STATE TOP 5 ???

Featured Replies

ESJ: I like Lafayette and agree that they will be a good team by the end of the season, but no way they're top five right now.

Bad night again ??? Good team !!!!!!!!! Not a #1 @ this point or top 5 ... How you rank them #1 ahead of SL ??//

How do we put JH in the Top 5 when they have been twice spanked by an E-Town team, including last night, and also playe Scott Co. close at Scott Co.?

The question was whether South Laurel had virtually the same team ... they don't, primarily because of Fields' absence. Smith might be playing well, but the Cardinals also had the luxury of bringing a player of his potential off the bench last year, something they don't have this season.

South is still as deep as any team in the state. Sure Riley isnt as big, but he still causes mathcup problems, gives SL a fresh set of legs, can play ball very well, and is probably right at the level Trey was last season for SL.

Here's mine:

South Laurel

Scott Co.

PRP

Pendleton Co.

John Hardin

I don't know what order I would put them in, but that is a very solid group for the top 5.

Are Smith and Riley as good as Fields and Smith last year? Riley doesn't have the size as the other two guys, which means he probably doesn't cause as many matchup problems.

You've got me pegged wrong, Les ... I could care less about what the Southwestern fans say. And honestly, South Laurel wasn't necessarily the best team in the state last season ... but they won the games that counted.

Are you joking. They may not have been the most athletic team, but they were absolutely the BEST TEAM. Emphasis on TEAM. They have the championship to prove it.

1. South Laurel

2. Scott County

3. Pendleton County

4. PRP

5. John Harden

5. John Harden

How do you have John Hardin at 5?? Elizabethtown just beat them again last night!! E-town has beat JH two out of three games now.

IMO

No, I'm not joking. The best team doesn't always win the championship.

Truth be told, there was no best team in the state last season ... there were several with a legitimate chance to win it all, and South Laurel made the most of their chance.

 Most would say that makes SL the best team i.e. champions.

I hate this whole, "the champ of the sweet 16 isnt neccessarily the best team" stuff. Ppl just cant be satisfied with giving a team their due credit. Its the same thing in college football.... that is exactly why we have the BCS, so the supposed best 2 teams can square off so we can figure out who the best team really is. We see how big a mess the BCS is though. Ppl are calling for a playoff. But when you have a playoff we come right back to the original problem.... "the champ isnt the real best team."

SL was the best team last season because they have the ring and trophy to prove it.

Don't ever discount a championship. South Laurel won it. That means they were the BEST team.

If you want to talk about your favorite team, the team you liked watch the most, or the team that should have won it, start a thread to that effect.

South Laurel was the BEST team in 2005! Championships that are cheapened are sour grapes.

1. South Laurel
