I think most anyone would agree that they would rather win a regional championship than All "A" state runner-up, but nonetheless it's still not "disappointing". But again, Holy Cross was six outs away from going to region last year. I don't think Holy Cross uses the fact that they play in a tough district as an excuse. (Quite honestly if HC was in a disctrict like Dixie's for example then I think a regional bid every year is not out of the question, basketball or baseball). On the topic of scheduling Holy Cross is no stranger to welcoming challenges. Holy Cross had scheduled Ryle every year up until last year but made up for it by scheduling Bishop Ready (no. 2 in their class in Ohio). Believe me, Kozerski is more eager than many to schedule the best. Give the football program time and I can gaurantee great things.

History, please try to be open minded about this. Baseball- State runner-up in the All "A" last year alone is enough to say that the baseball program is not on the decline. Yes, they have not been to the region since '04, but please share with us the secret to not having down years. Apparently you and your team have never had one. Basketball- Probably the only sport for which you can make a legitimate argument for decline and I won't argue that. Football- How can you even say they "used to be relevant"? The program is barely a decade old. The program has improved each year since its inaugural season. Again, I feel like you're trying to lump all three sports together. Do you have any reason for holding such a grudge against the Indians?

VOR you are correct in the past couple years taht is true, but maybe he was talking about earlier years and then I find tat statement very accurate. My argument was that HC hasn't been the bottom of the barrel for the past decade in every sport....

Been behind BW in basketball in the past decade? HA. I think your trying to lump CCH and BW together. It's always been On what grounds can you lump all three sports into a discussion about baseball?? :confused::confused:

Well if you had the oppurtunity to watch HC last year you would know they were very much on thier way to the region last year. Six outs away and couldn't seal the deal against a very well coached Bwood team.

I mean I wouldn't call All "A" state runner-up dissapointing. Plus they have been in the hunt every year in one of the toughest districts in the state.

The Indians didn't seem to be "all there" either. They hit the ball well but had a few mental lapses in the field. I believe 3 of the 5 runs the Indians gave up were unearned. To be honest I think the Indians lost this game more than the Colonels won it. But then again you can't expect to win games when you play the way they did today.

Point is they staffed it out, they were trying to get guys innings. But, good game played on CCH's part. Andy will get his work in, and will be ready for all "A" and districts. I feel like CCH has a smaller team this year than past, but they still can hit. Also, on a sidenote, I feel like the 35th is as wide open as it has ever been in past years.

Jim Ryan and Bray were exceptions. I think what mister cee is trying to say is that this is the first time in the programs history that tryouts were open to eighth graders. Correct me if I'm mistaken but I don't believe there were tryouts for eighth graders in Ryan's or Bray's years, the two were "asked" to play for the team.

I have heard the All A but maybe sooner.

The Indians threw the top half of their rotation, not including Roenker, Thursday against Boone. But I agree they looked good hitting the ball. Smallwood looked very good for Dixie. They have such a deep staff this year.

I am pretty sure both will start out on varsity... I know Callary may be the starting catcher... He looked very good Saturday and so did Tiberi, he can pitch and I can see him in the rotation. I would say both are ready for varsity.

That HC pitching staff will be tough this year. I look for them to carry the team far for a change this year.

Matt Klein from Cov Cath really has a chance to have another breakout year. The kid was more than impressive as a sophomore, it just depends on how strong of a recovery he can make. Nothing would make me happier this year than seeing Matt continue his success after everything he has been through.

Tiberi and Callary from Holy Cross will see some innings at the Varsity level. Both young men are play at an extremely advanced level. Watch out for this duo in the next four years.

Last year the 35th District had one of, if not the most talented team in the state (Cov Cath), the region champs (Beechwood), and the All A State Runner-Ups (Holy Cross). No one in the 35th has a "fairly easy path" to region.

You're right to a certain degree. Beechwood won with a relatively young team but relied heavily on the arm of Smith (who was a senior). Also losing Snyder behind the plate, Hyde in center, and Larrimore at short will be extremely detrimental to the offensive aspect. Beechwood will need to step it up in a big way in order to contend again this year.

Cov Cath wins this one, but I look for HC to put up a fight. If they contain Welbrock and Thelen things could get interesting.
