  1. So I guess there is no interest in Freshmen in NKY this year. Must mean most posters were parents last year.
  2. Who are the teams to watch? Are there any schedules finalized?
  3. Thelan was not even the third best big man in the sophomore group in the 9th. Trevan Brown of Boone County, Bobby Stauffer of Ryle and Joey Allen of Holy Cross were all better than Thelan. I would even put some power forwards in the sophomore group ahead of Thelan as well. He is a nice player, but he does not have the skills and size to replace Maile that is just a bad comparison.
  4. Look for two or three at Ryle to get PT.
  5. I have heard a teacher from an elementary school in Covington will replace Sully.
  6. Willoughby and Murray are not what you want to rely on for key role players. By the end of the year, I think they will rely more on the Sophomore, last year's frosh, group of guys especially their two bigs and two guards.
  7. What about the other Boone County schools? Do they have any talent or does everyone go to Boone this year?
  8. This is not the way you want to start at a new school.
  9. No, not yet and it is way late in the process. How do you not hire a basketball coach before the summer break? Wilhoit should've stepped down from his coaching duties at Boone and had this done already.
  10. Kind of hard to interview candidates when you're coaching baseball.
  11. I never stated anything about Ferguson graduating after 2004, I was giving an example of angry parents at Niemi. Unless you've played for, which I have, Nate or work at Ryle, which I do, then you have no clue. I never said basketball came first at Ryle but what I said is that Niemi was not going to be the coach no matter who the principal was. It is very frustrating for a coach to have to deal with the type of parents at Ryle year in and year out. It is an enigma at Ryle. Also, they are on their 3rd coach in 10 years. Eckstein, the guy from Pennsylvania, and now Warner. Here's a thought, notice how Ryle is doing with a good coach in football who is not even in the building? Why don't more schools do this? Just because you can teach does not mean you can coach.
  12. You are correct, I overread the post. But, he was saying that the percentage is based on # of years it is not. The percentage stays the same but the years served is used as the base to use that percentage on.
  13. Shadrach, you are wrong on two things. One no one has been interviewed for the basketball coaching position yet. This is straight from Mike Wilson the principal. Two, the percentage that a coach makes in Boone County for a varsity basketball coach is 17% of the number of years of experience of a Rank III teacher. For Example: Exp Salary x 17% 1 30000 5100 2 31000 5270 3 32000 5440 4 33000 5610 . . . 15 50000 8500
  14. Yeah, like he is actually going to give names as top candidates
  15. Cougarfan, do you know anything about any word floating around Hebron and the coaching situation there? Wilhoit has said that Garnett is definitely a candidate just seeing if Hicks is making any plans.
  16. Sandman you're wrong again. The teaching and coaching contracts are separate, trust me I've had both. They are signed separate and they don't "add" to your salary. You think you know everything but you don't so get over it.
  17. You are correct that Cooper was still around and teaching contracts are due on April 15 but what you forget is that coaching contracts are not due on that day. After what happened with Niemi's letter, there was quite a fraction within the building, and trust me I am there every day, to get somebody new to coach the team. There were staff members tired of having the same image of Ryle's teams year in and year out and they sided with parents that it was Niemi and not their fault. Parents are and will always be a problem at Ryle until a coach handles communication with the parents more effectively.
  18. Cooper will play the NKAC schedule like that of Ryle and Boone and Conner. They are in the 33rd and need to be prepared.
  19. Ryle PG-Ahern SG-McLeish SF-Coleman PF-Russell (Hopefully he'll play) C-Nichols (Stauffer - if he deosn't play)
  20. Are these all 9th region moves?
  21. This has been my point but people keep saying they know he wants to stay at Holmes. I can't see why he would stay there for less money and know that Henley will be there for at least 3 more years. If and when Henley leaves, he can always apply there if he wants. Here is the tough thing though, Cooper won't be good for a few years, will that ruin his chance at getting the Holmes job later?
  22. Okay, when Garnett says no and Sullivan says no, then the new AD will name an Assistant within the Boone County system as new head coach. Either Noel Williams, already an employee at Cooper, or the Assistant at Boone.
  23. First, my fault on the regional title game he actually sat a District Title game. And, no he was not retained for the 06-07 season. He was in talks to move up to principal before April 15th and did not resign a contract. It was known throughout the building that the new principal wanted his own coach and was getting a lot of pressure from within, (see Ferguson), to make a change.
  24. If it is not Sullivan and is not Garnett, then it is a wild card and up for anyone. Also, what happened to Nate? Let's see parents complained about a letter he wrote to inspire the team that had a quote from the Bible and he had to sit during the regional title game. If Nate had not taken the promotion, he still would not be the coach at Ryle. This is a FACT. Nate had the best interest of the kids at heart and parents screwed it up!
  25. That is exactly what is wrong with Ryle and will be at CHS if Cooper doesn't hire someone who can have a good relationship with parents while still running the show. I think Sullivan can do it and I think Garnett can do it, but his desire for the position is not clear.
