Watch how we are playing man. Sagging like zone. I think all the talk about playing zone is over blown. That is not the answer. In fact, I think UK is doing too much sagging and zone principles. The guys on the outside have got to get more physical, play tighter man and make offensive players drive through them - like Gonzaga is playing man.

Ugo is the only one of our 3 bigs that can hold his own down low. Backside big dropping down in help position, looking for a block is killing us on rebounds. No box outs.

Lack of rebounding and second chance points are the problem for UK so far today.

Is that played at University of the Cumberlands or Corbin?

I am thinking this is the last year for the 5 district games. They will have to shuffle the districts next year and St. Henry coming online will change the N. Ky. districts.

Interesting how on the last map, the patterns over Canada do not move or change. Just sitting there. What is happening in that deep red area in Canada?

In high school I once made a four point play. I made a shot, the ref called a foul after the shot on the play. I had a 1 and 1 for the after the shot foul and made both. My guess is something similar. A player made a 3 pointer then was fouled after the shot. Perhaps technical fouls called? Perhaps an off the ball foul called while a 3 pointer was in the air?

Knowing neighborhoods and families whose children attended Boone Co., there is a percentage of students who fit the $100,000+ income category.

I looked for more details on the point of emphasis on the player equipment and enforcement. I am curious what that means exactly. Will it mean they will more closely enforce knee pad rules? That seemed to be happening more last year. I saw games where players were sent off the field because their pants were too short and/or they did not have knee pads. You watch college games and there are loads of players running around wearing football pants that look like compression shorts. That is carrying down to the high school level. Is that part of the equipment enforcement?

What is the demographic of the other 20%? I was thinking free lunch percent was more like 60%, so the numbers are higher than I was thinking. But if 20% of the student population is $100,000+ income, how does that reflect on the low income school viewpoint?

Is Boone County a low income school? I don't think so. There may be a large free lunch population, but my guess is that the remaining students are not anywhere close to low income.

Probably TV request. Doesn't UK usually have a good non conference opponent scheduled each year in the middle of conference play?

I had not seen Vandy. I was surprised by how bad they were. ______________________________ As bad as Vandy was last night, it was still a really good game for UK mentally. Confidence boost and positive growth for several players.

I see Kyle Filipowski in Z. Hopefully Z follows what Filipowski did and comes back. I think Z is a lottery pick in training.

It will be a brawl. That's the way Stackhouse coaches. And that has been shown to be UK's weakness. UK should be prepping for this game in a boxing ring.

But he is really trying. Effort is not an issue with him. And he is playing more physical, but he is a kid playing against men.

This may be the dumbest defensive team I have ever seen. Opponents run the same sets over and over. The players don't recognize what is happening and make the same mistakes over and over. The players own that. None of us need any coach telling us to stop the open man under the basket. Yet every game UK players let an open man go right past them in the paint and get open layups - uncontested. Last night TN ran a high screen 30 feet from the basket many, many times and our guards kept getting hung on the pick, and our big men never stepped in front of Ziegler on straight line drives to the basket. Hand checking is clearly allowed now. Teams grab and hold UK players game after game. UK defenders won't touch a player and won't put their body in front of a straight line drive. This team is soft. They are getting out physicaled every game. That is the game plan against UK. My message to UK before the next game is who is going to be the first player to get a flagrant? Grab, hold, push - this is a fight. That team is stealing your destiny. They are going to beat you up and steal your dream. Are you going to fight back or let them bully you? Play of the night for me was Bradshaw mixing it up. UK needs more of that. And did you see what the refs did after that? Started calling more fouls on grabs and holds and swats at the ball. UK needs to get tough and fight back. And UK needs to play man defense to do all that. Last, this team will get back on track when the big men get it going. They are the ones who can set a physical tone. They need to control the paint on both ends. I want some plays on offense pounding the ball inside. Everything will work so much better on offense and defense when/if we can get that from the big men.

I agree. This is a great opportunity for Coach Atchley and Christian County. Seize the opportunity!
