  1. We will have to use a VERY LARGE FONT now to fill up the arm bands!
  2. Thanks for sharing this link. It addressed many of the concerns posted. There does seem to be a bias here against home schooling. (or at least home school kids playing football) If they are eligible, based on the same guidelines as all the other student athletes, I say let them Play!
  3. I also saw athe parents on the Today show this morning. They commented that they liked the coach (up until this happened.) They filed a civil suit and then the criminal suit was filed. The mother was asked if she felt the criminal suit was justified and she said "Yes, to make a point." I feel sorry for everyone in this situation, but now more than ever feel for the coach and his family. He is being used to make a point. What point? That football is dangerous? That heat injuries can be life threatening? I think everyone is aware of that point. That is why the schools follow heat index guidelines. The coach will carry the burden of this for the rest of his life, even if he isn't in prison. How will this affect the decision making of other coaches across the country as we head into practice season this summer?
  4. I have never heard of such a rule. Why would a student athlete be penalized from playing another sport because he quit a team??? Now, of course, I don't believe in quitting. We have always told our boys that if you start something you must finish it. But there are reasons sometimes for a student to withdraw from athletics, grades, family problems, etc. Couldn't find anything on the KHSAA about this type of rule, anyone else?
  5. I didn't imply in any way that it wasn't his job. I am sure there are details to be worked out behind the scenes. I believe everyone is looking forward to an offcial announcement.
  6. I feel the same. Today was great!
  7. It isn't so cut and dried from what I have read of news reports. The coach gave the players 3 ten minute water breaks within a one hour period. The temp was below state guidelines. For more info: http://www.wlky.com/health/17280899/detail.html This is very scary stuff.
  8. One of the biggest assets I think Coach Copley will be bringing to Greenup County is his commitment to Junior Football. I know he was involved in this in Pikeville and realizes the importance of having a good "feeder program." His strength/conditioning experience and defensive coach experience are also perfect fits with what Greenup needs right now. Congratulations Coach Copley! Go Musketeers!
  9. Yes, he was given the job last year after Coach Jackson left Pikeville. Before that he was an assistant for Pikeville, (Defensive Coach).
  10. Published: January 19, 2009 By MARK MAYNARD / Managing Editor Musketeer search Greenup County’s search for a new football coach may be coming to a conclusion. At least two of the candidates — Pikeville’s Mike Copley and Estill County’s Mike Jones — are already head coaches. Copley and Jones are among the finalists for the position, according to sources. The Musketeers have been without a head coach since December when Mike Sammons resigned. There’s no official word yet on when a new coach might be named. link to Daily Independent article: http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_019233755.html?keyword=secondarystory
  11. Regardless of whether or not you agree with Obama's politics, the inauguration of our first African American President is historic. The huge numbers of people expected to turn out for the swearing in ceremony, are not under his control. President Bush has declared a state of emergency for the District of Columbia, so that they can recoup some of their security related costs. This is in addition to the 15 million dollars approved by Congress for security.
