  1. Since it looks like Dayton will be playing Frankfort in the first round, how are they this year? The only time I can remember playing Frankfort was in 2002 I think, and it was a good game with Frankfort winning. Just curious.
  2. Sounds like a lot to handle on the kids, all I can say is good luck to Conner in both games. :thumb:
  3. I know he hurt his knee in the game Friday night in the first half, that is why he didn't play as much in the second half. I was told he was recieving an MRI on Saturday morning, and probably just some strains to the knee area. Haven't heard anything on the MRI results, but hopefully he will be back soon.
  4. The game would be missed by all, but I think the merged school (if only Dayton and Bellevue merged) would be very competitive year in and year out. The problem these two schools have is what Dayton is going through right now, in '04 they had about 6 seniors, '05-16, '06-7, '07-16, '08-5. They go back and forth with these small numbers. Bellevue has the same problem. With the added enrollment and the football tradition both of schools bring with them they would very competitive. Not every single year, but IMO most.
  5. What is cutoff line just out of curiosity?
  6. I also think this is correct. Although the dislike is still there, I think it is more of a dislike from the athletics stand point. It used to be each city just didn't like the people from the other, but now it seems to be growing into just an athletic thing. Don't get me wrong, the rivarly is still as mean as it was before, but now there is more respect for each team out there. As for the merger, I think it will happen within the next 10 to 15 years. With budgets being cut every year, I think the state will make them and the powers that be will have no choice. Then we will play with Beechwood every year and not just every once in awhile.:flame:
  7. Whats your take on the merger? Do you think Newport would combine with the schools if they did?
  8. Ha ha, this one made me laugh. Good post
  9. Can I pick a tie? This one will be an entertaining game, especially for an outside fan. Bellevue has two good and fast running backs in Barrett and Buckler. I think they will have good games running up the middle where Dayton was able to move the ball on Lloyd. Lloyd's running backs are very fast and agile, and I think could hurt Bellevue on the outside. Since someone has to win, I guess I will take Lloyd by a point, but really this will be a good one. Lloyd 21 Bellevue 20 Good luck to both
  10. I personally think this will happen eventually. The small river cities will eventually combine to eleminate the cost of having all of the different administrators. IMO there will be a North Campbell County High School (Silver Grove, Dayton, Belleuve, Newport...) and the already existing CCHS will become South. Either way, this combined school would have one hack of a sports program, and they would be fun to watch.:thumb:
  11. The best post, and the best line I think I have read all year. I love how people who have no connection with either program try to condem the program and put them down. These people outside of these small programs have no idea what is it like to play for them, and to be associated with them. I would put the pride of Dayton/Bellevue/Ludlow/Newport ect.. fans up against every single school in the state. These teams have their down years because of the small numbers and the lack of "outside" players coming in, but their fans will still be there supporting them. Giligan was absolutely packed Friday night, and that atmosphere cannot be matched. Not by Beechwood or any other team. These teams play for pride with their childhood friends, not with kids from other areas.
  12. That should be a very good game. Might have to make it to that one.
  13. Good game all around, and I expected this game to be closer than most thought it would be. Bellevue just wore down the Dayton D with the inside run, like I stated in the predictions Dayton had to stop these inside runs to win the game. Both played hard and Bellevue deserved the win. Just to add one more thing, the breaks I was mentioning in the predictions thread are the breaks like the touchdown when time ran off the clock going into halftime. The ball bounced off two defenders and landed in the Bellevue's players hand for the touchdown. Those are the breaks that helped Bellevue win the game. Who does Bellevue have next week? Dayton is off.
  14. Dayton fans had a good time at our bon fire too. It is was an emotional one, and it always helps buring the tiger
  15. Today in the day! No more talk, no more anticipation. Dayton boys if you come to play, do your job, "go to work," "put your work in," and play with everything you have you can take that paddle back to Dayton. Keep it in the halls where everyone can see it. Your representing Dayton, and the people of Dayton. We will all be there to watch and cheer. They will bring it, so you bring it. Good luck and GO DEVILS:fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:
  16. It was before the resanction. It happened when Lickert took over at Dayton. He said there was too much emphasis put on these two single games of the year that the season was made or broke by the first game of the year. He also didn't like the fact that it was considered a good season if and only if Dayton beat Bellevue. It didn't take away the importance of this game, it just made the single game more important.
  17. I agree with you that good players make good plays. But you have never heard the saying, "That was a bad break."
  18. I'm saying that both teams will have their entire heart into this game. Both teams will lay everything on the line. I'm saying that heart will not effect the outcome of the game because both teams will play with everything they have.:fight: And then Bellevue got a big break when they threw the long pass at the end of the game to either score or set up the winning score. That is the kind of breaks both teams need.
  19. How can one say that Bellevue has so much better conditioning than Dayton? They both play ironman football, and both coaches know this going into the season and both coaches condition for this amount of playing time each player has. Im sure Bellevue is in great condition, but believe me Dayton will run right along with them. This game will not come down to condition nor heart, it will come down to the team who gets the good breaks during the game.
  20. Wow didn't know that. I'm glad they did that, it was always fun to watch at least three teams from the district win and then play each other in the second round rather than the first round.
  21. Dayton lost the biggest in 16 or 17 seniors. I'm not exactly sure how many Ludlow lost, but they were still able to return some starters from last year, and the same goes for Bellevue. They did lose their big offensive line from last year, but they returned the heart of their team in Buckler and Barrett. And that quote is perfect, I remember reading it in the paper and just remarking of how perfect it really is for this game. It seems like from when you are a starter in the NKYFL you learn to dislike the other team. Outside of sports we could be friends and talk to each other, but once those uniforms were put on or the mear mention of who is better in a certain sport it brings bad blood. I would have to say there isn't a rivarly like this one in the state, one that goes as deep as this one does. Both teams will come out firing on all cylinders. Both will be pumped beyond thier wildest dreams, it all comes down to who can execute for the entire game. Should be fun :fire:
  22. The meanest rivarly in the state coming this Friday. Bellevue is senior dominated, while Dayton is junior dominated. Before last weeks game against Lloyd, I thought the speed of Bellevue would give Dayton a lot of trouble, but Dayton was able to run with Lloyd most of the game. And I would dare to say Lloyd has better team speed than Bellevue does. This game will not be a blow out by any means, this will be a close 4th quater game. The keys for Bellevue to win is win the line of scrimage and be able to run between the tackles on Dayton. Dayton will be able to handle the outside runs and the passing game of the tigers. For Dayton to win they have to establish the run early and make Bellevue put eight men in the box, where Sherlock can then go to work on the out routes and fly routes. I have watched Dayton grow as a team since the start of the season, and they have came together at the perfect time. Not only are they starting to play as a single unit, but now they have the added bonus of going to Bellevue on their homecoming night. It is going to be a fun, hard hitting game with both teams laying it all on the line. If Dayton can stop the inside the run they win in a close one. Dayton 28 Bellevue 21 Good luck to both
  23. He has been told not to play then many times not to do that and needs to be reminded from the looks of last night. I didn't see any late hits, but I'm sure if any of the coaches seen them the players are paying for it today.
