DeSales dominated carrying the momentum most of the game. Running and passing effectively. Southern scored on an interception and a pass play to a running back down the middle of the field. That play really caught DeSales off gaurd as the guy was not even covered. No one was around him for about ten yards. Southern missed a field goal in overtime. Southern committed a pass interference against DeSales which game DeSales the opportunity to complete their overtime tie scoring drive to then cap it off with the winning field goal. Ended much closer than it seemed it was in the beginning of the game. Southern never gave up and almost prevailed in the end. Very good game.

Final

The record of Southern can not determine how good their team is when they have lost to quality teams outside their district. Interesting to see which team shows up to how the game will be won. If DeSales plays their style of football creating turnovers then Southern could lose in a close score. DeSales has to play mistake free football and come out strong the second half.

Sounds like it will be a close one and Southern may have been inconsistent from game to game this season.

Seems to be a very exciting bracket with some close match-ups.

I hear they have a better team than previous years. Any insight as to their season as to key players and how the rest of their season will play out?

I wonder because some teams are playing up in the class system right before the playoffs. These games are hardly scrimmages as some matchups could cause some injuries against solid ballclubs. I hate to see some teams face some of the better competition at the end of the schedule. Interesting to see how some of these games turn out with all the rain.

Good breakdown. That is what I was wondering was that of which District plays whom. You posted that 5 plays 7, but you have DeSales matched up with NCC and not possibly Prestonsburg.

I wish Seneca would get it together with their football program. They have so much talent year in and out and produce a dismal team every year.

CAL or Christian Academy of Louisville has a very solid team. When the played DeSales they loss by only 6 points due to 4 turnovers. If DeSales has a chance during the playoffs they better play mistake free football with all team members ready to focus on making their assignments.

Did they not have a game this week? I did not see anything posted on the KHSAA site. Any word on how the team is doing this year?

I was told Seneca scored 3 pts. Trinity 0. Then all of a sudden it was shock and awww. Them redhawks sure tried, have to give it to them. They are doing one heck of job with their new head coach. Coach oldham must be proud. If only they could beat Trinity again in this decade. I think NOT!!!

DeSales needs to work hard to oversee that all their players are academically elligable. I feel after the loss to Waggener they will not be taking Carroll Co. lightly at all and will be ready to play for the home crowd on Senior Night. Not to look ahead, but it would be good if DeSales puts up W's the last two games against Southern and Fairdale. Not that it would negate a loss against Waggener, just they need some affirmation. I do not think a win against Carroll Co. does it for them Friday night. DeSales has certainly showed they have the discipline, talent, and desire to beat anyone on a good night. Unfortunaltly, they also have shown they can play flat for whatever reason.

DeSales 40-6

I would like to see all of De Sales players eligible for this game. There were 13 players academically ineligible for the Wagner game last Friday. Three were freshman and although a few were starters it effected the team as a whole. An otherwise disciplined team with several players having personal fouls against them.... face mask and offsides infractions. They played as if they had the flu or something. I never seen a more unenthusiastic bunch of players that seemed as if they were half sleep and played very flat. It was the most unsettling feeling seeing the kids walk off the field after the game defeated and down on themselves. They were on the up and up winning the previous three games beating Holy Cross and a solid CAL team. Their coaches were worried that they had not practiced well during the week and may have gone into the game over confident. I am sure we will see a different De Sales team as they will be ready to redeem there image and show they are a team to not be taken lightly. They play on their home field at Manual Stadium for a district game on Senior night.

Good luck in your recovery. I know it does not feel good and you hate to miss the bread and butter of the season. Just be thankful it was diagnosed and you were properly treated. Sounds like you were in good hands and you are thankful for that.

Oh... forgot, there was a mention on the CAL game. It was predicted that DeSales would lose by Jason. Then in the paper he predicted DeSales to win and agreed with the other guy on the webcast. He would have been wrong again if he did not change his mind.
