  1. Mustang was right, Bolden was on fire, my first trip to the Brossart gym, very nice, love the floor, kudos to the student section, they had a nice crowd and was entertaining, glad to see a gym with students in it, #15 can light it up for Brossart, I was behind the Holmes bench, as soon as this young man touched the ball, Coach Listerman was yelling shooter, get on him, leave this young man open he will burn you for three, good luck to the Mustangs, oh great popcorn also, nice win for the Dogs, keep rolling.
  2. Just got confirmation from Holmes, 6 pm first game, I am the pa announcer, so you had me concerned.
  3. The Holmes schedule has it at 6 and 7.30, I have not been told any different.
  4. Holmes scrimmage is off for Saturday the 15 th
  5. Was told that the Lady Bulldogs will be playing at home Saturday, I think around 3 pm, honestly not sure who it is against , but I think it is an Ohio team.
  6. The Holmes scrimmage against Scott County is the 18th, the Lady Dogs are playing on the 15 th, Holmes boys schedule is out and has the 18 th listed, plus I am the pa for Holmes and was told to be their on the 18 th to announce the game.
  7. I was at the game, congrats to Ashland , stadium looks nice, thought they now had turf, understand that is next step, Baker is very very fast and other than the two or three fumbles the young man is very good, best of luck to him, Holmes has a nice junior class with Qb Brumfield and Running back Andrew Arnold who is very good on D, Dogs just don't have the numbers, should improve next year, only 3 seniors that played very much, after watching both teams, I have to go with Highlands, but if Ashland can hang on to the ball they could keep it close for a while, best of luck to both teams
  8. I would say Ashland wins this game, Holmes numbers are very low, they will only dress about 25 players or so unless they bring some freshamn, but the Qb, Brumfield is very good, he is the punter most times, plays db and will be in on most plays, Holmes will play hard but just wont have enough bodies to play an entire game, looking forward to the pop corn and the friendly folks in Ashland, good luck to both teams.
  9. Scott County will be at Holmes on November 18th, this will be a Jv and Varsity scrimmage, I believe JV starts at 5:30
  10. I'm going to give Andrew Arnold of Holmes some props, has just recently been the featured back, plays hard on defense and is a load to bring down on a team that is struggling, of the backs I have seen, the young man from Walton , Compton is impressive.
  11. I wondered the same thing, hopefully it was just something they needed to work on.
  12. Lots of class and respect to Highland tonight, Holmes dressed 28 players who played very hard, Arnold and Sullivan and Brumfield just to mention a few, Highland could have scored more but chose to play the bench in the 2nd half, hang in there Dogs, wishing the Bluebirds the best.
  13. Yes that was the 71 team, had a nice line with Rockenstein, Blackburn and crew, Highlands had the Leftin twins , who I later bacame good friends with and worked with, could had been Holmes best team.
  14. I am going to try and answer RCC9 question about Holmes football, and this is just an opinion from a graduate from the 70's and a person still very involved with Holmes sports, first off it is just simply a basketball school, always has been , always will it seems, Holmes had some nice football teams thru the years, the early 70's with Doug Speaks and company, in the 90's with James Hayes and company, not state champ great , but good, i remember Reynolds Flynn saying the year after they were runner up in the state, 60 kids went out for basketball, more than the football team carries. Holmes numbers as a school are way down, in the 70's Holmes would graduate around 400 students or more, i beleive this year they graduated around 150, give or take a few, it seems when Holmes has a few good years the coaches move on, Coach Trospper, Coach Lickert, to mention a few , i think Ben Nevels is the guy for the job, his is great with the young men, knows the game and i can not think of a classier guy for the young men to look up to, some of the kids just dont want to put the time and hard work in, but the ones that do, deserve to be supported and acknowledged, Holmes numbers are down to the low 30's , not including the freshman, if Coach Nevels is given time and i think he will, things will improve, but they need more kids to go out and support the program, tradition is huge, look at Highland, what a tradition, in basketball Holmes has the tradition and everyone wants to be apart of that,Holmes is very small in size overall and numbers this year, look for things to improve.
  15. Harrison county runs opening kick back for 75 yards, tried for 2 point conversion in the pouring rain, Holmes scored on a five yard run by qb Brumfield, two point conversion fails, Holmes scores on a five yard run by Arnold who carried the load tonight, Harrison Co had way to many penalties late and just couldn't get the ball back, field conditions was bad, good luck to both teams.
  16. Cooper needing to schedule some games, due to a coaching change, we are running behind.
  17. Never to early for a little softball news, could be some interesting match up early on, NC, Newport and Holy Cross could be some nice games.
  18. I agree with Clyde, give me a game at Holy Cross against Holmes, CCH or NC and get there early, yea sure it is hot and cramped for seating, all on one side except for season ticket folks, but it is loud and feels like a high school game, don't get me wrong BOK is plush and nice, It just don't seem like a high school game at times, back a few years ago, when Holmes was playing at HC I remember people lining up at 5 pm to get in, there are 4 big high schools in Boone County and the talent is split so much it is just hard to pick who wins the 33rd district, but must see games are for sure NCC vrs CCH and Holmes playing either of those teams, Holmes has a nice large field house to watch a game at, so buy a pop corn and sit back and enjoy.
  19. Lawnboy, stop up in the press box and say hi, might even treat you to a popcorn
  20. Outstanding job Lawnboy, very nice, I want to add our left fiellder at Cooper Ellen Rushman who player her junior and Senior year.
