And for the record, I do NOT think this is the lineup Listerman will go with. It's not his style. Thelen will still come off the bench. Which is great. But it was the best lineup they had on the floor last night, and I think Listerman is starting to realize he needs the big guys in there together. If you watched the games progress from the first game to this past one, you would see what I mean. He has gradually increased the amount of time he puts the big guys in together, whereas at the beginning he would only put one in at a time.

They were not as slow as what you would think, which is why I put that I think Listerman put them in to try it out to see if they could run the floor. Ives and Maile are not slow. Ives handled the ball well. Maile just needs to learn that passing on offense is the key, not dribbling so much and he is not the only player who needs to figure that out, he was just the one on the court last night. Wellbrock and Thelen ran the floor fine, and Isler who would be the slowest of the five did as well. And this was not a slow team by any means. Owensboro did not have their best player, that probably impacted the outcome, but they were not slow, they were fast.

Wow I was not up here in 04 to see that team play, but I know who 4 of the 5 are, and that must have been one heck of a team to watch.

CCH beat them bad twice. Jeramie Connor's pitching motion severely crippled the big bats of CCH last year, but I'm not seeing it happen twice. :thumb:

I would agree. I think listerman put them in tonight to see how they worked together and to see if they could run the floor well, with 3 of them being big guys [6'4 and over] and it worked.

Not to put a damper on the win, but I was told that Owensboro was without their best player tonight. I don't know how much of a difference he would have made, as CCH played pretty well, but I don't think we saw a full strength team. Then again they didn't see two of our guards soo.. It was GREAT to see Isler, Thelen, Wellbrock, Maile, and Ives in there. BIG lineup, and it shutdown the Owensboro offense. Ives had a great game, shot amazing. He also did not have too many turnovers, which is what we need out of a guard. Maile also put up the points, however he SERIOUSLY needs to recognize his strengths. He is NOT a ball handler. It is a mess to watch..off his knees, feet, hands...pass the ball. When he drives in he is a force. Thelen and Isler compliment each other well down low, and with Wellbrock in there as well it made for a very good big lineup. Listerman also only used 7 kids tonight. The only ones off the bench were Thelen and Heimbrock. I was somewhat surprised by this, but if you look back, they always play better and have won usuing only 7 to 8 players. Need to stick with it. My last thought is I was SUPER disappointed with the refs in both games I saw tonight, and I heard the past two days were not much better. The refs seemed to have little to no basic knowledge of basketball. The foul calling was terrible. 9th region is lucky to have the refs they have.

I don't know about the end comment. Might be a stretch, but they would def. be competitive and win most of their games.

And the game was really not close. I was in attendance. And I was never underestimating Scott Co.

I agree that Scott Co is overrated. Well they WERE. Now everyone has seen them for what they are. A good ball team, but not top 2 or 3 in the state. Holmes is number one, and beyond that I'm not sure what order to rank the teams you mentioned. They are all right there together.

Holmes IS as dominant as everyone thinks. They are a high school basketball team, they're going to have games where they don't play as well as usual, but it's safe to say they are the best team in the state by far.

I agree with you. It is quite an accomplishment to beat a defending state champ. However, basketball is a WEAK sport in SC. [i'm from there, believe me I know]. Elliot is a top 5 team in KY no doubt, and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. Until they play Holmes or Scott Co [and they may have played Scott Co, im not sure]..it would be VERY hard for me to say they are the best in the state.

Not really. lol I think youre just hoping that is what this means. Holmes is still the clear cut #1. Every team has off nights, and Conner just played a heckuva game.

Oh I agree with you. I was not that impressed. He will be solid in a couple of years, but def. isnt ready yet. And if I recall, I think it was him not sure, but he has an uggggly three. His shot needs some major development.

Pittman is the best player on the Holmes team. I know R. Johnson was ranked higher, but Pittman has had a coming out. As for the classless comment. You can not think it is classless everytime Henley pulls his starters and the other team doesnnt They had 11 points. I'd leave them in too. It isn't classless. Classless would have been if Henley left the starters in.
