  1. Congrats to Randy Vanderhoof. Job well done and to all the players, thanks for giving us the fans an exciting season.
  2. You can be the best QB in the world, but what good is it if you don't have a line to allow you enough time to pass or recievers to catch it.
  3. Since KCU is fairly small and new I think it would be great for a High School coach who wanted to further his career.
  4. Trying to be discreet in hitching her way to her Plastic surgeon.
  5. I agree here. It's a no brainer and all you have to do is the math. A huge school isn't gonna be able to play every kid but I am sure everyone has worked just as hard.:thumb:
  6. What about the bright lights that come from the deer cams strapped to the trees? I mean the cheap kind that I have. (will be getting the infra red ones for Christmas I hope ) Maybe since the flash isn't prolonged it doesn't bother them. We have all had the "nose up to the camera pic" so I would think it just gets them curious.
  7. I thought Greenup would have dominated this game but I guess no one told the Polar Bears.
  8. I think she was in the early 90's. Between her and Tammy Jo the dance team is 13 time National Champs. They just love what they do. My neice said if dancing was any easier they would call it football.
  9. It hurts me to say this but I say Fairview by 10. I hope I am wrong.
  10. Greenup by 17. I see alot of Greenup underclassmen getting plenty of playing time.
  11. You are right RAM. My family lives, eats and sleeps Russell but would love for all the area teams to do well and make it to state. This lil piece of the state rarely gets any respect. Would be nice to have Russell, Raceland and Greenup going to state in their own classes at the same time. :fire:
  12. I find that hard sometimes. What if my son is playing center....and a friends kid is playing noseman. For my child to succeed...the other must fail. I hate those situations because I hate to see any kid fail and get hammered by their coach. Quite often its my own.
  13. You see alot of Greenup, Russell and Raceland fans on here. Shows they love their team and the love has been spreading to each others team as well.
  14. I went to Russell while my wife went to Greenup. I live in Greenup but my son goes to Russell and wife teaches at Russell. We started him there in kindergarden. It wasn't for sports. If my son doesn't ever start or if Russell goes 0-10 he will still remain there. If anything it was for academics and the thought that we would be moving down that way. Wifes mother got sick and we wife wants to stay as close by to her house as she can is the reason we haven't moved yet. I always root for Greenup when Russell isn't playing them. My wife has kin that play football and basketball in the Greenup system and my neice is on the Greenup dance team. I want Greenup to prosper in everything they do and I am sure they will get a good football coach.
  15. Wait till you see his son in a few years. whew:thumb:
  16. Yes I remember those games...barely. I played on the cowboys and in my last year my head grew and my dad didn't want to buy a helmet for one year so Ivan let me wear a high school helmet. I felt like a dufuss with all my buddies wearing dallas attire and me in my maroon helmet. We might have faired a lil better if we could have gotton a kid off the Redskins nicknamed "CAPTAIN CRUNCH":fight: He was the hardest hitter growing up in our league since Darryl Conley. Not gonna call him out but he knows who he is.
  17. JV started off a bit slow as did the Fresman game that night against Russell, but once they settled down they did pretty good. With first game jitters I thought they shot well.
  18. No Russell has always had one middle school as far back as I can remember. The middle school consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. All the kids from middle school were put on 4 or more separate teams in the JFL system and played among themselves. At the time there were so many kids playing. You didn't have soccer and other activities that kids are involved in today. At the end of the year I can even remember the winner of the league actually would play McKell on Russells own high school field just as a bonus game. Some of the old timers from McKell might remember kicking our butts every year also. But that was way back in the 80's. Numbers got low and they made grade teams. Finding schools who played just certain grades was hard at first but finally came around. Having grade teams is nice don't get me wrong, but there will still be animosity among parents in my opinion. Wasn't aware of Wurtland losing their team next year. Maybe it will be like the movie "Remember the Titans" in which they merged 2 good teams and made 1 great team.
  19. I am not against it totally especially if the numbers are declining. I just don't think it is a solution is all. If they do combine they will have a great team. I know kids on the team and I will be tickled to death and hope they win everygame (except against Russell haha). But everything comes with a price. Russell combined and alot of people have mixed feelings about it after the fact. There are pros and cons to it all and no side is actually wrong or right. Its just all about opinions.
  20. Lets all get along.....Gimme the crow. I will eat it. I am used to it by now. I am usually always wrong when I post on this site.
  21. I don't have a dog in this fight as well. Other than my niece and nephew attending Greenup and both being involved in some type of sport I have no ties to Greenup. Just alot of friends and realitives who have kids in the system. Wife has cousins who play for McKell so I only wish the best for the school and football team. Might have to do some irrigation of the practice field if all that comes about. Doesn't it hold alot of water and stay swampy?
  22. I think the JFL also practices in the front lawn also.
  23. I have to agree with SIDELINEDOC and LifeisFB on this one. Russell began doing this a few years ago because of low numbers. We had to do it because the lack of kids playing. Well our numbers are getting a lil stronger and they still have it to where you have a 6th grade team...a seventh grade team and an 8th. Yea Russell kids have a fairly strong team...winning their share amount of games but at what expense. You think it would bring parents closer and some it does, but oh to be that fly on the wall. There are more parents upset with it more than for it. Our 6th,7th,and 8th used to make up 4 or more JLF teams. We never came together till our Fresman year and the high school never suffered because of it.
  24. I always liked "The Last Dragon" and one of Tom Cruise's first movies "Legend".
