1st half of Elliott's game.

 

The explosive defensive play of the guy with freaky hair for Christian Co.

 

The great hustle by Hill in Grave's OT loss to Central

 

Vee Sandford's beautiful floaters.

 

Bowling Green giving LexCath all the wanted in their OT loss

 

the list goes on... but those are a few items that come to mind in an overall fantastic 2009 Sweet 16 where finally the Bulldogs go home to put the State trophy in the 9th Region's once bare trophy case since Simon Kenton moved to the 8th Region. :thumb:

He absolutely took over that 4th quarter and overtime. The step back three was nice.

Russ Middleton had 6 three's in their game against Shelby Valley.

The Central High dance team had outstanding performances all weekend too!

Russ Middleton's 7 three pointers and 24 points in a losing effort against Shelby Valley.

The highlight of the tourney for me was Central's band and dance team. Except for EC winning 2 games.

Robinson's play at the point for Central. You could make a case for him as tourney MVP.

Ethan Faulkner was incredible in all three games for Elliott, but Russ Middleton had the most impressive game of the tournament in Mason County's loss to Shelby Valley.

I wouldn't say the most impressive, even though I believe he had all 12 of his teams points in the 1st quarter. His was a top performance, but Pittman's on Elliot, and Ferguson's on Anderson were both nice. Also Dowe from Eastern had a huge game.

Garrett Polson's play the entire tournament. He put West Jessamine on his back and almost carried them all the way to the Sweet 16 Championship game!!
