Who are the top incoming freshman to play high school basketball next year in NKY?

I personally believe that Zeke Pike, from Turkey Foot Middle School is the top incoming freshman for the 2008-09 season, I have heard that he will be seeing alot of Varsity minutes this season for Dixie Heights. I saw him play against Holmes in the Middle School Championship, had a outstanding game, with 28 points he led his team to a Championship!

 

I also have heard that Cooper Downs is also a name I have heard who plays at Okerman Middle School and will be playing for Boone County next year. But has alot of young talent in front of him.

Not sure if this is to see what Frosh will be playing JV/Varsity or if you are trying to find out what kind of talent is going to be at the Freshman level playing Frosh ball.

 

Highlands Frosh next year will feature 4 solid ball players. I would say Charlie Reekers, Jake True, Pat Towles and Carter New (incoming from ST. Cath and Kenny Shields Grandson) will compete to be 4 of the starting 5. Carter New could be one of the top players in NKY by mid year.

 

NCC will have a very good one in Brady Hightchew.

Brady Hightchew was the best eighth grader I saw this year..The kid is lighting quick and extremely aggressive..

His response to me above further exemplified his case for Zeke playing up next year which is fine but I think we get his take at this point.

I would expect so. Being held back a year, he will have the body of a sophomore, so I think that would help him at least initially in high school.

Cody Chambers who played his eighth grade season on the jv/varsity squad for Simon Kenton.

Pike will be a very nice player in High School if he keeps working hard and

improving. Wanted to mention that the Turkeyfoot - Highlands game wasn't

all that ugly as the final score ended up being 53-43. It was a four point

game middle of fourth quarter. Pike had a nice game finishing with 18 points.

Like I said, an overzealous kid posting on here earlier. LEts face it, Pike has some genes to be a very strong athletic kid and being held back a year will definitely help him move up the ranks at Dixie. I look forward to watching this kid play.

After seeing kids in the 7th and 8th grade his past year I understand now why some parents do this. It is a clear advantage from a physical maturity standpoint. Once they become Sophomores they usually catch up.

 

Any other standout 8th graders this past year who will be Frosh and where will they be attending school?

Probably the two best I saw were Zane McCreary and Cooper Downs. Those two will both be at Boone next year. Another player who is starting to look good is JR Doss. His 8th grade year was his first year of organized basketball. He is 6'4 and athletic. He has been playing this summer with some high school kids and is starting to look really good. He will join McCreary and Downs at Boone.
