Good point. I agree that Hoof is a great coach, but remember that Logan is only starting his 2nd year as a high school head coach. Given time, we may very well have 2 district coaches in the HOF.

That very well could be the case. He will be spending ALOT of time on the diamond this spring, IMO.

No offense to my alma mater, but I don't know if they could have found someone to be a "sure bet" for Senior Night.

I agree, it's a great thing for our area. The biggest thing we need to do is to keep these kids interested in baseball. What will help us right now is that we seem to be in a special time here. From the sounds of it, we as an area are saturated with really good talent and coaches. If we as a whole can get these young players out to watch some of these high school games, then it should help to show them what they are striving to be. Also, I know that Greenup, in the past, has had little league clinics at the high school, where the GCHS staff and team have spent time with the kids. This, IMO, is a great way to keep the interest alive. I have seen many kids come up to the high school ballplayers looking for autographs and such. If they get to spend a day with their "heroes", then that,too, may help keep them interested.

He may have, but there is a difference now. When Billy graduates, odds are he will be playing college ball somewhere. If he goes somewhere away from here, Greg won't be able to follow him as much because of work, other family, etc. So since he will still be here, it only makes sense that he stays with the team, as much as he loves the game.

I agree that video games are a big threat. Why would a kid want to work his/her tail off to be like a pro player when they can just plug in a video game and "be" the same player at the push of a button.

I will admit that EC seemed to have GCHS number last year.

When I was in 5th grade, we were playing a game against a team from the other end of the county. There was one woman there who was harassing the ref. WAY TOO MUCH. After one of the many loud comments that she made, the ref. blew the whistle, stopped everyone and turned to the woman. He took off his whistle and then said loud enough for all to hear, "Lady, if you know so much about basketball, you get out here and do it! If not, sit down, shut up, and let me do my job!" Needless to say, the red-faces woman didn't say another word. As a side note, it was later discovered that she didn't have a child there. She wasn't a mother to any player or cheerleader, she just decided to show up!
