I didn't see any of those Louisville schools you mentioned playing on Saturday at Rupp Artena so I question your response, but I do think they could defeat the best teams in the Cincinnati area.

Clinton County has everyone returning, a new coach and a new offensive game plan. They won agaist Logan County, Edmonson County, and a Tennessee team in preseason. They lost pretty badly to Glasgow. Clinton could win this game, especially if Central is not ready to play.

Both are terriffic coaches, why attempt to choose? I would say that Woods is definitely the dean of 12th region coaches. Some of Jackson's success came while at UHA.

Luck is very important, there's always that one game. One other point, a coach that produces quality young men would also have to be considered an outstanding coach as well. Sometimes those guys are overlooked.

Rob is a good coach and great guy, I agree he needs to get MCHS to the state tournament to be placed in the same catagory with Woods and Jackson. It is sometimes hardest to win with the best team.

Warren Central will probably be a top 10 team this year.

Woods and Jackson are clearly the top 2 coaches in the 12th. Coaching is primarily based on success and no one in the region can touch what these 2 have accomplished. The 12th does have several excellent coaches. Wayne and Lincoln will contend for the regional title with Mccreary being a slight favorite. Look for Wayne County to win the 12th this year, they are due.

Coach Deforrest is doing a great job at Garrard. He is a basketball guy who is always working to make his teams better. I wonder if he will try and return to Clinton County if Coach Messer leaves in the next few years? I know he is always keeping up with Clinton's supurb group of youngsters in middle school.

He went from Clinton County to Green County to Madison Central. His dad and Willie(current) coached at Russell County but not AJ.

It is my understanding that the job is "very" open with no clear frontrunner.

Southern has yet to prove that to be completely correct, although they have had some success, they still haven't won at the high school level with those kids. They probably will. I think the youth coaches 4-8 at Somerset have done a very nice job based on their aau and middle school state tournament success. Yes, they have alot of talent but they have also had a tremendous amount of success. It really remains to be seen what these terriffic young groups of players in the Somerset area will be when it counts. I personally think the people at all 3 Somerset area middle schools are doing a good job. I just wonder if middle school success translates into trips to Rupp Arena. We will all know soon enough. One other thought, middle school coaches do develope players, but players have to have a passion for the game in order to reach their maximum potential. Some parents have it, while their child might not. All GREAT players have a burning passion to play and they will make it no matter how they are coached at the middle school level. If you spend enough time playing, you can make yourself a player with very little help and if you are good enough, the coach IS going to let you play.

The longer Somerset drags this out, the harder it will be to put the pieces back together.

The talent level at Somerset in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades upcoming is outstanding! It would be a great situation for any coach to come in with no pressure to win and implement their system and then reep the rewards in 2-3 years. I look for the Jumpers to make 2-3 sweet sixteen trips in the next 6 years. Someone is going to be very happy they took this job!

Who runs the Shining Stars organization and from what city are they based? They appear to be the strongest organization in the state.

Junior Johnson 1979 Lafayette Mike George Shelby County 1978 both lead their teams to the state championship

Father/son camp is a wonderful experience but very little if any basketball skills are taught. Go for fun, don't expect to learn. Great experience with your son and lots of interaction with the players. Transy is still the best camp for basketball instruction for a young player.

None of them will play until they're seniors. Scott County has an overabundence of talent and there will be alot of kids dissatisfied. Look for mass transfers over time. I feel sorry for the kids that grew up in the system and are going to get passed over.

Brandon Bender is one player that kinda went against this trend. State champ as a Sophmore and shouldve been MVP of the tourney. Had a national reputation and played a national schedule at Ballard. But folks in the state didnt like his additude so it hurt him being Mr. Basketball. (A LOT like Hopson) Any other state the award is his by a landslide! Josh Carier got it by the way. (WOW) What exactly did Brandon Bender do at the next level? I do agree he was better than Carrier but didn't his attitude affect his college career as well? By the way, who was the last big time player from Louisville? Alan Houston?

He has come in and done a great job. He has the respect of the players and the community. The Clinton County program is definitely on the rise. I sure hope Clay doesn't approach him, I think that is the only program he would leave us for.
