6 to 3, nice field goal by Newport Catholic, I think a 30 yarder.

6 to 0 Holmes , early 1st quarter, Hill with a 70 yard td run.

Nice opening game for Holmes in Covington, Curtez Hill had a little over 200 yards in the first half, Emauryon Arnold also added quite a few yards, Hill is lighting quick, Grant had a lot of players but a very young team, Quarter Back Cameron Duncan has a nice arm if given time and probably was there leading rusher. Holmes plays Newport Catholic next week, good luck to Grant County.

Holmes enrollment is down, from the earlier days, I graduated in the early 70 s, our class had around 425, that's just our senior class, this years class was up from last years, I believe there was around 180 seniors, the few years before that, it was around 150. Hopefully the numbers will stay up, don't think they will ever return to the numbers of the 70s or 80s. Hoping the Bulldogs can eventually return to the elite program it was. Tony Perkins, Tony was assistant boys coach for a few years for Coach Booher, then was named girls head coach, he took Holmes to state 3 years in a row I believe, looking at past stats, looks like he complied 115 wins and 31 losses, Coach Perkins is from the Elizabeth town area. Got out of coaching a few years, but remained in the Covington school system, as was recently rehired as boys head coach.

Dixie won, don’t know the score, but did ask an ump who had a different game, he said Dixie won.

Yes, Tony was named today, I was at Holmes just after school and I am on staff at Holmes in a different sport.

Yes, he took the girls to state either 3 or 4 times, had some nice teams.

Holmes will name a coach Tuesday, was planned for Monday, but unfortunately a former principle passed away and it was decided to wait until Tuesday.

Brad stepped down Monday, the girls basketball job is open as well. Thanks to Coach Carr, as far as I know he will stay on as assistant principle. Will miss him roaming the side lines, worked hard for the program.

The gym is still used, mostly for pratice things, we have been practicing softball in there this past spring' baseball does as well, we have a batting game in there, balcony is gone, still a couple of stands in there. During covid peak it was used as an additional lunch room to keep students separated.

I think the officials got covered tonight, very nice crowd at Holmes.

Not sure who all had new pa announcers, I know in the 35 th district, it was all the same as the past few years, I wasn’t in all gyms, but Conner and Boone are the same veteran guys as well.

I have known Mel since high school years, Mel was an outstanding softball coach and supporter, he loved his Mustangs. Rest In Peace .

Very nice gym at Nicholas, Holmes played there in a holiday tournament. I grew up in Nicholas County, still visit Carlisle frequently, I live in Florence and usually go 75 to Williamstown , take 36 to Cynthiana and plenty of food options out on 27 , then take about 30 minute drive via rt 36/ 32 to Carlisle, yes not a lot of options after 6, the shell station has a subway. Just to clarify, during the regular season , Holmes took cash at the door for football and basketball, many places we traveled to on the road did not, so I am guessing this is a decision made by the folks in charge of hosting it, not Holmes.

Final from Ft. Mitchell, very good game until late fourth quarter, Holmes was up 68 to 53 with a minute left, Beechwood made a late run in the last minute of the game, looks like Holmes will play Holy Cross at the Finn in the districts and Beechwood plays Covington Catholic. Nice game today from David Commadore as he had either 20 or 22.

Awesome evening, so many well deserved honors, so many alumni that had not been back to Holmes in years. Thanks to so many for a special evening, to a special educator that has touched so many lives in Covington and the community.
