  1. Not 100% comfirmed but I hear that this year there will be no tobacco products allowed in the stadium. I think the big change this year adds smokeless tobacco such as "snuff". Anyone else hear this?
  2. Sultans of Swing :best Through the Fire and the Flames: wildest
  3. Why don't alot of UL players leave for the NFL draft before their senior year? They can't afford the pay cut.
  4. Love throwing a "splash it" or a fluke. I also love the Whitey on the river. I have 3 that I bought a few years ago. Last I remembered you had to ask for them and that he had them behind the counter at the tackle box.
  5. I am a Russel fan here and even though it's hard to swallow at times, I would rather Russell lose to Raceland and Fairview and get better than to blow out a 4A or 5A school. Yea it's rough at the water cooler the next morning at work but I believe Raceland or Fairview can help Russell or teams similar in their quest for a trip to the pizza box. The only time I think it may not help is if one team runs a totally different offense than one you might see down the road. I think we shouldn't underestimate all the talent in the area and we should all benefit from it. Most all of us are in different classes so wouldnt it be awesome if we all were driving down to Louisville at the end of the year.
  6. I say let them play. I bet 10 yrs from now there will be a thread about some young stud from lexington coming to Rose Hill to play football because his dad got transfered to AK Steel or Marathon. Well...maybe not, but it sounded good.
  7. Haven't seen alot posted on this thread for awhile so I thought I would spark it back to life. May be off the subject a tad but still routes back to Greenup Football. How is the theater program coming along with your youngest players. Thus meaning McKell, Greysbranch, Wurtland ect.... I think having a good program for the youth really helps a high school program. I know at Russell we started flag the last 10 yrs or so because we were losing so many kids to soccer. But without soccer where would we get a kicker...LOL I know McKell always used to do well. Going "Old School" one coach I learned the most from was a Coach Nobel from down from Mckell. Taught me how to read backs at an early age. My wife is from Greenup and she said that Greenup losses alot of their kids to the farms they have to help work when school is over. Greenup has loads of talent...it just might be hard to reach some of them because of their lack of time.
  8. I see Bob almost every day and he has failed to tell me that story. I cant wait to get to work and see his reaction when I ask him about it.
  9. Well if my memory serves me wasn't it Emperor Constatine who decided what books were to go into the Bible? I believe womens roles could have been more included in the church at one time but no one will really know what might have been in the other biblical books. Unsure about the facts here but it does give one something to think about.
  10. Its kinda like the phrase "In all due respect...." I think it was Ricky Bobby who used it in Talladega nights to tell his owner what he thought. When the owner said "You cant say that!" Ricky said "Yes I can...I said with all do respect....that means I can say whatever I want to say" Its was something like that....point is it's just a way of being respectful of other peoples opinions I believe.
  11. Might not be the right answer, but when I played he did say that an awful lot.:fire:
  12. To me basketball and baseball are just hobbies you do while waiting for FOOTBALL.
  13. I know alot of kids have transfered to Raceland from area schools notiably the frosh. class so hopefully that will keep the program strong.
  14. I think what we need is man like James Stewart was in "Mr Smith goes to Washington". I can just see our founding fathers looking down from above (or up from below...lol) and wonder what went wrong. It is months like now that we all get our cotton candy and funnel cakes and stop to watch the media circus that we all know we love. We might hate it but most all of us get sucked in by it.
  15. I have never seen one myself ,but here in the past 3 years there have been more and more sightings of bears crossing Tygart creek in Greenup County on Rt 7.
  16. I am a Red Devil fan to its fullest extent, but I must agree with Coupon21. Too many kids are going to nearby schools because they are not satisfied with their own athletics at the school closest to them. Its hard to keep a good team when your players are switching to teams like Raceland and Russell and Ashland. A few I know have left for playing time and a few I know left because of politics in the athletic system. Sammons does a great job and when he started calling the plays from above the win/loss ratio only improved. We are all in different classes (A,AA.AAA..etc) so we shouldn't dog each other so much and start pulling for each other.
  17. Wish they had that lineman camp when I was in school. I was a 5'9" 178lb offensive guard. LOL I could have made a good blocking dummy possibly.
  18. Let the players gel and get used to working with one another and it should fall into place.
  19. I hated all the "Air Bud" movies but they were more geared for kids so I will let them slide. Loved the original "Bad news bears" (maybe Tatum Oneal pitched good from all the crack) but all the others were bad.
  20. Love the cincy zoo best but it is hilly as well.
  21. My wife is a 3rd grade teacher and I hear her talking a lot about merit pay. She will often say that merit pay is fine when you do a job that is only based on your own performance. She says in education she can teach and teach but if the child does not want to perform academically then he/she will not perform. A teacher's job does not only depend on his/her performance but other factors as well. How good is the administration in the district, do the parents support education, and do the students want to perform. I have heard my wife come home many of an evening and wonder how she will reach this child because she has tried everything but the child is still performing under level. In addition, I know that my wife has spent a lot of money out of her own pocket for her masters, which they are required to get but the government does not bother to reinburse any of the money. Most corperations who want you to get a masters will offer to pay for at least half of it. In addition, she seems like she is always going to school. I know that she works for hours on her masters and now on her Rank in addition to all of the PD that she attends. I just know as a husband of a teacher she sure does seem to be putting in a lot of hours into her job even on her "summer break".
  22. Belfry reminds me alot of Russell. No matter who graduates...there is always a young hungry stud to take their place. Red Devil fan here, but my hat goes off to Belfry and the awesome program they have. No matter who wins we all make the state of Kentucky proud.
  23. Even though I think GC's district isnt up to par like in the past, with wins over Wheelersburg and Boyd twice I think Greenup will win in 2 games but the scores will be closer than some think. Either way a win is a win. Good Luck GC.
  24. Russell has never had a problem with scoring. Three yards and a cloud of dust is all Ivan ever wanted and the wing T is perfect for that kind of thinking. I believe the offense will not skip a beat. Its the defense and the secondary that might give the devils some trouble at least for the first game or two. Tyler will be missed as a defensive leader. Wonder who will step up and take that task?
