"Taking a Knee" is a sign of mutual respect for any injured player. As a football parent I am always concerned when a player is injured, and thankful when he is not seriously injured. Congrats to these teams and best wishes in the future for all their seniors.

Since the powers that be suggested that after 9 pages of posts, we start a new thread about GCHS football, this is it. Thanks to everyone in the community for your support in keeping this discussion going. The BOE meets Monday, December 22 at Greenbo, I hope everyone turns out to support the program and show their support for the proposed changes. Let's all model the attitude we want to see. All for one and one for ALL.

I believe that even some of the wiretaps themselves are evidence of the negative relationship that Obama had with Blago. Just because Rezko donated funds doesn't mean, and it surely has not been proven, that he received favors in return. I am from Missouri and know the history behind President Truman and longtime mob man Tom Pendergrast. Truman got the label but spent his career in opposition to the corruption Pendergrast represented. Please that is like saying that everyone who worked for the State of Illinois "associated with thieves, crooks, and terrorists.." A gross exageration. I believe the record shows that Obama and Blagojevich have never seen eye to eye and served in different democratic camps.

The funds for football equipment are not payed out each year. Uniforms, equipment, cleats, etc are reused from year to year. These purchases (at least at Greenup) do not come from the school but from the Booster Club. All the gate goes to the school, and funds the other programs.

The 4% cut is on state reimbursed funds--capital/property improvement is from a different fund entirely. The money can and will be found for this project. Greenup is not poor, although they sometimes like to act that way! The School district has a 20 million dollar plus annual budget. They have nearly 4 million in their contingency fund. In addition to school funding there are additional ways to raise capital funds, a capital campaign, donations, grants, etc. (Perhaps a grant from some environmental group since we will be saving water!) These improvements are long overdue and should be taken seriously by the BOE and GCHS community. It will be a longterm investment in our football program that will eventually pay for itself.

And I am sure the extra money these 24 schools bring in because of the playoffs will help support their basketball programs!:thumb:

Just checked out this site and you are right the savings on the water bill alone would be fantastic! Not to mention the cost of reworking the sprinklers and the other maintenance costs! I hope the BOE will recognize the benefit of this type of field, the fantastic moral builder it would be for our boys and the High School in general. We tell our community-at-large the value we place on our football program each time they visit GCHS and see the poor condition of our field and facilities.

I am also glad to see the excitement and support for Greenup County Football. Let's keep the enthusiasim building and we can really make some positive changes!

Of course he will, just as his grandparents knew 40 plus years ago that he would be running for president and so placed an ad in the local paper announcing his birth just in case someone came looking in the future!:sssh:
