Ferguson is a great high school basketball player, I just can't see him playing D1. I wasn't sure, but after seeing him play last night against West and not being able to take Oney off the dribble has made my opinion easy now.

Both teams shot about the same from "trey land". West started out hot, but later cooled off, as Elliott shot consistently below average all night.

Great game, close the whole way. I think West Carter just got a little fatigued down the stretch. Great officiated game and Elliott finished well with free throws.

I heard from a very reliable source that Eastern Tennessee State University was interested in Ferguson.

The better "team" won last night.

Judging by the overall record and knowing that the games are "usually" close, I will take East in this one. Due to West's inability to finish out games in the past, as stated by CatsCatsCats. East-61 West-54

A battle as usual? Haha, this is kind of funny. I think like three years ago the Ashland Daily gave an update on the current record between East and West Boys Basketball and it was something like 115-40, in East's favor. I'm not saying that this game won't be close, but it's not going to be "as usual". :dancingpa By the way, does anyone have the correct tally?

I haven't got a chance to watch many games this year in the 16th Region. I know it's early, but help me out so I can get a feel for how the teams are shaping out this year. :dancingpa

Ashland- Matt Thomas

Coach Rex Cooksey won this game for his Eagles. Fairview played a 1-3-1 zone for the last 3 quarters of the game and East couldn't adjust. To break down a zone, passing is key and it seems to me that the Raiders have not quite matured yet into that realization. I don't think Baker got out coached, but it might've helped to switch up his defenses from "man to man" to a zone a time or two.

Maybe so, but that has nothing to do with coaching or teaching the game.

:laugh: Well I personally don't know any sophomores that are UK caliber players either, but I definitely know who is not. And the crazy thing is with that big of a body, why would you want to shoot threes? The last big man at UK to shoot threes was Bernard Cote, we all seen what good that style of play did throughout his career. From what I seen, Euton is slow and worries to much about shooting threes than being in the post, where he should've dominated the 16th Region Tournament. By the way who is Deron Feldhouse? I know a Deron Feldhaus that played basketball at UK.

After 3 1/2 pages of posts, it's hard to just talk about the situation at hand. Personally, I know Dakota and his father Clay and I wish them the best of luck. Now IMO I don't think Dakotah is a UK caliber player, but he can make any high school team in Kentucky alot better. His transfer will effect the region he moves into, but the Sweet 16 will not feel the ripples of the splash he makes.

Elliott out played East Carter tonight, the best team won. Congratulations to Elliott Co. Good Luck against Mason Co. at State. BTW-- The short, bald headed referee is the worst ref I have ever seen referee a High School Varsity basketball game. He needs to do some kids in the 9th Region justice by hanging it up. Although terrible, he is consistently terrible on both ends of the court and had no effect on the outcome of tonights event.

I agree about having to win 4 games instead of just 3 in the region, but when you're playing a team from the 16th Region in the State Tournament, it's like getting a bye. 11th Region hands down.
