I watched the CovCath frosh scrimmage against each other at CovCath today! :dancingpa

 

Hey it was a baseball game and I needed a fix, as it has been a while since I watched a game! :thumb: Yea, my wife thought the same thing!

 

Weather was only worse in the LexCath vs. CovCath game of a few years ago, but some of the CovCath kids did impress me, or as much as I could see of them, all bundled up!

 

Spoke to a couple of them individually and encouraged them all on!

 

Couldn't believe all the lefties on the turf (game was on the football field) even had to ask Coach Eck was he sure these were CovCath kids! :confused::idunno:

 

I mean I don't think I have ever seen as many lefties on a CovCath team at one time in my life!

Some/most of them have never played a HS game so far, so how am I or anyone to make that assumption of kids. Sure maybe some have played summer ball and such but I will wait until I see a round of Freddie's play a game or two before I will answer your question!

Oh I am sure of it but one thing very true about Freshmen is that some mature a year or two earlier than others (or are a year or two older in some cases) but they all seem to catch up with each other sometime late in their sophomore year or early Junior year!

 

Have seen kids who as 8th graders look great outstanding but two years later, they now are only the size of their counterparts and all of a sudden, the size difference that they had as 8th graders is gone and puff, they really weren't the player that you thought they were!

 

Like I said, I will wait after I watch a round or so of games before I say who I think just might be the next Maile, Farris, or Foster!

 

Oh, for some of you youngsters! Leo Foster of Holmes HS, was the single best baseball player, that I have seen play in the ninth region.

Pete Collopy at NCC can mash. Quentin Murray at Highlands has been a solid pitcher.

Ryle is loaded in the freshman class. They had five 8th graders last year starting for the freshman squad that went to the frosh championship.

Tiberi and Callary from Holy Cross will see some innings at the Varsity level. Both young men are play at an extremely advanced level. Watch out for this duo in the next four years.

Cooper have a few freshmen that will have alot of playing time at the Varsity level. Carrella , Blank, Collins, and Morris played very well last year and also had a good summer season.
