  1. I understand what you are saying, B-BALL. As I said previously, I did mess up on the analogy, and I admit I was getting a little antsy at not receiving a reply to my question. My anxiousness, however, was not based on wanting to become involved in a conflict laden discussion. I did honestly want to hear what others thought on the subject, and still do. I know that not everyone has the same opinion as I do. That is one of the things that makes life so fun and unique. I do hope, however, that those who wish to state their opinions can give thoughts, facts, or solutions to back them up. As I stated in my first post on this subject, I have a deep interest in some of the things that have been said on this thread, due to my mental health status and being a law abiding, responsible gun owner. I hope no one ever takes anything that I say on here as a personal attack, because that is not who I am or ever hope to be. I do enjoy lively, intelligent banter, which this sit is very full of.
  2. We've always fried them. We would mix up a bunch of batter, and dip fish, frog legs, and turtles all in the same batter and fry them up in a huge pot of grease. Ok, now I am hungry.
  3. Ok, I will admit that my analogy was a bit off base. But I still can't fathom how anyone can try to lump so many people into one " not worthy" group, without knowing all of the details. With your line of "logic", there would be almost no one who would be found "capable" of owning a firearm. Any former military veteran is capable of suffering from PTSD, so that would mean that all Vets would not be allowed to own firearms. And, since a very large number of Law Enforcement Officers are Vets, then they would all be disqualified from their jobs. Let's not forget current Military personel. With the stress that they endure every single day, it's a wonder that any of them don't suffer from a mental defect from time to time. In your eyes, I guess we should take their weapons, and give them all pool noodles to engage the terrorists with. And all new mothers are subject to Post Partum Depression, so we may as well call them all crazy and take away their rights, as well. Any one person can have a mental breakdown at any given time. There is no way to predict who it will be. It can be caused by genetics, environment, chemical induction, or any other myriad of things. By your standards, we might as well get rid of ALL firearms, and become a nation of Pacifists who sit by and watch the terrorists and the criminals take over.
  4. So let me get this straight, Tm. With out knowing anything about me, other than the fact that I have been diagnosed with depression, you believe that I should not be allowed to own, or use a firearm to protect myself and my family, or to provide food for my family through legal hunting practices, or any other reason. What about the fact that I have been through, and passed, a concealed weapons class and a hunters education class? How about the fact that I was raised around firearms, and taught safety and to respect them from the earliest of ages? None of that factors into your decision? It's ok to just lump all people that may not be "perfect" in the head into one group and forbid any of us to use firearms. How about, since you are at it, maybe force potential gun owners to subject themselves to personality tests, Rorschach tests, and IQ tests? Its proven that people with higher than average IQs are more likely to suffer from mental health disorders. So, we can just stop all "smart" people from owning guns. Is that your next idea? And one last thing. The government forcing people to have tattoos applied as a form of identification has been tried before.... Just ask the Holocaust survivors.
  5. Ok, reading through this thread, I have seen post upon post mentioning people's "mental health", as a reason to stop them from owning a firearm. My question is this: To what limit would you use this? what Mental Disorders are "ok", and which one's aren't? I am a gun owner, an outdoorsman, and a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I also suffer from clinical depression, and am medicated for it. Does this mean, in your eyes, that I should no longer be allowed to own or use a firearm, solely based on the fact that I have a chemical imbalance in my brain? I have never considered going on a shooting spree, and think of myself as a responsible gun owner.
  6. 431..... apparently I'm not an impressive member, lol.
  7. I think I could go pro in procrastinating....... but I think I will wait until later to find out for sure....
  8. I am ashamed that I know this, but two member of the Backstreet Boys were from Lexington, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrel. Also, Laura Bell Bundy, who played a young Sarah Whittle on "Jumanji", and has several songs out, is from Lexington.
  9. Russell and Ashland. Russell because they have been our biggest rival for as long as I can remember, and Ashland just because, lol.
  10. I believe Puddin' is originally from Greenup County. Also, Christian Rock group Audio Adrenaline is from Ky. The brother of original lead singer, Mark Stuart, was my 6th grade math teacher.
  11. Bi - fold smooth black leather. Brand doesn't matter to me, but this is the only style I have ever carried. It's the Sam as my dad has carried for as long as I remember.
  12. As the father of a child with Type 1 diabetes, I agree with you. What's sad is, scientists were on the verge of basically curing diabetes some time ago, but they were utilizing stem cell research in their efforts. When all of the hick hack over Stem Cells came about, they had to stop the work that they had done. Fortunately, there seems to be hope in creating an artificial Pancreas. Hopefully soon.....
  13. There have been several bear sighting in and around Greenup County in the last few weeks. Some have been "out in the country", but at least one has been seen in the Russell/Raceland area numerous times. Granted, I remember seeing bear sign as a kid, before the IP was built, (my family's farm borders it), but this is the first time I remember confirmed sightings.
  14. Congrats to the Bluebirds for the win. You all field an excellent team. Good luck tomorrow night. To my beloved GCHS, congrats to you all for a great season. Back during the first few weeks of the season, I never would have imagined that you all would have made it this far. You boys have grown and matured so much over the year. I can't wait to see what you all do in the future. I have a feeling that tonight will not be the last time that this team finishes their season at State.
  15. I love "Mondegreens" (misheard song lyrics). Don't forget classics such as "Excuse me while I kiss this guy", and "When a man loves a walnut".
  16. Trade Days in Lucasville, OH tomorrow. Probably getting some more chickens, maybe another goat. Back to work on Sunday.
  17. I would love to see the rest of the body, especially the ears, paws and tail. It's head does look caninish, but i'm not so sure.....
  18. RIP brother, your work here is through. Prayers for his family, both by blood and by fire.
  19. Of course it will be on Wednesday and Thursday. Those are my off days from work. The weather Gods are determined to keep me from fishing again this year.
