What was the players name? I hope it wasn't season ending. That would destroy small schools like BL. -
How did the scrimmage go?

Ashland won the 2nd day in the championship with Betsy Layne. The game went to three overtimes. The bobcats really played well. -
I can't wait for them to play the bobcats. It was a great game last year.
-
From what I seen of them last year, I would say they will spread the ball and try to throw the ball. They have receivers coming back, but the lost Bowman. Did he go to college anywhere? I think they will be good, but as good as last year, might be a stretch. The program is definitely in the right direction.

I am pretty sure the bobcats scrimmage them in the first scrimmage. Really curious about this team.
-
They lose a talented running back in Chris Bowman. I also think they lost a couple other talented players. I was wondering if they will be better than last year.
-
Coach Ortmayer was in deed at Betsy Layne yesterday to talk to Casey Adkins. Invited him for some camps and told coach parsons he really liked what he sees.
-
They also have qb Nathan Martin, who threw over a thousand yards. They bring back 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense. One other note, they also have one of the most talented 8th graders in the region. The bobcats have won two grade school championships in a row.

I have been around the area for a little while, an think that this could be the best year of the program. They return 8 starters on offense, and 8 on defense. They lost 8 dedicated seniors, but this year could be one for the ages. Also UK has been to the school and is showing some interest in the bobcat runningback.

Suggestions for the new commissioner of the KHSAA
betsylayne_fanatic replied to Plato's topic in KY Football (High School)
District- Have every district have the same number of teams in it. Its not fair for one district to have 6 teams in it and the other districts to have 4. Feeder Schools-Lock students if they are at a feeder grade school going to high school. Only at the 7th and 8th grade. It is not fair to let them work in the system and then be playing them for the next four years. -
I think it would be good for everyone if a football guy got the job.

The football classes went from four classes to six. My question is what is the rumors around the state about classes and alignment? I know alignment will be up and they will look at the alignment again. I am just wondering if anyone has any information.

Betsy Layne/Harlan/East Ridge Scrimmage
betsylayne_fanatic replied to betsylayne_fanatic's topic in KY Football (High School)
Harlan moved the ball well except for the last stand 4th and goal. They were on the 1 yard line and the bobcats stopped them. They ran I formation most of the night. The also ran a 5-2 defense. The scrimmage was a 10 play thing, but the last hour they done red zone opportunities. Betsy Layne looked great. The bobcats ran spread and bone. Their defense was 3-5-3 and 5-3. East Ridge ran wing-t and 6-2 defense.
