Ah, I agree with a lot of what you have to say, especially with the guards and the turnovers. But Heimbrock, while playing okay, didn't bring anything to the table. He is okay for a couple minutes, but beyond that he doesn't do much productive. Thelen has done well, but he isn't doing better than the other two big guys. Maybe you haven't been to the games, but the big guys are bodying up down low, drawing fouls, and when they DO get the ball, which I know you know this is rare, they are making something happen. Rebounding can always be improved, but without them rebounding is scarce is existent at all. Thelen tonight couldn't hold on to the ball to save his life. He needs to get tougher. JV is the perfect place to work on his game, but he is not ready for the tempo of varsity yet. The main problem truly is the guards. Even Maile is turning into a turnover liability. It's just a mess out there.

lol, by now I hope we're getting the hint. Outside of a good three point shooting game by Sorrell vs Ryle on Friday, we have had a horrendous 3 pt game. Our most success has come when we have big guys on the floor. Having Wellbrock and Isler on the floor opens so much up because they both post up hard and get open. It opens up the outside and clears out the inside for someone to drive if need be. Counts starting just offers nothing positive to the lineup. He is better as a player off the bench to give you a few minutes of power. Don't let him handle the ball though...

I would hope he is not already throwing in this towel on this season and "looking towards next season" because he still has his seniors this year to look to. And I don't think they'd appreciate all their hardwork the past years being ignored.

I gotta tell ya, Ryle looked more impressive to me than HHS. But yes they did look solid for this early on in the year. Watson did look very good. Guards are a definite weakness. Turnovers, turnovers and then some. And then some shots that miss completely. They usually completely ignore the big guys down low. Wellbrock and Isler both work hard down low and usually are pretty good about bodying up and producing when they actually do touch it, but no matter how much you tell the guards they don't care lol. Counts and Sorrell today were kinda a lost mess, not sure what that was all about. They are both hit or miss. Sorrell is good for a boat load of three's one day or absolutely nada the next. And Maile has had a couple of off games, but hopefully he gets back into it the next few days. We need some leadership out of him, Isler, and Ives out there

Ah yes. While he is playing well at the JV level, he isn't ready for varsity yet. Same can be said for Heimbrock, [i'd say even Wilson even though he isn't playing JV], and the other JV kids who came in with him. Bad decision by L to bring them in when we're only down by 5 to 6. It was like he threw in the towel.

lol and I don't even know who number 40 is. Eek. There are just a whole lot of ?'s with CCH right now. But that was by far the worst lineup call by L this season so far lol. We were still in it.

No I think it was later in the third. There was about 2:24 left in the quarter. I remember looking at the clock, like "omg Coach what are you doing!".. Another thing I'd like to add. Jake Thelen will be a good threat inside in the next two years for CCH, IF he hits the weight room, NOW. He is WAY TOO SOFT. Anytime he touched the ball all Highlands had to do was body him up or even touch the ball and it was gone. Don't waste that height and frame and talent God gave ya!

No it was at some point when they were only down about 5 or 6, Isler, Maschinot, Heimbrock, Wilson, and one other JV player were in and it just blew the game wide open. It was possibly the worst lineup I'd seen Listerman put in this season, and I think his starting lineup stinks. So..I don't know. There are just a lot of kinks to work out this season. BTW to whoever said that it is possible Mitch might be back by Friday, that would be great and I had heard the same thing, but at the same time anyone who has seen him knows he still looks weak so for his health and for the safety of him I hope he makes sure he is REALLY ready.

Honest opinion, and I know I may catch some crap for this, is I'm really not sure what lineup Listerman put in. Aside from Isler and I believe maybe Maile or one other true varsity player, he had all JV players in. We were only down by 5 or 6 at this point. It was still a good ball game. Then all of a sudden we're down by 13 and it's over. He did not help coach his team to a win tonight. He needs to stop subbing in his entire JV team during the game, because honestly, they need more time at the JV level yet. Vs Ryle Listerman used his best 8 players and it was a good game, they hung in it and it worked. Why revert back to subbing in to your last man? It just didn't make much sense.

Euton was completely unimpressive. He looked like a football player trying to play basketball. =/. Way overhyped. And I hate to say it, but the way people talked SC up I was expecting a much better performance. This game wasn't near as close as the score indicates. Holmes was clearly the better team. That being said, Holmes has plenty to work on. They get panicky when they get pressed and while they may not face a press as good as SC's again until Rupp, they def. need to figure out how to break it. They also had some very sloppy turnover's tonight. Richardo Johnson didn't have his stuff tonight, which was disappointing. He didn't take care of the ball and made some bad basketball decisions. Mentally just wasn't there. Riley is the best guard in the 9th, hands down. He has to be one of the best in the state. That shot is beautiful. IMO though, Pittman was the MVP of the game. His rebounding inside was amazing. He was a beast. There was NO ONE that could hang with him. I know Billy G was in the house, and if I were him I'd be looking at Euton and then looking at Pittman and thinking..can I have him instead? Manning for SC is going to be a GREAT player. He really impressed me, along with Guyn. 29 points, he basically carried the team.

I would hope that did not happen, and I wasn't there so I don't know if it did or did not, but if it did that is verrrryy low. But again wasn't there, so maybe he just heard wrong.

You tell 'em! Congratulations to Trinity on their 19th Championship. SK, don't hang your heads. Everyone in NKY is proud of you, and there are MANY who wanted to be in the place you were tonight regardless of the outcome!

Haha, well..I get the best of both worlds [you know where I'm coming from] so it will def. be fun for me! But yes Ryle needs to find some pitching depth beyond Etsch. =/

It will be interesting to see how Travis develops, because from what I could tell I think he might be an overall better athlete than his brother. [which is a compliment to both because we both know how great Cody is]. So we'll see. Baseball season should be fun. Excited to see this Clarkson player lol.

Freidel? If that is who you are referring to I apologize as I had no idea he was only an eighth grader. My brother played with him on the team. If he is a freshman this year than I would say Elliot AND Freidel will both be top freshman. If it ISNT him, well...tell me who it is lol!

Elliot was an eighth grader playing on the freshman team last year. This year he is a true freshman who more than likely will be on the JV team. I believe he will be one of the best freshman in NKY.

Honestly, CCH still has ALOT..ALOT of improvement, but this was a good game to watch and a it offered a glimmer of hope for CCH because Ryle is a solid ball team. IMO they were a better team than Conner who beat us up on Tuesday. Mcleish is a really good basketball player. He has a great shot on him. I had not seen him play until today and was as impressed as I expected to be. Ahern offered a solid PG for Ryle as well. I was happy to see that CCH had LESS turnovers today. Still had too many, but def. had less. Sorrell had a great shooting night! When he is on, he is on. On the flip side, Maile who typically adds a big amount of points to the board just didn't have it tonight. He forced too much, took bad shots and mentally wasn't there. Hopefully by Sunday we have the other Luke back . CCH used for the most part only about eight guys the entire game which I thought was a much better method than subbing in the entire bench as they did on Tuesday against Conner. Obviously this outcome was much more favorable. All in all, things looked a little bit better...lol.

This is absolutely awful. My prayers go out to the man, his son, and the rest of his family. The use of the cannon needs to seriously be reconsidered after this. I understand the symbolism it stands for, and I respect it and I have been in house during games where it was used and it def. has an impact on the atmosphere, but it is NOT worth an injury such as this.

Yes, but their first game against lexcath Counts did not start. Shover was at that game.

no I don't believe Counts has started all year. He just recently started. And I don't know how much longer that will last...

I think you meant Shover. But lately Counts has been starting, not Sorrell. It's been a weird lineup.

I completely agree with you. And I see little adjustments being made, so hopefully something is done. Only three games is...Ryle is going to be tough!
