  1. If Owen Co. pounds it down the middle they will not do very well. Not to contradict your feelings on the ability of their offense. I have watched DeSales and you are trying to take out their strong aspect of the defense if you plan to go down the middle to weaken them. Where they have been beat is running to the outside of the end or scrambling to the gaps. If you plan to pass it better be a slant to the sideline. My son is also a decent DT or DE and he averages 6 tackles a game. He will be playing with 100 percent intensity looking to take out any player coming his way. So don't count on the defensive line tiring as they do not plan on being on the field for as long as previous games. I do not think fatigue will be a factor.
  2. Where are these teams ranked in their district? I get LCA confused with CAL. I hear LCA has a pretty talented quarterback.
  3. I find the posts very interesting. Makes me a bit nervous going into this game as it sounds as if it may be a close game if I am reading the comments correctly. I know nothing of Owen Co. except that they may run a similar offense with some things thrown in to trick up the defense a bit. It would be good for DeSales if it is not a close game, but a decisive win. Anyone know directions please advise as will be my first time to the school.
  4. I don't know much about Owen Co. except for their record. I do intend on making the trip to watch the game. Do not be misled by DeSales' record as they are a much better team. They have come off to a slow start with some weaknesses that have been exploited by their opponents and some mistakes that have cost them a win. They are a young team with only 7 or 8 seniors to carry the team. They do have some very hard working player with a never die attitude. They are going to be hard to stop as they will continue to improve the next several games. DeSales needs a win in order to help with the morale of the team which right now is very suspect as they have had a great difficulty to get that check in the W column. I hope Owen Co. is not underestimating DeSales due to their record.
  5. From what I understand the Freshman squad is made up of about 26 kids give or take a few. Really good number for a 2A school. I would be surprised if most of the larger schools in the area have those numbers. They have some really good players and should reinforce last years group which went undefeated. So, DeSales will be a team to watch in the coming years. Which the outstanding coaching and talented player coming through we can only look for more good things from the Colts. They are nurturing a solid football program that kids will want to continue to be apart of in the coming years.
  6. I am from Henderson and would certainly love to attend but will be out of town. As the previous poster said it is a 2-21/2 hour trip and the stadium is very nice. Should be a good attendance by both teams fans. I have not been to a football game since I left in "89" but I am sure with the school expanding and it being the only high school in the ever growing area the atmosphere will be electrifying.
  7. From what I have seen they seem to be a second half type team. A team that is so young that some mistakes or otherwise fundamental football play is not executed. Yes, they are slow and I am not so sure some of it is just plain hesitation. Mark has been out for some three months just as the season was getting underway. He has to learn his team and make adjustments with some of the new plays he is adding to the offense. They have a close group of kids that work hard and have the discipline to "Bring It" on game night. Not the most talented bunch, but have continued to improve.
  8. They do not play this week. Like a previous poster said they play Owen Co. at Owen Co. Then they play Holy Cross on Saturday at Manual Stadium, which is where they now play there home games. The Holy Cross game is the week of Homecoming. They play a pretty solid schedule and need a win of any kind just to get their head's up. Tough being 3-0 starting the season. They are a very young team that has to be coached really hard as they are young. They are hard nosed and tough. They have several players listed in the states top 100 by position on maxpreps.com. One Senior is #2 in the state in tackles, another is #4 or 5 I believe. So, they have talent, it is just going to take some time to bring it out on the field. I really agree with the coach when he made a statement to the paper that he is still getting to know his team.
  9. Are they in 2A and if so where do you think they stand in the playoffs.
  10. The most annoying announcer so far I have heard is the guy from Bullit East.
  11. Where was this game played? Any updates from anyone who went to this game. I have been hearing a lot of good things about the quarterback from LCA.
  12. There are several teams that are 0-3 that I believe will finish strong as the season continues. I can see Holy Cross really revamping itself through the season into the playoffs.
  13. I know there are some true fans of the game and maybe even some experts. So just for fun lets see some predictions broke down by region and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Lets give predict the final record of each team as well. Thanks
  14. Ha... you beat me to it. I was getting on here to correct myself. I do mean Coach Reese. Thank you for the clarification. I wander what he is doing now.
  15. I do not know much about either school. however, I did graduate from Henderson County Senior High while Coach Rice was there so I have to pull for my school. I would love to see them make it here to Louisville during the finals. What better time to watch them than right here at Papa John's Stadium.
  16. I am curious if a poll can be started of categories such as best hit made, best tackling team and such of the week.
  17. Does anyone know if stats of individual players are available of local teams?
  18. Very good game for the chargers as they seemed to bring the game to the Colts. They controlled the momentum from the opening kickoff and DeSales did not seem to ever get into a rhythm. Very disappointing to see the ball get turned over on downs at 4th and 1. The blocking on offense has got to improve as do the correct assignments made. This is a team in the making and much tweaking to be done. I do have to say they are a much more talented team than they looked tonight. They are very young as the team is mostly made up of Sophmores and a few Seniors and Juniors. Several Seniors opted not to return this season instead deciding to work the UPS program. I was very impressed with the home field atmosphere and fan support. Bullit East and North Bullit are both solid football programs. Good game Chargers and good luck the rest of the season.
  19. I am an "89" graduate of Henderson Co. now living in Louisville, KY and I miss not being able to attend any games since leaving home. It seems however, since it is still the only high school in the County and how much Henderson has grown, there should be some stellar talent. I am amazed at how the program is not up there where say Male or Manuel is here in Louisville. With the size and support of the every growing school It seems they should be in the playoffs every year and knocking on the door of a state tittle. Any insight from anyone. Please respond.
  20. DeSales is a second quarter team that has a lot of depth. Do not count them out and with the lose last week they will be out for redemption.
  21. Look forward to seeing you there mh2365. I will be at the top of the bleachers cheering for defensive tackle #74. Everyone in attendance should be treated to a night of exciting football.
  22. I feel it will be a close game as well. Not sure of the spread but I do not think it will be as close as the Doss game.
