February 26, 201214 yr Casino's would bring many jobs, I think they would be worth it just by the amount of new jobs it would bring. So it's a good idea because it creates jobs, correct? I guess casino gambling would be an economic windfall, is that why so many of you are in favor?
February 26, 201214 yr So what's next? What happens when the revenue from gambling isn't enough? Do we go to prostitution? Face it not may people are all that concerned about the additional revenue. That's what I said, isn't it? The main benefit of ending the gambling ban is that a lot of people enjoy doing it and I don't see any reason they shouldn't be allowed to. Increased revenues for the state would simply be a beneficial side-effect.
February 26, 201214 yr You can't be serious. If enough people want to legalize prostitution then it's ok? Heck, why stop there. How about we just settle disputes with a gun fight in the middle of the streets. I mean if enough people want it.............................. If a proposal to amend a constitution has enough support, then yes, it deserves to be voted on. I don't think there is very much support for either of those examples that you listed. Really, all you've done is say that we shouldn't have gambling just because we don't have gambling and that the people shouldn't have the right to vote on it. You've not given any real reasons why we shouldn't.
February 26, 201214 yr So you want eutopia. Why not let the people vote on every issue? How about prostitution, should we be allowed to vote on that also? Hey I want alcohol sales in my dry county, should we vote on that? What other issues to we vote on? Why is gambling different? Absolutely you should get to vote on it. That's how our system works. Camparing this and shooting each other in the streets or voting on speed limits is just silly. Speed limits are for safety reason as is being able to shoot it out in the streets. As far as prostitution, why its it illegal? Something you can do for free but if you charge for it you go to jail. Just dumb.

Just dumb. Why is it silly? Two people have a dispute and are willing to shot it out, then why not let them? It's their choice and everyone should have a choice, correct? I mean who else are they hurting? As for the speed limit, if the majority of the people wanted to reduce the speed limit on I-75 to 65 mph from 70 mph because they felf it would make it safer then why not? What blows my mind is that most of you actually believe that the money lost in casinos would stay in Kentucky.
February 26, 201214 yr Author WHat Gaming Can do. Lic. Fees - means millions of Dollars Tax - Means millions of Dollars New Job's - ????? Horse industry -increase purses + more horses running at KY tracks + more Horsemen boarding horses = more jobs Gaming won't fix all of the KY General Assmebly probelms. They will continue to committ waste, fraud, and abuse of KY TAX dollars until KY demands term limits on these criminals. With Out Gaming KY General Assmebly probelms, They will continue to committ waste, fraud, and abuse of KY TAX dollars until KY demands term limits on these criminals.

Comparing drinking in a dry county or making prostitution legal to shooting it out in the street over a dispute is absolutely absurd. I shouldn't have to explain to you why.
February 26, 201214 yr Far and away the reason Kentucky needs casinos is horse racing. Not only are dollars leaving Kentucky to go to neighboring states' casinos, even worse is that horses are leaving the state and the race tracks are dieing.

Not only are dollars leaving Kentucky to go to neighboring states' casinos, even worse is that horses are leaving the state and the race tracks are dieing.Agreed! And it's getting worse every year! People need to wake up before it's too late, the states money situation is not getting any better. I just don't see how some people can't see the fact that casinos will help KEEP money in Kentucky! People are going to gamble anyway, WHY in the world do they want to continue to see KY money going to other states as our state is suffering? I think its ridiculous that in this day in age Kentuckians can't call for a constitutional amendment by petitioning for signatures. The legislature can call for a constitutional convention to be voted on, but that won't happen as it takes a majority in both the house and senate.
February 26, 201214 yr Author Term Limits Solves the problem. No More David Williams, Julian Carroll, Greg Stumbo and others that have sat on their rear ends and wasted tax dollars.
February 27, 201214 yr Comparing drinking in a dry county or making prostitution legal to shooting it out in the street over a dispute is absolutely absurd. I shouldn't have to explain to you why. I'm not talking about gang warfare I'm talking about a good old fashion duel. What if the people want it? At a minimum I want it to be brought to the people to vote on it.
February 27, 201214 yr Just in case you missed this, Newman. I'm not saying we shouldn't. I would like reasons why it's such a solution to our problems. I just find it hard to believe that it's a huge financial windfall.
