Can one of the Highland's fans please give me a link to the football website? How about it Cousin Eddie?

I think Hillard Howard (LCC) should possibly be on that list. He took a third year program to the third round of the playoffs and went 11-2.

Not sure how LCC didn't make the top 50 in the state. We were 11-2 in class 5A football.

Highlands was the best TEAM I saw this year hands down! They play together and as a unit. Talk about peaking at the end of the year! I would have put them up against anyone at the end. Those seniors were determined to destroy anyone that tried to get in there way of a State Championship and that is exactly what they did. Congrats bluebirds!

Great point! I was talking to another Highlands fan, and he told me that all kids show up for summer workouts at Highlands. That is just about impossible here at Letcher County Central due to summer jobs, transportation, other sports, etc. At Highlands and other schools with great tradition, the parents have also won State Championships and they make their kids participate in the summer schedule because they want their kids to experience the same feeling they had. You can get the kids sold on winning but getting the parents sold is the tough part IMO.

I haven't seen all the other teams play in the North, but it is hard to believe that #60 from Highlands is not on the 1st team. I thought all three LB's were unbelievable but he really stood out on film and on the field. Very physical!

Probably about 6'2" or 6'3" right now but he will get taller I think. His father is 6'9". He sure didn't get as ugly as his father, so I don't know if he will take after him in height or not.:lol:

Banks had a pulled hamstring against Highlands but I thought he still had an excellent game. He is one of the toughest kids you will ever see and that is something you cannot coach. LN, he finished the season with 2000 yards in the air and 19 touchdowns, and 900 on the ground with 20 touchdowns. He really did a great job in his first year as the starting QB. He has been invited to the Louisville game this Thursday and Georgetown has sent him a few letters. I look for him to be a big prospect next year.

Wish I could have gotten to meet you also Henry. I will be up at Papa Johns so maybe we can meet up then.

Great game Highlands and good luck to you guys this coming week. Everything from the facilities to the fans and players was first class! That is the fastest defense I have ever seen and the three LB's all look to be D1 prospects. It was a great game for us because it showed our kids how championship teams play football. It was nice to meet you Leatherneck and Birdsfan! Hopefully, we will see each other again next year.

Let me say this from Letcher County. I am very close to the program. Birdsfan can tell you a little more about that at the game if he wants. The goal for our program this year was to go north and play you all. Highlands football is what we want our program to be like 20 years down the road. Everyone thought that next year was going to be the year we competed with the rest of the state but our Seniors have refused to believe that and they made it happen this year. We are proud of our kids no matter what happens Friday. In saying all this, we are still going to bring everything we have up against you guys Friday. Good luck to you guys! Your football program is a class act, and so are your fans! We look forward to our trip to Ft. Thomas Friday and may the best team win!

I think we both know that LCC is a different team now.

They ( Letcher Central) are a three school consolidation. One school didn't have football until their last year of existance and played a JV schedule. School number 2 was 1-9 in class 1a and school number three was 3-7 in class 2A. Consolidation didn't hurt at all!!!!!!!!!!!

These LCC kids have acomplished a lot in only three years in existence. After two back to back 4-6 seasons these kids are 11-1. Instead of knocking them and stating how bad you're gonna beat them---why not show a little class and be happy for BOTH teams and their success. Highlands didn't get to where they are in a year or two. Let's be proud of all our kids who are going to the third round. But then--be a butt if that is your desire. I chose to congradulate both LCC and Highlands on great years.
