  1. Yes, and you are one of how many teams across the board. I'm just saying overall the benefit is not worth the risk. I think teams can get the same result in controlled team practices. You can face a team that has some weak db's but has a top notch d-line with a tremendous blitz scheme that's not used in 7 on7, how do you measure that as being truly successful in 7 on 7 against another team?
  2. I would steer away from 7 on 7, there's jut too many injuries that occur in these events that really have no meaning. Yesm, it's good to work on timing, but it's not realistic because you have no D-line pressure.
  3. I think Oppenheimer will have a pretty good year and could be in the running for top rb in NKY.
  4. Ohio State camps won't start until June. Is he having a special one one tryout?
  5. Must be happy hour!
  6. 90% of high school football players have occasions where they let their passion cloud their judgement. The key is the fact that they have the passion and the control will come as Pike continues to mature. Zeke has always had a fiery temper no matter what the sport and he has made it this far, so I think he'll be fine. What do you mean by "is Dixie's coaching staff able to adequately coach someone of Pike's supposed talent?"
  7. I beg to differ! If you aren't using JV to develope yourself, then you shouldn't be out there. When a college recruit ask for film, they don't care if it's varsity or jv, they just want to see you in action. These kids should start presenting themselves to colleges during their jv years just as well.
  8. I was looking at a talent comparison by age and maturity across the board with the upcoming soph/junior to be class that he is in. No harm meant.
  9. There was an IE team playing in the 17U group, they had at least 4 guys over 6'6" or 6'7".
  10. That statement could get us started on the turf issue again. Currently Ryle is the only BC team with the turf that allows continious play throughout the week. Boone, Conner, and Cooper having turf would allow more than enough opportunites for these games to be played on a regular schedule. :irked:
  11. Indiana Elite was playing in a tournament in Indianapolis.
  12. IMO the best qb will be the one with the best receivers and oline.
  13. So I guess his offers are out of pure speculation. Cmon guys, we are all pretty much forum critics on here and not college coaches. The college coaches know what they're looking for and whether it's in a pressured game or shorts and a tee shirt the COLLEGE COACHES like what they see in Pike. Perhaps their looking at him as just an athlete that can make their program better. Either way, doubting a decision made by some big time college evaluators/coaches is a joke, but I guess we are entitled to our opinions.
  14. For now, I think it's just the 6th,7th and 8th graders which is the BCPWFL senior division and second year junior division players.
  15. That's where a lot of people that aren't familiar with how college recruiting is done are mislead. From what I heard, Pike attended several different one day evaluation camps and combines where he had the chance to show his skills at a position that he should have been in possibly from the start. That's where the scouts can truly evaluate his mechanics as a qb. High school starts/stats could mean nothing a lot of the times, especially if you can't benefit from your coaches choice of who should start (politics) or his style of play.
  16. That depends on the coaches he decides to have on that committee. You have to get away from the old school good ole boy network and use some business minded coaches as well.
  17. I heard Pike just landed an SEC offer, so there must be more there than just a name. He will be more advanced/mature as Junior, because I think he is actually a 17 year old soph. Pike will surprise a lot of people this year if Dixie allows him to. IMO his athletic ability is similar to Towles, but I believe Pike is more physically built.
  18. Are you talking about Pike?
  19. Miles and about a hundred othe athletes nursed ankles and other injuries throughout the season, so please don't say he was at a disadvantage. ukfan36, I am now under the impression that you speak just to convince yourself and as this is an open forum, we all just have to take it in and get a good laugh.
  20. I think all of the real SK fans are about to rally a blanket party!
  21. But then you have the issue of some kids saying that just because they want to play for a specific team. It's really a BIG mess!
  22. No, I don't think 6th graders should be playing with 7th and 8th graders. The new Ryle league should follow the age class that BCPWFL uses, but for some reason, they're pulling junior division kids in to play with the kids that would be in the senior division. so that part I don't agree with.
  23. Actually in some divisions of BCPWFL one team could have maybe 20 kids or less while another has 30+. By the end of the season, you find teams that can't hold an 11 on 11 practice/scrimmage due to lack of players. Several kids are not playing because they don't have transportation to get them to a team they were drafted to that's clear across town so school based youth teams might be a better idea. The idea of forming more teams is a good one, but the financials for that is another story.
  24. Kinda sounds like you're against this idea. I do agree that they may be rushing into it to try and start the 2010 season, but it is by far the more logical way to build successful high school programs. IMO most 7th graders are not mentally or quite physically ready enough to play freshman ball, and I don't see how that would build their confidence having to constantly go against kids that are mentally/physically more mature. From what I have seen in the BCPWFL there are more different offensive sets than in college. You have a bunch of television ideas and not high school based sets thrown at these kids and it changes every two years as they are drafted to a different system. Then when they get to high school, they have to throw all of that out of the window to follow a strict guideline set by their district school. As a high school coach, I would much rather have kids coming in somewhat knowing my offensive and defensive sets. Also, if a middle school school team is blessed enough to have 3 superior talented skilled players at one position, then they are as I said "blessed". The coachable thing to do is to take the top two and move that third player to a position that would help the team. The feeder system is not about who gets to play the most, but more importantly who's developing to be the best player at a position once they get into high school. Here's one to think on; QB Johnny plays BCPWFL for 6 years 3 different teams. On each of those teams the game plan was dive, option, and sweep. On emergencies they threw a hail mary trick pass. QB Johnny would be perfect for Boone, but he lives in the Conner district. QB Johnny can't complete a pass beyond 15 yards because he never worked on timing routes, drop steps, footwork or any of the tangibles to be a Conner high school QB. So now in his freshman year at Conner, QB Johnny has to look for another position to learn within a year or two just to get on the field for high school ball.
