The head coach is only as good as his assistants. Are there any issues with his assistants? As far as Harp goes, he is and deserves to be untouchable, period.

Do we need to talk about how many male officials have blown calls? How does this relate to the thread? This thread is about a female coach. I thought the REACTION to the call was weid..the fact she blew is secondary. The fact she didn't seem to have the same intensity of that play bothered me much more than the call itself. Everybody misses calls, but miss it with some passion towards the play.

How many free throws did FC miss?

I dont have an issue with it. I personally would not enjoying playing for or coaching with a femaile. But, if someone else can do it then its fine with me. Honestly, I saw a female official blow a call in the end zone a few years ago in the state championships. It wasn't so much that she blew the call, it was more about how she reacted to the play. She acted as if it was just any other play....she could have given a hand signal or something to say why she didn't make the call....but as I recall It, I got the feeling she simply didn't have the same feel for the game. It was an odd reaction. And, like it or not, it doesn't mean you can't KNOW the game, you can. But it also doesn't mean you know what its like to line up knowing you will kick some butt or get yours kicked.

Horns and lights. Been around too many HS events where the clocks don't be function properly, lights out, etc etc. although it happens more for outside events than basketball. I must say, I have not seen a HS BB game without a clock. Now, who tests these reliable horns, buzzers and lights? How do you know they are calibrated and timed to go off properl? I have never seen a HS coach, administrator, or referree test these systems before a game or during the setup for a game. No matter what you do, there can be errors. The only way instant replay can work is if the official clock is shown inside the screen. And since ESPN or CBS isn't there I assume we will stay with us humnas trying to figure it out. Although, the yellow first down line in FB would be SWEET

How many free throws did both teams shoot in this game and how many were made? Lets just see how this game could have been effected by the charity stripe shooting.

I just watched it again. Its really close on the walking call. He was putting the dribble down nearly simultaneously. Now, if the walk had been called, Franklin would still be upset and most likely even more than they are right now. And, still the argument would be going on and on about whether he walked because it wasn't obvious. The KHSAA would have to mandate all Region sites have instant replay and the lights in the backboards in order to accomplish a good replay system. HMMMM..wonder if anyone ever test the lights and clock to see if they are timed up properly. Are these ever calibrated or is the technology just that good?

I understand and agree. I'm just making the point that while a last second shot gets all the focus, I'm sure many things happened throughout the night by the coaches and players that would have avoided a last second event.

So, players shouldn't be expected to make free throws and layups? This whole conversation is a bit much. We are talking about HS officials. I am amazed of the quality I see most games. Its pretty darn good. One of the NFL's best blew a game two seasons ago for San Diego I believe. Replay could not be used to correct it. He still calls games and while he is a professional he still has a day job. He doesn't spend 24/7 living being an NFL official. Things happen. Believe it not, these kids will grow from it. The officials will get better from it.

I wonder if Franklin Co. made all their free throws and all their layups in this game. If not, the coach should have spent more time on the free throw line in practice and working on layups.

If Scott lets him go it would be in his best interest. No need for him to have to stay around a bunch of people that don't know what a great coach they have.

Pretty darn easy to become an official. Pass a test, pay your money and join an association. Its up to the association to give you games or not. Accredited? That is hilarious.

I'd say you could pick a jerk out fairly effectively. 7 post into bluegrass preps and you think this is a free internet blog, without regard for people. You may want to stick to ESPN columns. You can post there and no one will actualy read it.

Well officiated game. Highly contested game, lots of athletes on the floor. Clark Co. was 3 happy tonight. With the size advantage they had I expected them to pound it and then pound it some more. I thought one big man for Clark was shooting 3's all night. I think that is 21's job to shoot the 3 ball. Great coaches on both sides. Mason played well as a team, stayed to their plan and just made it happen at the end.

Bo wasn't the trail official, it wasn't his call. And, without a replay system to get it right, the other officials may or may not be able to help because it isn't their call. Especially the guy under the basket, he has the worst chance of any of them. The other officials have other jobs. It is unfortunate, but it was his call. I hate this event for all involved. The quote above is ridicuous. These officials are graded constantly. No one wants to be an official anymore for this very reason. Add replay to HS ball, then your problem is solved. Until then, watch the game and enjoy.

Tough situation for sure. Its funny, I mentioned MC would have won this thing earlier if Garland had not been injured and the reaction was as if I was crying around, which is ridiculous. My point was only to say MC is a much better team with her (she did sign D-1) and I avoided any discussion about the late return of Clark's player from that discussion.

Mason is not as tall but they are leepers and they play heady. I think their headiness will trump Clark's talent.

I agree completely, but as someone stated....stuff happens. Clark Co. understands how stuff happens...
