Absolutely correct on both accounts. Coach Arnold is a good fit for Augusta, give her time and she will have herself a nice program. She already has that young bunch of girls playing hard on every possession and she is doing things the right way. She is a class act and a hard worker. Very nice of Bracken to observe a moment of silence for Coach Busers mother passing. Mason County did things the right way. They dress 15, and 13 score. Seniors played an average of 11 minutes of the game. This is how you garner respect amongst your opponents not only for the present time, but also for the future. Great class by Augusta in wearing the black bands in honor of Coach Busers mother. What makes athletics a beautiful thing amongst the high school ranks!

The free throw woes most likely would be due to the fact that 3 of the players that went 0-2 were in their first varsity action as 8th graders and 1 player receiving limited time all season and also a 8th grader. The main starters went 7 of 8 from the line. Those three players were Chambers 2/2, Cline that was 1/2 and Menke 4/4. Mason as a team shot 8 for 16 from the stripe. I wouldn't read alot into 50% on this night.

That is correct, two are 8th graders and 1 freshman. They were just moved up the last regular season game as Mason is carrying 15 players in the post season.

Due to personal reasons, Coach Schultz I was informed through newpapers and radio media that she has stepped aside and Coach Kelsch was promoted as the acting coach. To be noted: Coach Schultz is on the bench, just not in the acting role as the Head Coach. Maybe PK can enlighten us a little more on this subject.

I wish we could just talk about the game and not take jabs at people involved in the game. Bracken County moves on, win the one that counted the most, and congrats to both teams. The future for St. Patrick looks pretty good.

I didn't forget it, I don't have to include that in sending congrats to a young head coach that led his team to a victory. Injuries are a part of life and part of the game. Congrats to the Lady Bears and Interim Head Coach Patrick Kelsch. What a storm to weather in making the transition from assistant to acting Head Coach and getting your girls on the same page. There has never been a doubt in my mind that you would be the top guy in some program. Congrats to you and your Lady Bears. It was a great night if your last name was Kelsch, and welcome to the 10th Region Tournament next week. Best of luck come Thursday in the championship game.

According to the radio, there was 9 ties with the last coming at 47-47 before Shawn White scored 6 straight and Mofford connected on 3 out of 4 free throws in the final 2 minutes. Valiant effort for the Polar Bears, but in the end I think the experience prevailed and congrats go out to Robin and the guys from A-Town on making it 3 straight for only the second time in school history. I went on record before and I will go again that Robin Kelsch is as fine of a coach and person as you will fine in high school athletics. Its a win win situation for the town of Augusta, basketball is good for the town and Robin is good for the game of basketball. Congrats and enjoy the ride once more!

Agree Mustang, when you do things the right way like Coach Simms and his staff have done all season, most of the time something good happens in the end and on this night PC is celebrating. The guys who stuck it out and the staff are all winners!

Hold on, according to KHSAA site, the Lady Saints have allowed 80 and 75 points in 2 out of their last 3 games.

The only information that is needed here is that Manual is a very nice team, very quick, athletic, and one of the better Louisville teams. Montgomery has nothing to hang their heads on in this loss. Montgomery is beatable just like every team, but they will be a tough out with post season approaching.

The Knights of Columbus needs to feed and feed and feed some more of their annual cookings to the post players for St. Patrick between now and Tuesday so they can muscle up and play physical against Mason County. If that could happen, the Saints will hang around for a while, if not then its going to be a long night. The Royals seem to shy away from contact. The Saints can't seem to find any O outside of Owens and Anderson. The support cast has kind of went and hidden the last couple of games according to the box scores for St. Patrick. I would look for a Miller-Owens matchup on the floor.

I simply scratch my head at games like this, Station really had no one over 6'4 and yet D. Miller is still playing out on the floor and catching on the perimeter. I believe Miller would be more effective on the block against teams without size. He got his points, simply didn't have a support cast. The Royals will bounce back and the post season you will see a team with the urgency to get it done.

I was guessing on my way home tonight that at some point I would see Clark County mentioned in this thread. I should have bought a lottery ticket tonight.

37th District - Campbell Co. and Brossart 38th District - Harrison Co. and Pendleton Co. 39th District - Mason Co. and Bracken Co. 40th District - Montgomery Co. and Paris Bold teams represent District winners. I spoke with someone at Bryan Station and they are in school today, therefore I would look for this one to be played. Decisions are usually made around 2pm concerning Mason County games.

I think it would be awesome if Trevor was to go with his teamate and good friend, and that would be his choice. I personally think that he is better than any of those walk ons that UK has currently.

Does anyone remeber the UNFORGETTABLES! Kentucky boys plus one big stud aka Patterson and watch out. The only piece they are missing is a quality point guard in this group. I think it would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!:dancingpa:fire::banana::flame:

Great analysis....:confused:When you force a team to take shots from the perimeter you are playing defense from preventing ball penetration into the lane and that is what happened. I never said Paris was an exceptional shooting team, but I know a much better and higher percentage shot is closer to the basket than what was allowed that night when Mason played Paris. That my friend is a credit to the defense for shutting down higher percentage shots in the lane. Everyone has talked up Paris and their defense and rightfully so as they are a pretty good defensive team, but on this night bud, Mason was the better on both sides of the ball. Outside of the Chambers kid being unstoppable, the only other thing that Mason Co did that Paris didn't was make shots. Lets see, we can talk about the turnover department which Mason forced more than Paris did, we can talk about a 8th grader for Mason that quite possibly played a complete game and, we can talk about Cline playing a great floor game and defensive game with 4 steals to go along with 5 assists and 15 points. The only thing Paris accomplished this night was win the JV game handily.

I have a suspicion that the 5:30 start and 1 game format for tomorrow night will be to allow for viewing the Mason/Bryan Station matchup at the fieldhouse. Coach Hinson will probably want to take this game in for scouting purposes if I were to guess.

Chris Owens is 27 points away from 2000 in his career. It would be a good way to walk away from the Clover Dome tomorrow night before post season play arrives.
